  1. The Classic Rock Era is coming to an end. The greatest musicians of our generation are retiring.....or dying. The Circle Of Life continues, whether we like it or not. LONG LIVE ROCK!! :haz: :haz: :haz: "Long Live Rock?" Yeah, right... More like RIP Rock. Are you ever not a drama queen? I don't think it's excess drama. The majority of first generation rock band members were born during, or right after, WWII. David Bowie-1947 , Lemmy- 1945, Keith Richards- 1943, Ray Davies- 1943, Paul McCartney-1942, etc etc, which puts a lot of them around 70 or a little older. The life span for an average man in developed countries is about 80, but there was some famous study a few years ago (can't find it now! :) ) that the rock touring lifestyle takes about 10 years away from the average rockers life. :( :( The music goes on, but something is lost when the original people start disappearing. Yes, the music goes on and will go on, but these men are irreplaceable and belong to a time and place that comes only once. It may come again, but it won't be the same. These men, and the bands they belonged to, we owe so very much to. I'm so very grateful that I was alive when these bands first came on the scene and to have known first-hand the impact many of them made with their unique sound and music. When someone posted in the Random section a list of rockers over seventy, I made the remark that we should steel ourselves because they would start dying one after the other. Shortly after that remark, they started dying. I don't mean to be a downer, but honestly - we have to be prepared for more of these deaths. I agree with you, Chica - something about being a famous musician that whittles away the years. Maybe it's the constant draining of their reservoir of creativity that shortens their life. Maybe it's the touring and lifestyle. So it's your fault all of these famous musicians are dying.
  2. Every artist from the current class did have a display set up. In the main hall, it is pretty much the first thing you come to (the section of the current class). So, I guess it is set up for a year and then gets put down for the next year's class. Pretty much everything in there is donated (and the displays mention who it is who graciously loaned the item. For instance, one of the Jimi Hendrix strats is in there courtesy of John Mayer) and rotates around as people bring stuff in and out. Unfortunately, there is only so much room to display stuff, and they chose to display stuff from plenty of pop/non-rock commercial acts as opposed to the true legends of rock and roll. Who's in the pic in your sig?
  3. How did I miss the release of this? I need to check this out asap.
  4. Hopefully you feel better soon. Food poisoning is not fun.
  5. Disturbed - Asylum Disturbed - Believe Sabaton - Carolus Rex Saboton - Coat Of Arms Overkill - Under The Influence Black Sabbath - Master Of Reality Judas Priest - Screaming For Vengeance.
  6. I'm going to the music store tomorrow in search of the new Megadeth, some David Bowie, and Alice Cooper.
  7. This album is alright. I'm too lazy to dig into the story behind it, but when I do I'm sure I'll fall in love with it.
  8. This is my favourite Rush album. Fountain Of Lamneth is better than 2112.
  9. I can't wait to hear this through a proper sound system and not my computer.
  10. I just started listening to The Astonishing, and am on Act Of Faythe. This is an awesome album so far.
  11. Indeed. Make it stop! :( I share your sentiments. I can't seem to ignore the fact that Alan died the same age as Bowie and apparently he had cancer too. RIP :( And Lemmy turned 70 4days before he died. :(
  12. By a long shot. When I had my old job, as a delivery driver, it was rare to go a day without listening to at least one album. And there were often months where I would listen to just Rush.
  13. Ladies and Gentleman, the moment you've all been waiting for.
  14. If I didn't know the setlists ahead of time, and know that the band always does two sets and 3 hours of music, I would of been happy witht he show ending after Losing It.
  15. I just watched Losing It on Blu-Ray while reading about it here, and l'm in tears. Such a beautiful performance.
  16. did you say PIE? Did someone say PIE? Did you really say PIE?? PIE???
  17. I will never forget your reaction when we got wind of the fact that they were rehearsing the song during soundcheck. :) I'm disappointed in the lack of couch burnings.
  18. Losing It and the run from Natural Science to the End. My only issue with Losing It, is that it made me cry and I paid no attention to Subdivisions. Losing It should of been the closing song on set one.
  19. I've got no problem dancing to Rush while driving.
  20. I saw it tonight for the 2nd time, first time in 3D. It was even better than last time.
  21. I picked up Apostrophe today, and ordered his first 6 albums. It's time to dive into his stuff.
