  1. Good question - here are SOME of mine: 1. Field of Dreams when he sees the catcher at the end and realizes it's his father. 2. Return of the King - when Frodo is on the boat at the end to take him away and he looks back at is friends on the shore - he has the most angelic look on his face - absolutely classic! 3. Star Wars - the opening scene after the text intro when you see space and then a ship - POWERFUL moment that always got me. 4. Excalibur - the moment after King Arthur drinks from the grail and remembers that "he and the land are one" - there's a scene where him and his knights are riding on horseback and there are flowers from trees falling all around them. 5. Attack of the Clones - the first time we see Yoda in a light saber fight! 6. Austin Powers - The Spy who Shagged Me - the moment when he realizes he's not holding a cup of coffee, but he drinks it anyway!!! I remember that the first time I saw it and thought to myself, he just CAN'T drink that, that's just going too far, and then he did! Movies were never quite the same... 7. Lost Highway - the scene at the party where the wierd looking guy is talking to him, his phone rings and it's the guy in front of him on the phone! 8. The Shining - any moment when the kid is riding his big wheel in the hallways and keeps turning corners when you KNOW something is going to happen - freaks me out every time. 9. Naked Lunch - the first time he realizes his typewriter is a giant bug and it starts talking to him. 10. Goodfellas - the whole what's so funny about me, am i here to amuse you conversation - classic! 11. Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind - when he's building a big mound of dirt and crap in his living room and then sees the mountain on tv. Those are off the top of my head with 5 minutes of thought - I might try to think of some more later - there are so many of them - this is fun!
  2. QUOTE As far as I know, the only person who has indicated they will NOT be doing any more of the films is Robbie Coltrane. WTF not? Boy, THAT sucks - he made a great Hagrid!
  3. i'm not crazy about the fact that it's kind of become a movie that people who glorify violence hold in such high esteem, but that being said, it's a majorly ass-kicking movie. i remember my initial reaction to seeing it as a young teenager when it first came out was that it was the coolest thing i'd ever seen! i don't feel that way today, but it's still a fantastic, if slightly unrealistic movie - one of the greats, but only for those who can handle the extreme violence... "first you get the money, then you get the power, then you get the women"
  4. speaking as a man (hey, how did i get IN this forum???), this is HILARIOUS. i could use some (not all) of these classes myself. i consider myself a pretty liberated non-sexist man, but one thing i can't seem to let go of is the remote control - why won't my wife understand that it's MINE and it belongs to ME??? peace & love, gary (aka rushgoober)
  5. scratch one of my questions there, as i just looked on the internet movie database, and the 3 main roles are STILL (phew!) being played by the same actors - previously, it only confirmed that the actor playing lucious malfoy was the same, but now it's added the 3 of them in, but no one else.
  6. man, i can't WAIT for the new book! my wife and i are harry potter fanatics, and we generally buy them on tape to listen to them in the car - jim dale, the guy who reads them is phenomenal, doing different voices for every character, and generally being extremely engaging and interesting, although actually reading the books themselves can be fun too. regarding the films, have they even announced the cast of the 5th movie yet? as far as i know, the 3 actors that play the main roles haven't even agreed to anything beyond the 4th movie yet which has already been filmed. it would be a real shame if they changed actors - changing dumbledore was regrettable, but with the death of the original actor, unavoidable! still, it was a noticeable difference in continuity that was fine for one person, but if any of the 3 major players changed, it would be quite akward, don't you think? july 16th is right around the corner!!!
  7. since no one seems to be getting this, can we get a hint?
  8. from the twilight zone: Come explore your dreams' creation Enter this world of imagination...
  9. while rolinda doubtlessly has this one (again!), i'll throw in my two cents: A boy alone, and so far from home From Circumstances
  10. while digital man might be right, i'm going to guess a different verse from natural science than invisibleairwaves did: "Wave after wave Will flow with the tide And bury the world as it does Tide after tide Will flow and recede Leaving life to go on As it was...."
  11. QUOTE Actually, that is a good point. If the name of the creature is not specifically mentioned in the movie, then it should not be a proper question. Anyone who has seen the movies should be able to answer the questions if their memory is good enough. Right, then were back in the territory of seeing it in a book or only knowing because you had some obscure Star Wars card game or something else non-movie related that you were geeky with.
  12. QUOTE All the President's Men You got it! I thought it would be timely seeing as Deep Throat has been in the news, to give a quote from him from the movie... Your turn.
  13. Is there an pending question on this game? I don't have one. Can someone ask one?
  14. thanks for bumping these up - glad i asked! i just gave a fresh quote to get the game going again...
  15. Cool! Since I'm the one who asked about this thread and am inadvertently responsible for its return, I guess I'm the one who gets to give the next quote. Guess what movie: "Once, at a gathering, he put his hand over a candle. And he kept it there. He kept it right in the flame until his flesh seared. A woman who was watching asked, What's the trick?" And he replied. "The trick is not minding."
  16. Pinned above is MOVIE GAMES RULES AND GUIDELINES (Pages 1 2 3 ) - READ BEFORE PLAYING I read before playing, agreed to the rules, and now where is the game itself? What am I missing here?
  17. john irving has always been a really quirky writer whose stories are littered with fascinating characters and wildly improbably, yet at the same time fun and believable events. I actually read this book so long ago that I can't remember it, but I do remember the movie quite well - great cast and acting, some truly memorable moments, a huge range of human emotions, really quirky and truly original. Mention should also be made that with this movie and Moscow on the Hudson, it cemented Robin Williams as one of the truly GREAT dramatic actors (even though the movie had a fair bit of comedic elements in it too). I always get annoyed when he makes movies like Flubber as it seems such a waste of his incredible dramatic talent. Anyway, a must see in my book...
  18. I'm surprised that no one has said this before, but for me Field of Dreams is THE best baseball movie ever, and while there are a lot of other great ones, and I haven't seen every one ever made, I can't imagine one I could possibly love more. Not only is it the best baseball movie, but it will also be in my top ten favorite movie list of all time forever, regardless of subject matter. The way this movie infused the supernatural into it, with great acting and an amazing cast, and more importantly made people who aren't even baseball fans care about baseball is beyond compare. Also, deeply touching and the part at the end when he plays catch (I won't give it away for those who haven't seen it yet) just gets me crying every time - what a perfect f**king movie!
  19. I just saw this recently with my wife and some friends. WOW! All I can say is that pretty much everyone in the entire Western world owes a HUGE debt of thanks to this guy, and most people don't even know it! Would the sexual revolution in the 60's even have happened if not for Kinsey? Would sex education in school be happening? Boy were we in the extreme dark ages before he came around, and man was he one gutsy sonofabitch for doing what he did in the 40's and 50's! Defintely a very educational movie if nothing else, but also well acted and fascinating... Oh yeah, definitely a hard R on this one, not for young kids for sure...
  20. There are two reasons why I almost definitely won't see this movie: 1. I don't know why, but I hate, really passionately hate almost all Tim Burton movies. 2. It looks too much like the original.
  21. I consider myself a HUGE star wars fan, but these questions seem insane to me - for example on this last one, do they actually mention in The Empire Strikes Back the name of the creature who spits out R2, or do you have to do 30 minutes of research on the internet to know, OR, is watching each move 30 times still not enough to know the answers to these questions???
  22. MTV is but a shadow of what it once was, at least in terms of videos. I got MTV in 1981 VERY shortly after it came out, if not when it came out. The very early days of MTV consisted of maybe 50 videos or so played over and over again since that was all they had! Naturally, that number increased exponentially over time, but in the beginning you couldn't miss certiain videos by Golden Earring, Rainbow and A Flock of Seagulls played constantly. Also, it was all about the VJ's - 5 of them who had their shifts and would sometimes introduce videos and give news. Even throughout the 80's period mentioned above, they still would regularly play older videos, unlike now where if it's more than 6 months old, it's ancient history. Also, they had to get creative in the early days since pepole weren't use to making videos, so they would show promotional things like Queen's Bohemian Raphsody that was now a "video" and they would take Rush concert clips and make those into videos too! It was totally a fun period, and while most of the music they played in the 80's wasn't really my cup of tea, it was still fun. I'd rather watch 100 Rock Me Amadeus's over 1 50 Cent Candy Store (yuck) video any day, but it's way in the past now. Now videos are shown late at night or during strange hours on MTV and VH1 and it's all about the programming of regular shows like now, almost like a regular network. Thankfully for me though, I like a lot of the programming that VH1 and MTV has (Surreal Life, Celebrity Fit Club, Real World, Road Rules, 100 greatest...., When .... Ruled the World, etc.), so that's cool.
  23. oh, COOL, i love this game and haven't played it in years - i acknowledge the rules, and while I think they're biased and HIGHLY unfair , I will abide by them. Just kidding about the biased and highly unfair part!
  24. i'm the dude in the jedi council with the REALLY long neck. http://www.starwars.jediknights.co.uk/Characters/jedi_poof.jpg one has to wonder with a neck that long what keeps the head from just lolling about - is there a firm neck bone in there or does he use the force to keep the head from drooping? pehaps it has a fully extended slinky inside of it that keeps the head on a fairly even keel? inquiring minds want to know...
  25. QUOTE You'd think witha ll that money she's making off of Harry Potter that she could retire . If she wanted too that is. I would, get a expensive car and a nice house... imagine being that wealthy and loving what you do so much that you keep going even though there's no need to financially? sounds nice to me. just because she's j.k. rowling and because i LOVE the harry potter books, doesn't mean i would ever buy a crime novel. i think harry potter will be tough to top unless she does another series - i mean, how often does someone come along and write a series of books to compete with lord of the rings? this is it!
