  1. Five Guys has gone up a lot since the pandemic. Here in NY, their normal two-patty burger, small fries and a bottle of water is now over $18. They're good burgers, and their fries are the best (and they don't skimp on them), but that's a lot. McD's burgers are bottom-tier for fast food burgers and are nowhere near as good as Five Guys, so the thought of paying $18 for a Big Mac meal is as hard to stomach as the burgers themselves.
  2. Maybe McD's should try it. Typical hyperbolic clickbait headline, but their prices have gone up a lot in the past few years.
  3. To be fair, a lot of modern country is more pop-country. Four-chord pop music with autotuned vocals, with a bit of country twang. Beyonce's lyrics refer to boots, booze, hoedowns and Texas, with what sounds like a banjo in the background. These days that's pretty much all you need.
  4. I was going to respond with "Bingo!" but decided to go with a gif version. Christoph Waltz was brilliant in that movie and his delivery of the above line was funny. Nothing beyond that went into choosing that image. I didn't even think of the Nazi angle in the context of this thread. I wish I could claim it was "genius trolling," but nothing so clever, I'm afraid. Besides, you don't need a high level of cleverness when responding to Mith's childish race-baiting.
  5. This crowd? How would you describe this crowd?
  6. You're (rightly) catching shit because instead of starting a thread simply celebrating Beyonce's accomplishment, you saw it as an opportunity to do a little race-baiting. Totally immature and unnecessary, but on-brand for you Oh and, Darius Rucker has been a popular mainstream country star for years now after crossing over from pop music, and country fans aren't getting bent about it.
  7. I never got into the metal scene back in the '70s and '80s, and bands like Priest and Saxon didn't interest me much (Iron Maiden is the exception), but this is a seriously good song.
  8. I'm pondering: Will the Yankees again become a contender, and will Juan Soto help them get there? And can the Texas Rangers repeat as champs? Nobody is picking them to win it again.
  9. I turned it off. Did he get it? The script says give it to (an undeserving) Kelce so he can turn it into a marriage proposal.
  10. Agreed, at that point they had to secure the tie.
  11. The whole guitar, including the control layout, is modeled after the original Hentor Sportscaster. I don't like that switch location either, but guess Alex didn't want to change it from the original.
  12. I guess you can't deny a Super Bowl commercial from anyone who can pony up the millions for the airtime, even an organized religion or cult.
  13. Remember when Super Bowl commercials were really funny or really clever or otherwise really good? For the past few years, they've just been stupid. The Reese's one was nicely chaotic, but other than that I've yet to see one that I want to see again.
  14. Wow, an actual commercial for a "religious" cult during the Super Bowl. How did CBS allow that? Assholes.
  15. I was tempted. Gronk just had his betting app-sponsored FG attempt, which he missed. There's no way a professional football player -- especially one of his skill level -- couldn't learn to kick a mere 25-yard FG. Anybody who put money on that farcical stunt is a loser, even if they won.
  16. It's a sweet guitar. They're made by Godin, a Canadian builder who do really nice work. I like the pickup configuration, and the Vega bridge looks nice. I also like that it has a 12" fingerboard radius (like a Les Paul) and stainless steel frets. Overall, the specs are great. If I were to nitpick, I'm not a fan of the control layout -- I'd like the volume knob closer to the pickup (like on a normal Strat) and the pickup switch might be too far away, but I'd have to try it. They go for $3,999 USD. That's a lot of money for what is basically a modified Strat. Could you build your own for a lot less? Yeah, and lots of players have done it. That said, Sweetwater sells them and are already sold out. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/LERXSTALLCV--godin-lerxst-limelight-alex-lifeson-signature-electric-guitar-limelight-cream-with-vega-tremolo
  17. "The politics of life?" Anyhoo, this is a topic about the NFL. Taylor Swift is the biggest pop star on the planet, and because she happens to be dating the best and best-known tight end in the league whose team is again going to the Super Bowl, she's going to become part of the conversation. But we can talk about how annoying all the Swifty Bowl stuff is going to be without including "Traylor's" so-called politics. Politics tends to disrupt threads like this, as we're seeing here, and we'd like to avoid that.
  18. If you want to talk about the politics of Taylor Swift (did I just say that out loud?), please do so in SOCN. We like to keep political discussion confined to that forum wherever possible. Of course, you've been here for 18 years, so you already know this.
  19. It's been made political in this thread. Maybe that's what goose is referring to? Taylor and Kelce (so CUTE!!! *squeal*) are going to generate an onslaught of LOOK AT US over the next two weeks, and that would be the case whether or not they've made any "I don't know shit but listen to me anyway because I'm famous!" political statements, so that angle doesn't mean much here.
  20. https://youtu.be/zdPOBKYfjB0?si=ZRrWQP8KdZvpb7r0 This is NSFW, and LOUD.
  21. I believe so! Let me look it up to make sure. Ummm....okay, NO.
