    Is Rush Metal?

QUOTE (Godeater2112 @ Jun 27 2012, 10:15 AM) QUOTE (metaldad @ Jun 27 2012, 10:11 AM) QUOTE (Godeater2112 @ Jun 25 2012, 02:42 PM) - Sam Dunn's documentary "A Headbanger's Journey" that I'm sure most of you have seen - Ian Christie's BIBLE on heavy metal history "Sound of the Beast" one of the better books I have read in years http://www.soundofthebeast.com/ - The bible on prog metal "Mean Deviation" by Jeff Wagner that I am currently reading, a fascinating read by the way and even features a photo of Rush on the back cover and has each section of the book itself titled from Rush lyrics... http://www.bazillionpoints.com/progress/ Don't believe they are Metal now ? Re-read this ~40 years of existence, not every track needs to sound heavier than Deicide just to be metal.
  2. QUOTE (Babycat @ Jun 27 2012, 06:41 AM) QUOTE (Rushchick10 @ Jun 27 2012, 12:37 PM) Mine's about at the middle of my back at the moment. I typically will cut it around shoulder length for summer, but I haven't gotten to it yet. Mine's collarbone length and straight - I want to grow mine. I'm inspired by Duck's gorgeous hair..!
  3. QUOTE (JohnnyBlaze @ Jun 27 2012, 04:50 AM) Holy smokes duck-san, people like your hair almost as much as you do!

  7. QUOTE (Super Phil @ Jun 26 2012, 10:46 PM) I really like the thrash band Forbidden. I think I have 4 of their CD's: Forbidden Evil, Twisted Into Form, Distortion (I think that's what it's called), and Live at Dynamo. Cool stuff! I need to pick up some Forbidden albums, I don't own any, not even that recent 2010 release which looks pretty good.
  8. QUOTE (Tick @ Jun 26 2012, 10:04 PM) Just wanted to say, "Born Again" was a bad record, and a worse tour. Ian was a bad fit. Not familiar with "Forbidden" or "Seventh Star" Ian made Sabbath like Black Purple, or Deep Sabbath, it was kind of weird. I got the album at the time and I didn't like it, it just wasn't Sabbath, Ozzy Sabbath or Dio Sabbath or any Sabbath. It's grown on me over the years though, I think it's a decent album now.
  9. QUOTE (metaldad @ Jun 26 2012, 09:14 PM) QUOTE (beherit @ Jun 26 2012, 09:13 PM) nah, seventh star is the worst sabbath Ugh, no way bro, it's not great but there are a few good songs The Seventh Star is good, Glenn Hughes and Tony Iommi what more do you want? It's not Sabbath but it's good...

We can't neglect him. Though Geddy has his own special place in my esteem. Except that Neil's a beast. He could easily regenerate himself. Geddy's a quasi-beast. He would slowly regenerate. Al... he would need help. A lot of slow, patient, sensual, sweet sexy therapeutic help. Yeah. A lot. Of that last kind of help. Best. Post. Ever! See, we need 3 of us because we need to work in shifts. That there is a lot of man!! Well when you put it that way.....oh alright! I'll share! I call dibs on the first shift! I am NOT going after VS. He would wreck Al's thing. And then Al would be useless want to nap. Smart gal! There would be no wrecking though...just extremely skilled....nursing..... So that's what Neil means by The Wreckers??
  11. QUOTE (Mara @ Jun 26 2012, 09:48 PM) About 5 years ago mine was butt-length. It never really got in the way, though, because it stayed in a single braid down my back. I worked as a residential builder, and having 4 or so pounds of hair flopping around just wasn't very practical. Daily routine was like so: Get up, work out. Shower and unbraid and wash hair. Immediately re-braid upon leaving shower. Yes, I slept in the braid, because it kept the hair from tangling up like mad. It also kept my husband from accidentally scalping me by rolling over on it in the middle of the night. I remember once when I wore it down for the company Christmas party. It looked glorious, but within 2 hours of getting to the party DH was horsing around with a toasted marshmallow on a stick and got marshmallow goo all in my hair. One thing that bugged me about it, though - EVERYONE kept saying, "oh, you should get it all cut off and donate it to Locks of Love!" Worthy cause but I LIKED my hair and had a tough time giving it up when I finally decided the maintenance was too much. I had it cut off a bit at a time. hair!

Time for a change. That's so funny...I was thinking the same thing today. I came so close to going agetting it all cut off...but chickened out. How long is it? Eww...that's a rather personal question.... Bahahahaha!!! Jimmeh!!!
  13. QUOTE (CantStopThinkingBig @ Jun 26 2012, 07:30 PM) QUOTE (treeduck @ Jun 25 2012, 12:42 AM) QUOTE (CantStopThinkingBig @ Jun 24 2012, 09:44 PM) so God is the observer? We're all the observers, whoever is there to observe. so if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to observe, does the tree really fall? Does the tree even exist? But as long as something observes the tree, a bird, a squirrel, a frog or a dragonfly then it's still exists. All levels of consciousness are important in the universal framework. Think of a volume control on a stereo, you don't just want a volume control that only works on 10, you need the lowest levels too, otherwise you have no control, just volume. Well think of universal consciousness as a cosmic volume control, human consciousness is one of the higher levels and the lowest levels are the lower animals. Low volume may have limited use but it's still sound and you can still hear it, and in this scenario low level consciousness can still observe, it's still consciousness.

  16. QUOTE (metaldad @ Jun 26 2012, 06:19 PM) QUOTE (HemispheresserehpsimeH @ Jun 26 2012, 05:36 PM) QUOTE (treeduck @ Jun 26 2012, 01:53 AM) QUOTE (presto123 @ Jun 26 2012, 01:41 AM) Well.......Geoff has been saying that the guys had no interest in stepping up to the plate in the song writing dept. If they release a record we will soon see if he was right. Do we really know that Rockenfield can't write? Didn't he get credit for writing the only thing on DTC that sounded like classic QR?(At The Edge) To me At The Edge sounds like it came right off of Promised Land. One of the few bright spots of DTC. Well Wilton wrote Deliverance, co-wrote Child of Fire, Before the Storm, Walk in the Shadows, I Dream in Infrared, Chemical Youth Spreading the Disease, Speak, Revolution Calling (my faves off Mindcrime) with Tate, Operation Mindcrime with Degarmo and Tate, Surgical Strike with Degarmo and so on and so on. So I don't see why he can't be one who steps up. And maybe the other guitar player can contribute and the new vocalist too. See, but this is the thing with Geoff that makes me think he's telling some truth. I mean, if Wilton can co-write those kinds of awesome songs, then where was he for the last 5 or so albums? I used to be on board with QR moving on without DeGarmo because I was hoping they'd write something huge again. But I'm really beginning to think that Chris was really the balancing act. He really brought the band to a level that can't be achieved now without him. So again, if a Tate/DeGarmo project happens then I'd be insanely happy about that. But as far as a Rising West/QR project is concerned, I'm just not really that excited about it. I would've been a couple of years ago. But not now. I don't think Tate is going to say "I am fu*ked now because all the real writers left" Tate made it his solo band . He had almost his whole f-n family working for the band . If you are in a postion like the rest of the band where your songs keep getting turned down , after awhile you are just going to go thru the motions and get paid . The guy they have now can sing his ass of and can sing Any tunes they have. Tate has gotten worse and worse over the years, he can't sing stuff from the E.P. or Warning anymore so the fans get a fu*king Dance album instead. I can't wait to hear this stuff they come up with . Fu*k Tate.
  17. Gary Rushgoober has been alive for 73 years and for the last 10 he thought he hated Vapor Trails, but now he's ready to renounce his hate and pronounce his love for VT!

Maybe Halo Effect. I hope the first two will be! I love everything else (though I'll be weeping like a colicky infant during "The Garden") You don't like Caravan and BU2B? And I saw you as a Gypsy type too... Reading comprehension, Duck! I was alluding to BrightAntennae's post! I still say you're a Gypsy Rosalie type... "Rosalie" like Thin Lizzy sings about? Aye...sort of, though it was written by Bob Seger (I'm hearing that in Phil Lynott's voice )...

Very similar to this: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41Qlb3z5lwL._SL500_AA300_.jpg It's still in the research and development stage. I'll keep you posted. What about my bridge??
  22. QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ Jun 26 2012, 06:00 PM) Opinions and all (respect), but I don't for the life of me see how anyone can rank any of the other 11 below BU2B2...and not because that transitional piece sucks, mind you, but precisely because it's merely a transitional piece. Is that a picture of you in your avatar?
