QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Sep 7 2010, 09:55 AM) QUOTE (Mustard Death @ Sep 7 2010, 08:58 AM) QUOTE (Ya_Big_Tree @ Sep 4 2010, 04:29 PM) I love David Fincher's movies (Fight Club, Memento) Memento is a Chris Nolan film. As for TSN... I like Fincher, but the trailer doesn't really interest me that much. I'll still probably see it just because Fincher hasn't failed us so far. Well, except for maybe Panic Room. I liked "Panic Room" a lot, and so did the critics. I wouldn't call it a failure. I think "Alien 3" Was Fincher's only misstep, and I'll give him a pass on that one because it was his first feature film. As someone who is a fan of Fincher and NOT a fan of Facebook, I think this film will be interesting. I liked Panic Room alright, it was just by far my least favourite of his films... until you reminded me just now that he did Alien 3. I think I'll give him a pass for the same reason you listed
  2. Come on guys, blackhawk may have liked The Happening (is that really true? dear god ), but he's right. This movie felt incredibly forced... like none of them cared at all except for maybe Mickey Rourke (ok ok, the speech was pretty good). Other than wishing I owned one of those giant explosion rifles Terry Crews had, I felt pretty ripped off after seeing this movie. I was expecting the best thing since Taken, and all I wanted to do was go watch Taken again :/

  4. QUOTE (southernjim @ Aug 19 2010, 10:05 PM) QUOTE (Mustard Death @ Aug 19 2010, 07:31 PM) QUOTE (southernjim @ Aug 19 2010, 01:14 PM) can anyone recommend any good DS games? The World Ends With You (experimental action RPG*) Shin Megami Tensei - Strange Journey (RPG/dungeon crawl*) Advance Wars - Days of Ruin (srpg) AW - Dual Strike (srpg) the Phoenix Wright/Apollo Justice games Castlevania - Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia Never been a bad Castlevania Soul of Darkness (dsware game, copy of castlevania) Chrono Trigger (rpg*) Definitely have to check this one out, I've been hearing about it from everyone i know Disgaea DS (ridiculously in-depth srpg*) I'd guess something Final Fantasy-like? Dragon Quest IV, V, VI, XI (rpg) Fire Emblem - Shadow Dragon (srpg) Golden Sun - Dark Dawn (coming out later this year, rpg*) Looks sweet from the trailers I've found Izuna 1 and 2 (rpg, dungeon crawl, roguelike) Kingdom Hearts - 358/2 Days (action rpg, only if you like KH*) Bought it, then my girlfriend stole it. Kind of a proud moment The Legend of Zelda - Phantom Hourglass (action rpg) tLoZ - Spirit Tracks (action rpg) already played through, good game Luminous Arc 1 and 2 (srpg) Mario and Luigi - Partners in Time (action rpg*) Mario and Luigi - Bowsers Inside Story (action rpg*) Mario Kart DS (racing) Megaman ZX (platformer) Megaman ZX Advent (platformer) Metroid Prime Hunters (FPS*) New Super Mario Bros. (platformer*) Okamiden (coming out later this year, hopefully*) Resident Evil - Deadly Silence (survival horror) Impossible to find a copy of so far, but I'll get one somewhere. Did they make the gameplay too touchscreen-heavy? Rune Factory 1 and 2 (farm sim/action rpg) Suikoden Tierkreis (rpg, painfully easy if you're experienced in the genre though) Super Mario 64 DS (platformer) Yoshis Island DS (platformer) *must plays/check out if you don't like RPG's... I can't help you haha. Damn bro, I think you're my new best friend! Usually a question like that gets me "uh..... maybe a zelda game?" and who doesn't like RPGs? If you have an older model DS (with a GBA slot), definitely play Harmony of Dissonance and Aria of Sorrow if you haven't already. If you like how Golden Sun 3 looks, you'll definitely want to play the originals first. Golden Sun and GS: The Lost Age came out on GBA and were probably the best RPG's for the system. Used copies of them shouldn't be hard to find, but if you can't track them down just ROM them to get ready for the third... which I'm super mega excited for And Disgaea is... not so much like FF. It has gameplay similar to FF tactics (or Advance Wars, Fire Emblem, etc.). It's grid and turn based, tactical RPG battles. Only with a high learning curve and a crazy amount of depth. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disgaea#Gameplay read that section of the article to get a decent handle on exactly what you'd be getting into if you invested in the game And yeh, Chrono Trigger is a classic, make sure you give it a go. Andddd... a lot of people don't like RPG's. I sometimes have trouble understanding why, but they exist

  6. It's pretty much terrible.
  7. I don't see why people complained so much about some of the multiplayer components in MW2... just learn to play the maps right and people who overuse the stuff you're complaining about won't be able to do shit. Anyways, Treyarch has always been more or less IW's dumb cousin... so this game probably won't be that great.
  8. I loved it, thought it was really well done. Edgar Wright and the rest of the cast/crew did the graphic novels some real good justice.
  9. QUOTE (fledgehog @ Aug 12 2010, 12:13 AM) emily haines is hotter and has a better voice, and metric is better in general. You misspelled Leslie Feist
  10. You are most welcome for that pic, good sir And I only listened to Riot... guess I'll have to check out the Brand New Eyes record and see what's up.

Also, this topic is no longer about Paramore's mostly mediocre but sometimes ok music and is now about how great looking Hayley Williams is. But really, on topic, I think Williams has a ridiculously cool voice. She just needs a more inventive backing band. But she seems to be perfectly happy with the band she's got, so more power to her, I guess...
  12. QUOTE (Sussossus @ Aug 11 2010, 04:41 PM) QUOTE (workingcinderellaman @ Aug 11 2010, 01:37 PM) I think that he was still in a dream. I think that the way the ending has you wondering is pretty cool; it could be either way because the top continued to spin but it wobbled. I hope they don't ruin it with a sequel that exposes it. I don't think Nolan is big on sequels. He did it with Batman Begins, but he doesn't want to do a third, and not only because of Heath Ledger's passing. I would be extremely surprised to hear of an Inception sequel. lolwut? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dark_Knight_(film)#Sequel He seems excited enough in those quotations... As for his other films, they aren't built for sequels to follow. And that's a very good way for him to do things.
  13. Seeing Scott Pilgrim first, but probably doing this one over the weekend. Because, after all, I am a f***ing man.

  16. QUOTE (Mara @ Aug 3 2010, 11:05 AM) QUOTE (tkdryan @ Aug 3 2010, 12:32 AM) Theres someone teaching shark attack survival . I could teach that, and it's a very short course. In fact, I will offer it here for free: Don't swim in shark-infested waters. Whaaat? That's a b-grade answer for sure. The obvious best thing to do is transmutate into a dolphin and poke them with your bottle nose...
  17. QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ Aug 3 2010, 10:02 AM) I have a thought that it will happen after George dies. I'd love to see JJ Abrams take over 7-9. YES, definitely. Also, imagine someone like Christopher Nolan or Darren Aronofsky doing a movie based on something like the Thrawn trilogy. I'm getting pretty excited just thinking about the possibility.

  19. QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ Aug 3 2010, 10:00 AM) I wonder if the commercials help their shit ass product smell any better? How is it a shit ass product? We're talking about old spice, not axe.
  20. The ones with Mustafa are great, "Swan Dive" is an absolute f***ing classic. But have you guys seen the Odor Blocker series with Terry Crews, directed by Tim and Eric of adult swim fame? The Old Spice marketing department team deserves some sort of award or trophy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpiGCLcsEbQ And of course the ones featuring Bruce Campbell... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Af1OxkFOK18
  21. QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Aug 3 2010, 04:27 AM) None of these "Expanded Universe" movies will be made. Well at least as long as George lives. Actually, theoretically, they could be made. It's very unlikely, but it COULD happen. Every EU plot device, story arc, novel in general etc. is approved by Lucas himself. None of it becomes canon and part of the EU without him saying so, I'm pretty sure. So if he has to deem it ok for them to become literature, they could certainly become a film at some point. Just look at that "Clone Wars" CGI show. If it exists, so could films and/or TV series about later EU happenings.
  22. Just started playing again, dunno for how long. New account, main server will be Azgalor. Rolling both alliance and horde... anyone let me know if you feel like running shit on that server.
  23. Anyone who has or is thinking about posting in this topic agreeing with the TC is no different or better than someone who posts something such as "new music is all bullshit. by the way, I only listen to mainstream FM radio stations." Great video games still come out. You are just way too f***ing lazy to find out what they are, what their name is, and what platform they are released on. *EDIT* Also, I have to say... I'm really sorry TC. This isn't flaming, but if you seriously have the gall to hate on something like Heavy Rain, you are perilously living in the past. You want more of whats already been thought of and released many years ago. The video game spectrum of media is evolving, and you just want rehashes of the same old shit... I can understand you not enjoying playing it, but to say "who invented this crap" is just ignorant. If somebody doing something new is that terrible, go download a SNES emulator. I can link you to the best one and some ROM files if you want :/ *ANOTHER EDIT OH MY GOD* I just keep having to say stuff. I'm pretty sure you mentioned Ratchet and Clank as a good leap for games. The latest R&C game was released in November of last year, go play it. You also mentioned some stuff about Call of Duty borrowing heavily from Medal of Honor and needing to come up with their own ideas or something. CoD was developed by some guys who made the original MoH stuff, but were fired by EA or something like that. That means that those "ideas they copied/ripped off" were their ideas... As far as RPG's go, play Lost Odyssey (360), Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey (DS), SMT: Persona 4 (ps2, but released during this "next gen" era), Disgaea 3 (ps3), or Valkryia Chronicles (ps3). I'm being way too much of a super nerd, but come on... you're just reading Game Informer or something, instead of actually seeking out good gaming experiences.
