  1. The Weeknd-After Hours (10/10) Another guy who i think is making really cool pop records he's more on the R N B side but he is just really unique i think. Mick
  2. this record just passed me by in a wall of white noise. some people like it (way to go Segue, lol) but i can't get into it......since i loved gigaton this just disappointed me. But that's my PJ story in general. like one.....hate one.....and on and on it goes, lol Mick
  3. her backing vocals with herself too. a few of those made me back up the song to hear them again. i think she gets flack because of her image from that first album. but really that's not her (at least fully) she's hilarious in interviews too. like she seems really chill. i can't wait till next month. This seconed album was special as fukk. Mick
  4. Billie Eilish-Happier Than Ever (9/10) I REALLY REEEALLY like this girl now. i short changed her a lot. There's a handful of people trying to bring pop outta the mud. Olivia, Taylor, Sabrina Carpenter. WILLOW. i'd even put the Weeknd there as well. and yes......Billie Eilish has to be named. ESPECIALLY after this sophmore album. i mean. Take your pick of tracks on here. i was gonna list favs but it's literally highlight upon highlight for me. Her lyrics are super relatable even with me at 39, lol. she's mixing genres pretty smoothly. and got tyo say more nuanced singer then she appears. She has a new album next month so i'm excited. I like the debut.....but I LOVE Happier Than Ever. Mick
  5. this guy worked with pop acts. why he's working with rock acts like PJ and the Stones don't know. i liked the stones album but that production stunk too. Mick
  6. Pearl Jam-Dark Matter (6/10) OK so i've sat with this album and yea big disappointment after gigaton. i listened past the production (whis is also bad...done by the same guy who did Hackney Diamonds. another bad production job.) and this album really doesn't do much for me. More lightning bolt than anything else. there's my problem not an LB guy. i don't think i'll be revisiting this that often. Mick
  7. my uncle saw him in concert. he performed the entire show with his back to the audience. lol. and not once spoke to the crowd. Fuccked off after 60 minutes too AND....acording to my uncle. no brown eyed Girl. What a douche. Mick
  8. yea. his voice has remained mostly the same decades later. so the pitch correction had me confused. Did he blow a take that bad? if so he could do it again, lol Mick
  9. there's pitch correcting on there for sure. and i'm pretty sure triggered drums too. yea honestly this wasn't my fav effort. Like Gigaton way more. Mick
  10. or Neurotica Rush has some shit songs. let's not pretend here, lol Mick
  11. yea after the early 90's i wouldn't even bother. i mean he can but it's no new ideas AT ALL, lol BUT boy do i love theose early albums. Mick
  12. Joni Mitchell Court and Spark (10/10) Hejira (10/10) after Taylor Back to Joni. two of my fav albums of the 70's both Dealing with love and the end of relationships and the rigors of the road. so Tay in the 70's People act like Tay is the only person EVER to write this stuff, lol Mick
  13. i can't lie i played the first half way more. not a slight against patt 2. but the OG album just connects with me in a deep deep way. Mick
  14. i had hilarious moment abut a decade ago. i initially loved the garden (one of the few i liked on CA) then one day i'm playing it. As it's playing my brain just goes. "this song kinda sucks!!!!!!" never looked back, lol Mick
  15. Taylor Swift. The new album has re-kindled my love for her. it's dividing folks big time but i think it's her most matured layered album yet. Folks are saying there's no bangers. here's my thing. i don't need Bangers. i come from singer/songwriters where a majority of songs are thoughtful deep sad songs, lol so this album clicked with me right off. "oh i need to sit with this!" Not me, lol i'm glad she made this. Mick
  16. I saw one youtube comment that literally said. i don't know why every album is different. Stick to a lane bitch. THAT WAS LITERALLY THE COMMENT!!!!! i'm like why are you a fan if not to watch someone grow? Mick
  17. Taylor Swift-The Tortured Poets Department. i didn't post my thoughts yesterday so. She's since released extra tracks to this. but it's like a different album. So i'll do that seperate this is for the main album released yesterday at midnight. For Context before i start. Swift and i have a rocky road. I'm a fan but she's released stuff i'd call utter poo poo. and stuff i ADORE. 2023's midnights was a struggle for me. after she released the Acoustic Folklore/Evermore in pandemic only too follow that up with.....IN MY VIEW.....that's important.....MY VIEW a far inferior collection of beat dropping whining. Do i still hate it? no but it's at the bottom of my pile. So what i was was terrified of this album. BUT what i was greeted with was a surprise. It is is a breakup album. but what is here is a somber reflective swift. Less cutting then past breakup songs and more sad and a bit defeated but there is also an undercurrent of i think maybe i'll be fine in there. It was a shockingly mature take for a woman who normally lyrically castrates her exes. Now musically. it iust feels more organic than her past pop albums. Live drums and pianos and acoustic and electric guitars are all throughout. the Main albums Sound is steeped in 80's post rock. keyboarded drenched and beautifully layered. I get a huge Phil Collins vibe in NUMEROUS tracks. To me this album is one of her most mature albums to date and i couldn't be happier. Cause a lot of fans may not agree but she was close to stagnating if not there already. she said she she needed to make this. and i can't help but feel.....on SOME level.....she felt the rot setting in as well. this is a stellar album. Mick
  18. your list man......bonkers in that......red that low? Lover last? sigh...ok Mick
  19. Mine Taylor Swift release day gut ranking 1. Folklore 2. Tortured Poets Department 3. Lover 4. 1989 (caveat.....Taylor's Version) 5. Red 6. Evermore 7. Speak Now 8. Reputation 9. Fearless (TV) 10. Midnights 11. Taylor swift. Mick
  20. see this is what i'm talking about. i hear a great album. but all this. "a milestone in cultural entertainment!!!" you need more entertainment, lol it's a solid album though no one's saying it's not.....but.....take it down Mick
  21. Single ladies is a solo track. i hear what your saying i was never into her for years. then like i played her self titled album. i went woah a lot of this is Prince influenced and it just clicked. Lemonade is a really really good album too it covers multiple genres and styles and really shows that she's a student of music. I dunno if i'll ever call her a fav...like i just praised lemonade but i remember people flipped over that record like Jesus came back. and it's a good album but Beyonce not the only one to make a genre bending album, lol seriously lemonade is enjoyable but nothing to cream yourselves over. I have more respect for her though. Mick
