  1. QUOTE (Hatchetaxe&saw @ Jan 23 2007, 06:59 AM) What an amazing band. I have not been as excited about a band in years. I thought I would point out/recommend both of the Liquid Tension Experiment discs. portnoy/petrucci/rudess and the great Tony Levin. All instrumental. really good.
  2. Mastodon is reportedly recording a song for the soundtrack.
  3. QUOTE (the_masked_drummer @ Jan 15 2007, 11:53 AM) damn. sorry about that. mikeportnoy.com is prolly a good place to look... nothing to be sorry about. your link is to a unoffical DT forum. I am pretty sure that the one at DT.net is still closed though.
  4. QUOTE (the_masked_drummer @ Jan 15 2007, 07:48 AM) Someone asked before if there was a dream theater forum. This is the only one I found listed on Wikopedia: Dream Theater Forums I think that board has been closed. try www.mikeportnoy.com for a DT forum.
  5. QUOTE (Dreamline @ Jan 12 2007, 08:05 AM) QUOTE (Snowman @ Jan 12 2007, 12:38 PM) "A change of season" are very good. Probably because it is from the Kevin Moore era of DT. I believe Derek Sherinian played on "A Change Of Seasons" Yes, Derek is on ACOS and falling into Infinity. I guess Derek was my least favorite keyboard player in DT, however his solo discs are awesome! Petrucci played on one song for Dereks last. Derek also plays in Planet X, I've only heard samples of them but it sounds killer too!. Edited to say that perhaps you are refering to the fact that it was written during the Moore era but recorded by Sherinian?

  8. QUOTE (Snowman @ Jan 8 2007, 03:11 PM) Buuutttt, taste is like the butt. It can be divided. Opinions are only onions anyway. Catch my drift? Well said!
  9. Misplaced Childhood. Easily my favorite. I guess I have only listened to the first four discs though. When I heard Fish left, my interest in the group basically disappeared.
  10. I am not real familiar with his music, but the material I have heard is incredible. Definitely would like to catch him live. Listening to a sick cover of Voodoo Child now at http://www.archive.org lots of Robert Randolph shows to had there!
  11. QUOTE (Cygnus @ Dec 11 2006, 10:42 AM) Tis The Season http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lU7Udrdnfp0 Classic! Never seen that before, thanks.
  12. 65 degrees under a bluebird sky.
  13. I concur, great movies. Both of my children love it! I think the curse of the were-rabbit is my favorite.
  14. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Nov 27 2006, 01:43 PM) QUOTE (tangdog @ Nov 27 2006, 10:05 AM) Even without his anti-semitic rant I would not of seen this. Never cared for him or his work at all. Some of his earliest movies really demonstrate what a good actor he is. I'm thinking right now of The Year of Living Dangerously and The Bounty. Both really amazing movies and great performances by Gibson. I am probably the worlds worst movie critic. I am not really saying he's a poor actor or anything like that. I guess I lean mostly towards comedy and stay from from anything violent or gruesome. That said, I just don't have the attention span to watch many movies. The last movie I saw in a theater was the Spongebob Squarepants movie with my son. I do want to see Borat though.

  16. I prefer the books to the movie anyday. I've guessing that I have read the Hobbit around eight to ten times and have read the entire Lord of The Rings trilogy around five times. I've never been able to finish The Simarrillion though. Either actor would of made a good Gandalf in my estimation.
  17. QUOTE (steelcaressed @ Nov 24 2006, 11:04 PM) 7/31/04 Live in Baltimore, MD. Notice there is another show from '94 w/ it. The band are listed alphabetically. You have to scroll down pretty far. Enjoy. Most excellent. Will listen to it later today. Thank you!

Hair of the Dog originally by Nazareth was another good one to cover IMO. I don't know if I really like a lot of this, after listening to it once...The punk stuff seems to be their natural thing, but the doo-wop track was definitely not playing to Axl's strengths. Fortunately, my copy had the hidden Charles Manson cover, which has since been deleted due to controversy. And hey, it was $6 brand-new, in the cutout bin. I'll probably never buy the other two GNR CDs I need, Lies and Live Era. I say that because I plan on buying them when I buy Chinese Democracy. Yeah, obviously their original material is better, but like you said for only $6 how could you go wrong! I read today that Chinese Democracy now probably won't be released until 2007. Who really knows though? Have you heard the stuff that's leaked, IRS, Better, etc? It's really f***ing good. A lot better than I was expecting it to be. Sort of like GNR meets industrial. I have never heard anything that has leaked. Not that I wouldn't like to. Don't know where to look for that stuff. In fact I am so techonlogically challenged I still can't figure out FLAC files!

  21. QUOTE (BigG @ Nov 22 2006, 09:00 AM) Thanks Tangdog I totally didn't know about Nodens - that sounds just my thing. I'm really enjoying Dream Machine stuff - it's great to hear real jamming and playing with communication. Eat Static was good stuff - a lot of the electronic music around that time was very psych (the 1990s version of pshycadelia really) and they add creativity and a bit more of a than just 4 on the 4. Get shows / parties too If you check out Nodens let me know what you think please. I think eventually I will order some of their material. Heres a link to a myspace page I found while searching for some eat static. The fourth song is a remix of the Ozrics song chewier- mixed by Eat Static. http://www.myspace.com/ozrictentaclesuk '> http://www.myspace.com/ozrictentaclesuk
  22. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Nov 21 2006, 06:21 PM) Similarly, I haven't banned Tom Cruise movies just because he's nuts or Robert Downey Jr. because he was a drug addict for years. or anything like that. IMO Downey was only hurting himself and no else. Obviously his substance abuse did negatively affect his friends and family but its a different thing altogether in my book. I can forgive and understand addiction a lot easier than hatred/racism.
  23. QUOTE (Gompers @ Nov 21 2006, 04:55 PM) I gave the new Spock's Beard a listen. The first cut sounds almost exactly like their old stuff. After that, it is still a solid album. I need to give it a few more listens. I was disappointed in the lack of flashy odd meter stuff. I had hoped for more. Cool, I had forgotten about this release. Might have to track it down tomorrow.
  24. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Nov 21 2006, 02:02 AM) i watched the apology which was kind of sad, but i did not watch the incident itself, nor i doubt will i. reading it was bad enough, i don't need to see it too. how fast does it take to ruin a career? apparently 3 minutes... Its was bad enough to read it but I finally saw the video last night and its so much worse to see on film. Really hateful.
