  4. QUOTE (PuppetKing2112 @ Jul 24 2006, 04:18 PM) I'll try to. What are they like? Well, they are hard to describe but I think they fall within the Jam band category. In general they play longer instrumentals. They seem to be up and coming at least in that genre and they collaborate with a lot of other musicians. heres two links for you to check out if you wish.... http://www.myspace.com/particle http://www.particlepeople.com/
  5. to tang or not to tang?

  11. I scored 2, 10th row seats for Lyle Lovett, at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium here in Asheville, August 24.
  12. I was thinking that last night. I know theres a thread about books and what you are reading but they seem inadequate. If movies and video can have their own forum, why not books?
  13. Into the lungs of hell- Megadeth (short but sweet) Fire Garden Suite- Steve Vai. Other than Mike Mangini playing drums on this tune, everything else is played by Steve. Some of his finest piano work IMO.
  14. I have two of Derek Sherinian solo discs and they are the shit and if you like LTE check them out. His new disc comes out soon and include Petrucci on some songs. check out who else is one the disc and song samples including Petrucci here

In terms of musical tastes, me and you must be separated at birth. I LOVE every one of those songs. Some excellent choices there and one of the few buckethead songs I really know. If you guys like that stuff you should at least try some ozric tentacles
  16. QUOTE (Disco @ Jun 6 2006, 06:51 PM) "If you've got the time to really listen and digest this stuff I'm sure surfing along with the relentless waves of complexity is the bees knees. If you don't keep up though all that music just comes crashing down on you." Very well written and entirely true.
  17. All from ATWAS. Bastille Day Anthem 2112 Bytor Working Man
  18. Disco, give Liquid Tension Experiment a try if you have not so yet. Many consider a Change of Season to be DT's best epic. The remainder of that disc is covers but still worth checking out. From Awake, I recommend Scarred. from Images and Words, - Under a glass moon has an unbelievable solo in it.
  19. Steely Dan, August 12, Charlotte NC I think this will be the fourth time I have seen them. One of my all time faves.
  20. QUOTE (Midway Hawker @ May 16 2006, 06:51 PM) I went to Eric Johnson/Joe Satriani on Friday night in Reno. The Reno Hilton theater was NOT a great place to see a show. All booths and tables unless you got a "pit" ticket where they had regular chairs. We were in a booth. The sound was REALLY BAD! Eric Johnson was really bad. When I saw him back in '91 or '92, he was awesome! This show he didn't even play much of his own material. It just didn't sound good. And the songs he did play he improvised so much that they were almost not recognizable. Joe Satriani was pretty good. He's incredible with the sounds he can produce, but over-all his show was just ok. I enjoyed his old stuff better. 5 songs off of Surfing with the Alien.. Saturday night I saw Richard Jeni in the same theater.. He is F***ing HI-Larious! That was a great show. Also, I think I set my own personal record on Saturday for number of drinks consumed without getting sick. Thats suprising the EJ played poorly but I have read the same elsewhere. Some are blaming it on equipment?? I don't know but all the times I have seen EJ were unbelievable. I will also say his new disc Bloom is good, but not up to Ah via musicom standards.
  21. QUOTE (Cygnalschick @ May 15 2006, 09:50 PM) QUOTE (KenJennings @ May 15 2006, 02:00 PM) Curious: Aside from Dog Years and Neurotica, does Rush ever curse in thier songs anywhere else? One of the closest I can think of is in the song Heresy, "All the crap we had to take...." But I don't really consider that much a curse word If you want to hear a real curse word from a member of Rush, try " Don't Care" from Victor on for size. Oh yeah, I for one like dog years and find the song to be more appealing and more relevant the older I get!
  22. QUOTE (Milton Banana @ May 14 2006, 03:45 PM) going to see Spock's Beard tonight at Ridglea Theatre in Ft. Worth! General admission so I'll get there early to be nice and close. I'll miss not seeing Neal Morse singing, but whadaya gonna do? Hope you had a great time. Yeah, the beards just not the same without Neal, but I would still go check then out too. I saw some of the setlists from a few of the shows and it looked like a good mix.
  23. The Glass Prison and Panic Attack will be included in the forthcoming Gigantour DVD per Mike Portnoy. So will Cemetary Gates!!! source
