  1. "And here we have a little known UK indie boy band. You might wanna remember this album title: Abbey Road." It's that annoying energy that does me in.
  2. Anyway, onto Invincible Shield. Magnificent album, it's not my favourite, it's on par with Firepower. My opinion is that both albums offer a little something the other doesn't, and both do what they do extremely well. And erm...I think they are the bands best albums since before Turbo. I include Painkiller in that.
  3. There was a video where he introduced Maiden and was like "a British band, from England" And I was like...who the f**k watches these videos not knowing basic facts like that? He does that A LOT. "What we have here is a guitar solo". NO SHIT SHERLOCK, YOU'RE REVIEWING MALMSTEEN.
  4. I find his taste in music amazing. I find his opinions mostly annoying, and he speaks the most basic facts like it's the cleverest thing ever spoken aloud. I might play this, just to cringe.
  5. Sonata Arctica- Clear Cold Beyond I had no expectations for this album. So much so, I forgot it was coming out last week. This isn't a new classic, but it's a soft reminder of what made me love them so much. I doubt it will win them new fans, but it might win over disillusioned older fans. It's giving me Reckoning Night meets The Ninth Hour vibes. Two albums I love, I'm not mad at this.
  6. I've no idea why I've started listening to them again, but one band I loved in my teens, and subsequently ignored all my adult life, has taken over the last few days for me: Nine Inch Nails And by extension: Frontline Assembly I loved industrial music in my teens. So many of my favourite bands toyed with the genre as well, and I just can't believe I've ignored them for so long! Nine Inch Nails are making a comeback for me. They could be the next Paradise Lost/In Flames/Mastodon/Trivium to become an obsession years after I last played them! Also, I have to add that the new Sonata Arctica album is a major return to form for them, and I, of course, cannot get enough of Invincible Shield.
  7. Nine Inch Nails- The Downward Spiral A bit of an obsession of mine at the moment.
  8. Judas Priest- Invincible Shield Well this album is not wearing me down one bit! I am playing it on Spotify (waiting for payday for CD purchases), and I love it right through to bonus tracks. Still hesitant to declare it "best album since Screaming For Vengeance", but why not? I think it is!
  9. I don't hate it at all, or Demolition. Every Time I ever play either, I think they are okay. Nothing to get overly excited about, but I do think Cathedral Spires is one of the best Priest songs.
  10. Nine Inch Nails- Pretty Hate Machine Nine Inch Nails- The Downward Spiral
  11. Could do an era/style breakdown? If he's super diverse, that could work
  12. Iced Earth- Plagues Of Babylon Iced Earth- Incorruptible I will always be a fan of this band! Loving these two albums a lot at the moment.
  13. Cautious ranking of Judas Priest, including the new album. Remember, this isn't your list, I can't be asked to defend my opinions: 1. Sin After Sin 2. Stained Class 3. Defenders Of The Faith 4. Screaming For Vengeance 5. Point Of Entry 6. Rocka Rolla 7. British Steel 8. Hell Bent For Leather/Killing Machine 9. Firepower 10. Invincible Shield 11. Angel Of Retribution 12. Sad Wings Of Destiny 13. Painkiller 14. Turbo 15. Nostradamus 16. Redeemer Of Souls 17. Ram It Down Honestly not familiar enough with the Owens albums at this point. These 17 albums, I enjoy them all.
  14. Iced Earth- Iced Earth Easily in my top ten debut metal albums ever. Up their with Burn My Eyes, Remission, The Legacy and Iron Maiden for me.
  15. Shame he regrets Unia and all that followed. But he's entitled to look at his lifestyle work and feel that way. I loved their discography up until the last album. This is fine. I enjoyed it a lot, and I'm glad! At the same time, I do find my tastes these days align with their discography pre-Unia. Which initially, was the opposite.
  16. Absolutely agree. I struggle to rate anything out of 10 these days. Why? An album could be utterly perfect...but I sneakily prefer a clearly lesser affair. Example: I prefer Point Of Entry to Painkiller, but Painkiller is better. My most played Rush album is Roll The Bones. Its not their best
  17. In Flames- I, The Mask Judas Priest- Invincible Shield And now: Sonata Arctica- Cold Clear Beyond Oh dear...I love this band, but they are trying too hard to replicate their early days. Identity crisis, much? But...gasp...it is reminding me why I loved them. It sorta slots nicely into the early era. Great for fans who missed that era, maybe a bit too late to repeat their success?
  18. Lmao not you, you weren't a casual fan going in *though it was coming off a bit like you're hype for The Astonishing* However, I am loving both these two new albums. It is a but surreal to think this is where they are fifty years into their career.
  19. Did...did...did they release this the same day as Invincible Shield? Choices, lol Saying that, I still absolutely adore this band. As someone who actually loved The Ninth Hour, it's disappointing to me how flat the last album was for me, and I'm not remotely interested in this. But...I will try it.
