  1. Great point, the ending of Tears gives me the chills with the haunting Mellotron, like King Crimson would.
  2. I dont beleive so, but it is hard to tell sometime. If this helps I checked wiki for Test for Echo and it says Geddy plays the synthesisers, while on Snakes and Arrows it says Geddy plays the Mellotron. But not positive
  3. I double checked to be sure, but almost positive it does not.
  4. Yes the extra r was added in the end on purpose, not a typo I swear
  5. Rank the Rush tracks that feature Mellotron Here are the songs that feature this amazing instrument - Tears - Armor and Sword - Faithless - Bravest Face - Good News First
  6. @3:55-4:50 is one of the most metal things I can think of from the early 70s
  7. So interesting story on ELO, when I went to see Utopia live and they played Do Ya, I knew it was an ELO song, but I remember that Utopia played it live since 1974, which didnt make sense to me because ELO didnt release the song until 1976. I thought that Do Ya was actually a cover song of Utopia. Then I realised that Do Ya was actually a single by the band The Move. So I thought many bands covered that song, but to find out Jeff Lynne was actually in The Move for a period of time and made the song for them, which he then re recorded for ELO. Just interesting to see. And because of this I discovered The Move which is a really good band which I recommend
  8. Yes, you can see the influences in their early works especially (for example the video I posted), Jeff Lynne is a genius.
  9. Very interesting to see UK on this list. Allan Holdsworth is super underrated guitar player, he has some great music. Cool read
  10. Most of the albums I liked right away, Presto took me a very long time to like, and not only do i like it, but love it.
  11. System of a Down. A band I never thought I would like, but love now. Black Sabbath. but only their first 5 albums, plan on going through them all though.
  12. I know the band doesnt tour much anymore, but Peter Hammill is keeping himself busy touring, awesome watching his videos live
  13. His solo stuff is great, most of the original members are on his albums (at least most of the early ones) For some recommendations start with: The Silent Corner and the Empty Stage, sounds most similar to VDGG, and I think one of the songs was suppose to be a VDGG song
  14. Being that you have a picture of him on your profile I'm not surprised. I actually met him once briefly and he seemed like a very down to earth guy(he even shook my hand and introduced himself even though I already knew who he was). Thats awesome! what year did you meet him?
  15. I made a thread on VDGG a while ago one of my all time favorite bands (in my top 5). Peter Hammill is a genius. http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?/topic/105007-van-der-graaf-generator-thread/
  16. My favorite GG video, I love watching the keyboard player switching from the cello to the keyboard to the xylophone all in one song
  17. I sometimes see your name as Big Boobies! The amount of people that tell me that, I might as well change it at this point!
  18. For collecting wise on vinyl I have Acquiring the Taste Three Friends Free Hand The Power and the Glory Interview Giant for a Day Hoping to find the others
  19. ooh do i have a collectors item on my hands? I have it on CD AND Vinyl :) Why you little bitch! I have 2 and this album is very under rated ( Bobby). Never clicked with me like their other albums did I will say, it isnt a bad album, I dont think they really made a bad album, just one that I would not listen to again for a while.
  20. Ranking GG albums Acquiring the Taste Free Hand In a Glass House Octopus The Power and the Glory Gentle Giant Three Friends Interview Giant for a Day The Missing Piece Civilian
