  1. I'm still out to lunch on the mix. Without CD in my hand it is too early to judge except for one area that bothers me...Neil's toms. They sound way too subdued and not reflective of the tone I heard live. They don't have the snap or punch I am used to and it takes away from the intensity of the music.
  2. The singing makes u cringe, definitely, but it seriously reinforces the legacy of how good they were and that they still can keep up.
  3. This version for TSOR is OK for me. I really like the audio, but not the vocals. The vocals dont kill it for me yet. Its not the best but could have been up there if the editing could have focused more on each individual in the band playing their instruments and capture a little more energy from the band members. The problem with film crews is they don't come from the die-hard fan perspective. RiR would have been the best version hands down but I can't get past the audio mix. As a tangent my go-to version for Ghost Rider is RiR. Simply fantastic! One thing I do wonder though is with the constant concerns over Geddy's voice and other comments (I personally don't think Alex makes any more mistakes than he did in the 70s/80s based on boots) in these forums if that has a semi to moderate effect on the boys looming decision to hang up the gloves or not. Wwe'll never know.
  4. Exactly my view as well....as a composer for keyboards he nailed it for Rush songs...as a player not even close...hell...even Alex was playing keys for The Garden...personally I dont see Alex' effort much more technical than what Ged has done
  5. To be honest, I think anyone on this board can play the keyboards just as good as Ged. He's average on the keyboard and even on recent live releases he's reduced a lot of his playing to triggers that he normally played live himself. This is not his main instrument, but a "Fly by night" passion (mid 80s - mid 90s) that he was interested in. Where I think he has skill is the music he has written for the keyboard, but again playing is not his forte'.
  6. I'm not hearing a harmonizer there. Me either. Geez... Well...I do hear it and it is slight in the mix at 2:11 - 2:15 Do you mean octaves? That might be there, but subtle. Yes...not a harmonizer but an octaver

  9. I actually like the leads even if played with less bending. What I do like in this version that is different than others is the harmonizer being used at 2:11 like that from the album. The net out of all of this is that we have two really good yet discernable versions that offer nice variations in approach; ESL and R40.
  10. I definitely think the audio is much better than CA Live (its on par with DS & R30).....each instrument is clear including the synths! Ever since DS synths felt like they were way back in the mix. Cymbals are articulate and the bass guitar is distinguishable with every note hit and not lost in the mix. Wall of sound is gone! Hooray.....BUT.....I dont like this version of Jacobs compared to Exit because of the ending... Alex eliminates the harmonics from the eigth notes, which really sets up the momentum for the end of the song At 5:59 the bass eigth notes are played low on the neck to where it slows the momentum of the song rather than bringing it to a higher registry
