I thought it would be another "Pearl Harbor" or "Windtalkers" (in other words, a rah rah hollywood action film with a WWII background). But when I found out that Eastwood would be directing it, I became instantly excited about it. Pearl Harbor Did everyone look like models in the 40's? I'm also looking forward to seeing this, for the ones who have does it rank up there with Saving Private Ryan for graphic display of battle? Yes it does, but that shouldn't be your reason for going to see it. No, of course not I'm not shallow, I was just curious if that aspect of the film carried the same gritty realism as the opening scene of the D-Day Invasion from Ryan. I'm a history buff and my father was a WWII veteran .(squad leader sgt and received a bronze star which is one of my most cherished possesions.) I watched a history channel documentary awhile back on this, tragic and interesting the lives of those men involved with the famous photograph.

You gotta have The Holy Grail and Life of Brian , both still hilarious after all these years! I've seen every Woody Allen movie, at least up until the mid-90's, so I've seen all of those, but really the only movie of his that I'd probably stick in a top 100 that I didn't mention of his would be Love & Death which is my absolute favorite of his "early funny ones". Besides that, I think that Annie Hall, Manhattan and Hannah and Her Sisters are his true classics, although there are many, many great ones. I'm not as crazy about Life of Brian as some are, but I agree about Holy Grail, that should be on my list. My list is incomplete because, well, it's just too hard to remember every move I've ever seen to put on the list, but Holy Grail should be on there too along with Love & Death. Also, The Emerald Forest, The Graduate and many others I haven't thought of yet... I guess you can say there MY personal favorites Also like Midsummers Night's sex comedy and New York stories. Love &Death up there as well. Haven't seen anything he's done lately last movie of his I watched at theater was Small Time Crooks. Had it's funny moments but overall just ok. I'm a big fan of Deconstructing Harry. Great cast, Very funny most of movie but I felt it started to get dull near the end like Woody ran out of ideas how to bring it to a close.

Borat

Official film title, Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for make benefit glorious nation of Kazakhstan. Imagine if this was up for a oscar and having to say that! I'm a fan of Da Ali G Show and love this character on it. Not exactly politically correct and can make you cringe at times in disbelief of what he just said. BUT it's so damn funny If I don't get a chance to see it at theater will rent it as soon as it is released on dvd. (good reviews so far and a suprise hit.)

7. Agree well worth seeing great cast, Is Nicholson made for this role or what! Fantastic and funny in only the demented way Jack can pull off..
8. Man, i so wanted to see this played Cleveland at the state theatre(RUSH old stomping grounds) no time to many other obligations mostly work.
9. I loved this movie the graphic comic it was based on was cool also. Watched it three times at theater, but have to tell ya last month dusted off my old vhs copy and wasen't as magical this time around, really dated and ho hum.... boring It happens Although still like the soundtrack.
10. Canton,Ohio hometown boys just had a street named after them. Had a parade and concert this last summer which I heard is going to be a annual event (O'Jays day) Other Canton native also showed up for the celebration Macy Gray. Maryln Manson I guess couldn't make it
11. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Oct 12 2006, 03:19 PM) Dressing up other people as Ace and Peter is pretty much unforgivable. I was shocked when I first saw that on a magazine cover. Yes, And the fact they CONTINUE to go on this way, after there so called Farewell tour was what? five or six years ago... Just like the Who continue to tour, I remember the big hype of them ending (early 80's?) Last Concert in states was Cleveland and North America, Toronto Canada still have that on vhs tape. Of course you seen them play everywhere after that for years to come. And how low class was it for them to keep on playing after the sudden death of Entwistle at Las Vegas.
12. QUOTE (Test4VitalSigns @ Oct 12 2006, 11:00 PM) Believe it or not Ace is trying out as an actor...Has a role in a movie called Remedy (haven't seen it). I've heard he is working on a solo album as well... Didn't Peter Criss make a guest appearance as a inmate on the HBO series" OZ"?
13. QUOTE (circumstantial tree @ Oct 10 2006, 11:21 AM) My sister once told me way back when we were kids that KISS used to wash their forks and spoons with piss. I guess that was one in a million rumours about the band. Never heard that one...
14. QUOTE (paganoman @ Oct 10 2006, 10:42 AM) QUOTE (treeduck @ Oct 10 2006, 05:21 AM) QUOTE (softfilter @ Oct 10 2006, 02:29 AM) Others who added back vocals beside Cher on Gene's album. Helen Reddy Bob Seger Donna Summer Janis Ian Kate Sagal ( Yes from Married with children,Futurama) Also Joe Perry and Rick Nielsen, (Skunk Baxter from Doobie Brothers) played on album. Leave it to Simmons to indulge this extreme and it still was mediocre. Did anyone buy his last album "A**HOLE" title seems to fit!! Heard it was pretty bad. Yeah I'm sure they hung out witht Donna Summer too much around 78-79, then their popularity dwindled with a pop album and a concept album, Peter supposedly was on Unmasked but it was future David Letterman drummer Anton Fig who played on it. Later when they got their act together with Creatures of the Night Ace was supposed to be on that but it was Vinnie Vincent...Downward spiral really from their 77/78 peak... I remember the interview where Gene admitted to begging Ace to appear for the cover of Creatures, even though it was VV playing. They knew after Peter's departure being so recent, the band would not survive the blow of Ace leaving so soon afterward. Creatures, btw, is a KICK ASS album. They evolved just fine. Also a frequent awol Ace the starman had to be replaced on the set of that cinematic masterpiece "KISS Meets The Phantom of the park" by a African American gentleman who put on the starman makeup. Seen Creatures tour also, remember stage being a large tank thats all I remember man was I stoned that night!!! Also didn't Vinnie Vincent recently lost in his court bid for royalties on the KISS albums he appeared on?

16. Of course "New York Groove" was the most popular of all the solo works as disco was still holding on. I remember seeing KISS during the Dynasty tour and they played "NYG" only song they played from solo albums. Horrible era for KISS caught up in the Disco sh*t "I was made for loving you" Only other song I remember being played on radio from solo's was Gene's "Living in sin at the Holiday Inn" I believe his gal at the time Cher had guest vocals on that gem.
17. I had Ace and Paul's of the two I'd say Paul's was better. A buddy had Gene's ,"When you wish upon a star" that was to much! Never heard anything from Peter's. (His other solo album out of control? It wasen't to bad, Wasen't to good either! Oh, I'd like to add thought the instrumental on Ace's album fractured mirror what a beautiful mood piece well done. Quite different from anything I've heard from KISS.
18. QUOTE (strangiatoman @ Sep 20 2006, 11:27 PM) Well, I'll be honest here. I'm a born again Christian. While no one here has said anything that I really find offensive, I do feel the need to put in my two cents. First off, I don't buy any of the Rush having any involvement in the Satanic realm. The Starman, 2112, COS, and even Rush standing for anything is just stupid. I'll be the first to admit that religious fanatics have really gone over the top to "sell" that rock music is just the worst thing that anyone can be involved with. It's the same people that tried to tell us that AC/DC stood for Anti Christ Devil's Children, or that KISS stands for Knights In Satan's Service. It's all ridiculous really. What I find strange is that more times than not, its the religious community making the fuss about things while the musicians rarely have any negative comments either way. I don't think people understand that you can have a balance. I used to be into some heavy stuff, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, AC/DC and what not, stuff that may not be "satanic" still had a message that I grew uncomfortable with after making my decision to follow Christ. I don't listen to any of the stuff that I grew to just not appreciate anymore. On the other hand, I'm not saying that people who do listen to that music have spiritual issues they need to work on, its just a matter of taste and what you're comfortable with. I still love Rush and many other artists and bands that don't compromise or outwardly reject my beliefs and I certainly believe that just because one is a Christian doesn't mean that they can only listen to religious music. There's certainly enough good music out there that doesn't have an overly religious tone that is thought provoking and often moving... anyone? Respect....
19. That's interesting, always seems rock performers seem to gravitate to this, Like George Harrison and the Beatles.
20. I enjoyed Signs and get the spiritual message of don't loose faith. But for me the last good one was Unbrakeable. Village was hokey but watchable,I'll wait for latest when it comes out on dvd. Which after reading the reviews will probably be soon.
21. The last BOC I bought was Fire of Unknown Origin. Really Good! A few years later they played club in hometown (Canton) Club Ninja I believe was the album they were supporting. They were really bad! Forgot words to Reaper half way through song had to start over again! Embrassing not only for that but the fact a few short years earlier saw them play Richfield Coliseum in front of 17,000 then playing in front of a few hundred at a 3rd tier market. One of my favorite live albums is On your feet Or on your knees.
22. QUOTE (alphseeker @ Jul 13 2006, 03:48 PM) Testament - a post nuke war where everyone started dying from the fallout one at a time - Most depressing movie ever made IMO I remember seeing a animated British movie similar of what you describe. About a senior couple who survive and later succumb to the effects of nuclear fallout. Very depressing.
23. QUOTE (Rush! @ Jul 30 2006, 01:49 PM) Damn, I'm a teenager and I LOVE Fantasia. One of my favorite films. I used to love classical music, believe it or not. Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, etc. Fantasia is wonderful! And Fantasia 2000 although lacks some of the magic of original has some truely great moments. I recommend seeing this if you loved the first.
I have both on VHS. I obviously prefer the original, but 2000 is good as well. I agree it's not as good as the original, it lacks in some areas. Some scenes I think I skip on that one. My favorite scene on the original is the Rite Of Spring sequence with the dinosaurs. That's fantastic! I heard it was made sometime in the 1940's? Yes original was released in 1940. "At the time of it's original release, Fantasia was intented to be a perpetual touring concert presentation, with new selections regularly replacing existing segments, over years of continual release." "Sadly, that idea never came to fruition" quote from Roy Disney. OK THATS ENOUGH HIJACKING!!
24. QUOTE (Rush! @ Jul 29 2006, 05:47 PM) But the one movie we DID walk out of was Disney's FANTASIA. Even the kids couldn't get into it.
Damn, I'm a teenager and I LOVE Fantasia.
