It's excellent!!What should be my next purchase?? And after that, and so on. Well it's been 3 months since my first purchase. I now have all the albums and DVDs'. What an unbelievable band. I found some of it hard going at first, but perseverance pays off. The documentaries on the DVDs' gave me a great insight into the band, it's workings and personalities. Product wise, they really spoil us, don't they? Got the triple cd Live Scenes last week to complete the collection. Great live album. The definitive version of A Change Of Seasons, IMHO. Cannot wait for Systematic Chaos, cannot wait to see them live. Thanks to all TRFers' for the advice regarding next purchases. YOU WERE ALL CORRECT! And the naysayers? Meh! wait till you see them live ! Yes, DT must play Galway this tour! Theres few things better than discovering a new favorite musical group.

  4. Yeah, Travis posted that the response for the entire set was much greater than expected.
  5. That is by far the coolest art work of the 3 that I have seen. I wonder how many total sets he will issue?

Peppers Ghost. 14 all new buckethead discs 14 X 14 X Here's what they look like... http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/785/insearchofthe1hw6.jpg http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/6937/insearchofthe2ty3.jpg This guy's got number 10 but I wonder what number we'll get? I'm curious about that too. I saw at the TDRS forum that there is a list at the TK site? The review of the "I" disc there sounded real postive. It was a lot of cash but I had to have it.

  8. QUOTE (ReRushed @ Feb 24 2007, 11:39 PM) When it comes to rap I always go back to It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back - it's one of the most brilliantly produced albums of all time. There's nothing simple about it, nothing sounded like it before it was released and everything sounded like it after it was released. Rap may not be everyone's cup of tea but anyone serious about music has to at least acknowledge some of the innovations and expressions it introduced as a genre. Rap is here to stay. Get use to it. +1 One of the greatest discs of all time and I caught that tour.
  9. QUOTE (ReRushed @ Feb 23 2007, 03:19 PM) I think the criticism is not that Zeppelin is underrated, it's that they "did not give credit where credit is due." To say the least, Zep does owe a considereable debt to all those great blues artists (not to mention Jeff Beck). With that said, they are a phenomenal band. I love every album, but as for their latter stuff I've always has a soft spot for In Through the Out Door/I]. "Carouselambra" is one of my favorite Zep songs. Right on! They did rip off a lot of music. That said they are a great band however I must consider them greatly overrated. Presence, Houses, III in that order.
  10. Its all good. No time to hate anything.......... its a waste of time.
  11. Make sure you read the last sentence........... In addition to receiving his 20th Reader's Poll award (in the Progressive Rock catagory for the 10th year in a row!!), the latest issue of Modern Drummer announced the induction of Mike Portnoy to the Modern Drummer Hall Of Fame! Mike joins an elite group of drumming legends (Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, John Bonham, Keith Moon, Neil Peart, Steve Gadd, Louie Bellson, Tony Williams, Billy Cobham, Joe Morello, Carl Palmer, Bill Bruford, Art Blakey, Max Roach, Jeff Porcaro, Larrie Londin, Elvin Jones, Vinnie Colaiuta, Terry Bozzio, Ringo Starr, Roy Haynes, Dave Weckl, Dennis Chambers, Steve Smith and Simon Phillips) and is the youngest drummer since Neil Peart was inducted in 1983 to receive this prestigious honor! http://www.mikeportnoy.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=512558
  12. QUOTE (prog.fusion @ Feb 13 2007, 05:41 PM) yea, the first few minutes usually have little going on. its not......typical music. its not just gonna start and give you what you expect to hear. you kind of have to stay with it. but the payoff, is well worth it. I guess I should of said a few weeks ago, even before I read this thread I was at archive checking it out. I will take another try.

  14. I started to listen to a live show of theirs over at archive.org. Maybe the song I was listening to started off slow but I bailed after a few minutes......

    Ali G Show

I like the one piece, where he asks a fellow why they are not concerned about terrorists running a train into the white house. Pat Buchanan was probably my favorite interview though.

I have not been as excited about a band in years. I thought I would point out/recommend both of the Liquid Tension Experiment discs. portnoy/petrucci/rudess and the great Tony Levin. All instrumental. really good. Thanks Tangdog!! They're on my list. Transatlantic's 2 studio albums arrived this morning. Will get to LTE next..... Love the Transatlantic albums!! Very Yes-like, not a bad thing. LTE next. Are you also a fan of Spocks Beard? Well Tangdog, I wasn't. I was very much a '70's prog-snob to be honest. But DT have changed that. I guess Spock's Beard are next for an aural ransacking. Any recommendations? I got into Spocks Beard by being a DT fan and taking Portnoys recommendation. Neal Morse who plays on the Transaatlantic disc was the leader of Spocks Beard before he left the group. I mention the Beard because of your "Yes-like" comment. To me the Beard are quite "Yes- like" in alot of ways, including great keyboards, great vocals and the big fat rickenbacker bass sound. Heres a link to the Spocks Beard thread we have here. I posted some links to prog archives and you tube there of Spocks Beard. I love all the Neal Morse era discs but would recommend starting with "V". http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?show...hl=spocks+beard

  20. Eazy E was indeed quite the rapper. Straight outta compton is a classic and of the best rap records ever. Eazy's last disc ( i think ) was "Its On" and it is also very good. This disc was a rebuttal to Dr. Dres " The Chronic. Real Muthafuckin G's Eazy won that war! Rushhead666, I strongly recommend you give public enemy a second try. I remember saying you were not impressed with Yo! Bum Rush the show. Its takes a nation of millions to hold us back is light years ahead of their first disc.
  21. an entire instrumental disc would be fine with me.
  22. QUOTE (ReRushed @ Jan 23 2007, 09:38 AM) They were an amazing band, but they really took credit for a lot of melodies and riffs they did not write. That or they conveniently forgot. That is really true.
  23. QUOTE (Hatchetaxe&saw @ Jan 23 2007, 09:19 AM) Transatlantic's 2 studio albums arrived this morning. I only have one Transatlantic DVD. Talk about a great project/band. I would like to pick their studio discs one of these days.
