  1. Agree with most of that. Andy is a much better technical player though. Technical proficiency is one thing, and of course that always deserves respect, but the question of greatness is whether a player contributed something new to the guitar lexicon.

  3. Yeah dude. Breakup albums are the best. Signed, Fleetwood Mac
  4. I like a number of disco hits from the 70s. Here's a short list off the top of my head in no particular order except the last one which I came to love waaay after the fact. Lowdown (But I feel it's more disco adjacent than died in the wool disco. Basically a masterpiece.) Dancing Queen (ABBA decides to go disco and ends up writing a song that symbolizes the genre for eternity.) Stayin' Alive (And really a bunch of others by the Bee Gees. They were titans of the form.) Disco Inferno (Unbeatable rhythmic hook, that awesome chorus with horns, and some kick-ass guitar solo licks at the end - in a disco song) More, More, More (A paean to sexed up and coked up disco excess and it's also the origin of that great "Steal My Sunshine" sample.) And my favorite... If I Can't Have You (just the best) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZVUzho-nok
  5. I don't hear a lot of disco in "Funky Music." I see it as a gimmicky funk-rock or funk-pop number that's danceable and which happened to be released during the disco era. But disco has its origins in funk among other styles so I get why some see it as a blurry line issue.

  7. “Infekted” sounds like a cheap metal band. That is, it sounds like a real band name. “Covid-19” is Japanese idol group. Given time, it might be. The Plague can be metal or punk, right? The Sore Throats - female indie punk band? The Looters - punk band or even pop-rock band from the 80s Mass Quarantine - metal (also Forced Quarantine) If you Google any of these names I'll bet at least a few are already being used.

  9. Okay back to reality. Is it a detail of Jupiter or an abstract painting?
  10. This one's from Feb 2019. I feel like playing with marbles for some reason.

  12. Btw, I should mention that I got the Ask Your Doctor About Xanadu line from a comment someone made on YouTube. Good joke. Unfortunately, not mine.

  15. Okay thanks for the reference. Self assured? Sounds then like he would have been right at home posting on TRF. lol. I don't mind thoughts like that. He's just being his own person giving his own opinion, PC police be damned. That sort of thing is becoming increasingly rare in Cancel Culture.
  16. Can you give up some examples of this high and mighty Neil you speak of that would justify your wager? I'd say smug is a better way of putting it. That definitely comes across in his writing. He's been living the good life for decades, it's easy to lose touch. Though I generally agree with a lot of what he says, it's sometimes jarring to read a travel book when he goes over the history of one place, only to jump into a diatribe about how the poor are ignorant and vote against their best interests. I still do enjoy his books though because I like his take on travel. He has wonderful descriptions for places near to my heart and places I long to visit. Far & Wide had some of the same silly off stops/historical markers I would make an expedition to in the midst of a long road trip. Yeah anyone that's successful is out of touch right??? In all reality, it's quite the opposite. Continuing to do things that don't work is the exact definition of insanity... Sorry but Neil isn't entirely wrong here... His money, success and fame is separate from objective truth. Even if the poor were to vote for the candidate that offers them the most support they're still voting against their best interest by accepting that position as well as putting their well-being in the hands of an external party. It would be nice to get an exact quote from the book with some surrounding paragraphs thrown in for context because saying the poor are ignorant and vote against their best interests is a lot different than saying segments of the poor are ignorant and vote against their best interests.
