  1. From a choir teachers stand point. His voice is sounding a little more closed and un-articulated because of a combination of a few circumstances. 1. Age: The muscles that give him the ability to lift his soft palate are weakening, giving his tongue much less room to articulate notes. 2. Layering: On the most recent album, the songs that are "loud" have have a lot of layering provide very little sonic space for his voice. Is his voice as good as in 1981? No. Can he still hit the notes, sing "good" and entertain you and me? You bet!
  2. All this excitement! Now I have something to do on this Saturday night!
  3. It was kinda nice to see Randy have Geddy's back like that!
  4. Sooo... A kid just sang Tom Sawyer by Rush for an audition in front of the three judges.... Randy was like...."Do you think that's what Geddy Lee sounds like man? Cause he sounds pretty good.".... Awesome and not at the same time! They played TS as an outro. Kinda cool!
  5. QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Oct 16 2011, 02:24 AM) QUOTE (pedro2112 @ Oct 16 2011, 12:19 AM) Didn't Mozart write compositions at age 4? Hey Pedro! I think you might be right. Beethoven must have been a young lad too. Signed, David Bowie Yes sir. He wrote Andante in C major. Leopold(his father) started to realize at a early age(3) that he was naturally gifted because little Wolfgang would be sleeping while his father Leopold and friends from work(a violinist) would be fiddling around on the piano and would wake up and scream down the stairs "resolve it!!!!!" when they wouldn't resolve a dominant 7th chord(or something of that nature). Quite the story if your interested(read the book by Davenport, soooo good)
  6. I usually don't check out many concert photos but I am so glad I saw these. Very nice work!
  7. Neil Peart Plus..........lol I thought of something like that for a sign at a concert a while ago....but i'm not clever as Dave
  8. I am multi-instrumentalist but have played most of Rush's discography on drums. The absolute best way to learn a Rush song is like any other contemporary piece of non dictated music, and that is to listen to the song over and over and be able to sing(or tap in my case) your part almost note for note first with the music, then without. That way it's in your head, then when you practice with tab/music or by ear(or both) you will have a head start. Step 1. learn the basics(basic drum groove/bass-guitar riffs.) Step 2. Then apply advanced things(rhythmic/melodic fills around those grooves-riffs.) Step 3. Then apply the hard stuff(specific detailed articulation/phrasing/style/solos/time signature stuff) The 3rd step is the absolute hardest but most rewarding. I can play a lot of Rush songs note for note with a lot of attention to detail but to land it in the pocket like Neil does on the record(and amazingly consistent live) is....VERY rare. That's what makes it the most fun.
  9. The video is sped up by about 10 bpms. See the other vids of the same performance Still fun to watch though, love that song
  10. I want to go see Rush so bad this Sunday at the Palace in Detroit, but being that I am a student (Music Education) money is super tight(non exsistent) So this is a call out to anyone that is going that maybe had a friend cancel on them or just are looking for someone to go w/them. If you have a ticket to spare, I would be very fortunate to go. In exchange I can give you two picks from the Time Machine Tour(1st leg). One is White and has the 2112 logo on it and then the other is yellow with the time machine logo on it. I don't expect anything from this, but figured I would try. This board is awesome, and I thank everyone that makes it possible. Thanks everyone, Kenny
  11. QUOTE (D3strukt @ Dec 18 2010, 06:50 PM) I just got some sound files from someone claiming to be at the TMT Rehersals (not the final one at Albuquerque.) I have Hemispheres: Prelude, Analog Kid, and Show Don't Tell. All are probably in Drop D, as far as I can tell. The damn thing sounds like it was recorded in a tin can. I should say, that anyone wanting Geddy to sing Hemispheres really should just keep it a pot dream, as it is horrible. (only the vocals, not the instruments.) Post them! Please!!!
  12. This time around the synths are sampled from the actual master track of the song.
  13. I anticipate a Detroit date and I hope that it's at Pine Knob(DTE Energy Music Theater). I can't wait!!! I hope we get an announcement before Thanksgiving!
  14. They'll play 4 more CWA songs in addition to the two already on the setlist, and will drop TCE, PRESTO, FAITHLESS. I bet they will add another gem from PW. I don't know really...
  15. Geddy's bass tone is so much better now with the Orange amps. Soooo much better
  16. Maybe someone at Anthem actually read my email after the the last tour. Just kick most of the songs up 10 bpm....
  17. Win them in a contest or be close enough to a crew member to get some. Otherwise you cannot buy them or obtain them.
  18. Sarnia had close to 20,000 people packed in there. It was nuts.
  19. While I was waiting in line for the show in Sarnia one of the truck drivers for the tour asked us where the entrance was for his semi. We told him and we asked him about Chicago and he said "there was three inches of rain on the stage, and they cancelled it"......but he also thought for sure both we're cancelled so he might not be reliable. Chris, I hope you get an exchange for the show in Toronto, or your money back. As a college student(BA in Music Ed) I know money can be tight...or non exsistent.
  20. I sent my information, you just made a really hard working college boy very happy. Thanks so much!
  21. I am a poor college student pursuing a Bachelors of Education in Music(noble persuit right?) looking to see them in Toronto. Pretty please with a cherry on top? It's very kind of you to offer this up.
  22. He is definatly playing a few of the parts, and a few of them are triggered. It doesn't make a difference it's killer. BTW the audio on that video is great!
  23. There were 11 tickets available for section 103 the front center section. They are all gone now, two of them were a pair of row M's (12th row) http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/04004490...01&minorcatid=1 I am interested to see what else comes up tomorrow....
