I know, compared to something like Inu-Yasha or One Piece (minus the dub, which is just as awful) its pretty bad, but it is still good. 'Course i'm probably only saying that because I was right in the middle of the "Pokemon Craze". It was still a good show though... Inuyasha? One Piece? Try Trigun or Mobile Suit Gundam... now THOSE were good animes. Anyways, Transformers was awesome... and Pokemon was great, even if it was bad at the same time. Eh, i just really like One Piece... I read Trigun once, it was really good. the main character was awesome. Mobile Suit is the original, right? Even before Wing? Now THAT was an awesome show. Huge robots with people in them, fighting in space. Sandrock kicked ass. At the time I thought shows like Pokemon and DBZ were good, and I look back, and still say there good, even though i know there awfull. Maybe thats why I love it so much. Goosebumps wasn't a cartoon, but there was some pretty awfull acting, but also some really good acting. It was pretty inconsistant due to the different cast every episode. At least with Are You Afraid of the Dark they had the 4 or 5 people from the Midnight Society. Wow. All this talk of 90's TV shows makes me feel old... I still like Goosebumps though. Speaking of Transformers, and stuff from my childhood: Beast Wars was an awesome show. It was definitely worse than the original, but better than something like Armada or any of the other new stuff. That and Reboot were some of the first CGI shows (atleast I think...). Whoa.... way off topic. Goosebumps used to scare the crap out of me. And Pokemon I guess is just kinda "Awesomely Bad"

  8. QUOTE (KublaKhan @ Jul 3 2007, 01:02 PM) Ok, i agree with 13 ghosts of Scooby Doo. That was bad. But... Why the hell is pokemon on there? I know, compared to something like Inu-Yasha or One Piece (minus the dub, which is just as awful) its pretty bad, but it is still good. 'Course i'm probably only saying that because I was right in the middle of the "Pokemon Craze". It was still a good show though... And Transformers was awesome too. I mean, even some of the new series' are ok. Everything up to Armada was good. I loved Pokemon back when it hit.

QUOTE (ILSnwdog @ Jul 2 2007, 01:06 PM) QUOTE (The Captain @ Jun 25 2007, 10:42 PM) In high school you tried to get your english teacher to use Neil's lyrics as an example of poetryQUOTE In my freshman year in HS, we read Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities, and on the back of our test over the scene where the Bastille is stormed, I wrote all the lyrics to "Bastille Day" and got extra credit! In an acting class we had to do a spoken word piece...So, I read "Red Barchetta". It blew the teacher away. He asked who wrote that great piece of work. He just about had to pick his jaw up off the ground when I told him they were lyrics to a Rush song. Same here. I read Time Stand Still on the last day of school.
  10. QUOTE (PuppetKing2112 @ Jun 28 2007, 12:42 PM) QUOTE (Hatchetaxe&saw @ Jun 28 2007, 09:21 AM) Of the 80's stuff get Oh Mercy. Over Infidels? I don't know... Deadwing, here are the 5 albums you should start with: *The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan - as Hatchet said, this is the best of his early pre-electric period, and probably one of his overall top 5 albums. *Bringing it All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited, and Blonde on Blonde - nobody who likes music should be without this trilogy. *Blood on the Tracks - his best album IMO. Mostly I agree with Hatchet about the other stuff...Nashville Skyline is the best of his "country" period. As I said earlier, John Wesley Harding is underrated too, as is Desire, from 1976. His latest trilogy, Time Out of Mind, Love and Theft, and Modern Times, is fantastic too. I do have to disagree also about the live albums...Rolling Thunder is great, but I would say the one to get out of the Bootleg Series is volume 4, Royal Albert Hall 1966. The 1964 one as well. The sheer amount of quality music this guy has released is just mindblowing. Thanks gonna check out Dylan next time I am at a music store.

  14. QUOTE (Necromancer @ Jun 26 2007, 06:26 PM) 'My jaw refused to fight any more' http://blog.honeyee.com/jeff/archives/images/Kobayashi-shove-thumb.jpg Tokyo - A Japanese man who set a world record by wolfing down dozens of hot dogs within minutes has suffered a severe jaw injury due to his rigorous training, making his next title uncertain. Takeru "Tsunami" Kobayashi said he can only open his mouth to make a gap the size of a fingertip after being diagnosed with jaw arthritis. In an entry on his blog entitled Occupational Hazard, Kobayashi said: "My jaw refused to fight any more." The injury occurred only a week after the slender 29-year-old started training to win his seventh straight title at the annual July 4 Nathan's Famous hot dog eating event on New York's Coney Island. "I feel ashamed that I couldn't notice the alarm bells set off by my own body," he said. "But with the goal to win another title with a new record, I couldn't stop my training so close to the competition. "I was continuing my training and bearing with the pain but finally I destroyed my jaw." Kobayashi, who has become a niche celebrity in Japan and the United States, had already halted his competitive eating activities for several months due to mourning after his mother's death earlier this year. But he said he still wanted to go to the competition in New York. "I want to be the pride of my mother," he said in the blog entry posted on Sunday. Last year, Kobayashi put down a world-record 53 and three-quarters hot dogs in just 12 minutes. In addition to the Nathan's Famous titles, he holds world records for scoffing cows' brains and rice balls. In 2004, he founded the United Food Fighters Organisation in hopes of making people take competitive eating seriously as a sport. Despite Japanese people's reputation as moderate eaters, Kobayashi helped to turn competitive eating into a television sensation with "food fighters" downing everything from sushi to cakes. But Japanese television began to shy away from such contests after a 14-year-old junior high school student choked to death in 2002 trying to imitate competitive eating during school lunch. - Sapa-AFP So now JAWK JAW is an occupational hazard??? I saw that on ESPN

Dylan has never really been well-served by his greatest-hits comps IMO. What would be a good starter album for a Bob Dylan noob like me?
