  1. The Shins also released a new album in March. You should check it out. VERY awesome band. Always gives me a positive feeling.
  2. I love the whole series. All four of the songs happen to be one of my favorite songs from those albums. Aside from Witch Hunt. Every song from Moving Pictures is my fave.
  3. Passion Pit has a new album coming out this July, as well. They're a fun band to listen to.
  4. QUOTE (Kelly D @ Jun 9 2012, 10:51 AM) It's not that great. Sais the person who has 2 pictures of her in front row...So I'm hoping Sarcasm? lol
  5. QUOTE (RUDT @ Jun 9 2012, 06:28 AM) QUOTE (ShlappinDahBass @ Jun 9 2012, 03:32 AM) I don't know what it is...But this song just absolutely gets to me EVERY SINGLE TIME I LISTEN TO IT! The orchestra, the trio, Geddy's voice, the piano...They just flow so smoothly together. This song always makes me just reflect on my life and all the good/bad times. It sometimes makes me shed a tear or two and give me goosebumps up the wahzoo. I love sharing this song with all my friends, it's just a fantastic song. This.....this is more than JUSt a song. It's pure art. Rush, thank you. I think it's a song that any music fans we'll love even not Rush's fans. This song NEEDS to win awards. That will bring me morale up for humanity ten fold.

But you still sound American... But I type with a German accent. You, sir. Deserve epic post of the year. And I got my Fan Pack yesterday. It WAS like Christmas time for me! You'll get yours eventually! Do not worry. The wait is completely worth while. It's a fantastic moment for almost every Rush fan.
  7. Completely agree. Cheers for these guys for digging back to their roots!
  8. In terms with comparing it to the actually story. I feel the artwork actually fits almost perfectly. Clockwork Angels is kind of a darker story for Rush. And the dark red in the background with the swirling effect represents the chaos and lack of order in the music and the story. The clock represents, of course, the "Clockwork" Angels. Whilst the different symbols are elements. Plus, the actual time on the clock is just fun. 9:12...Which is Neil's birthday and 21:12 in military time. I give massive props to the artwork.

  11. I agree that this album sounds like almost all of their albums mashed together. I don't see their self-titled or Signals... I could possibly be stupid and don't realize it, though. Enlighten me!
  12. QUOTE (FountainOfSyrinx @ Jun 8 2012, 01:23 AM) Doesn't Geddy play the synth AND bass simultaneously during Turn The Page? I think in one of the songs he does. My dad sais he recalls during a concert he went to in the 80's, he sang, played bass, played synth...All while messing with the bass pedals. He is no mortal.
  13. QUOTE (snowdog212 @ Jun 7 2012, 10:37 PM) Laugh everytime somebody writes I after hearing The Garden or The Wreckers. Really grow a pair RUSH isnt for I guess you think Alex Lifeson is a , then?
  14. QUOTE (SUBDIVISIONS @ Jun 7 2012, 12:20 PM) Here some BU2B Headlong Flight turn the page superconductor Animate Test for Echo Heresy Manhattan Project Jacobs ladder Caravan Nocturne Faithless Earthshine Peaceable Kingdom Stick it out Subdivisions Anagram Bangkok Bastille day 2112 (in its entirety) From there they can do whatever they want after Drum solo, more new songs, medley, etc. While I actually think BU2B being an opener to a concert is a really good idea. I don't think having "Stick it Out" and all the VT songs except for Earthshine would be a good idea. I think "The Main Monkey Business" or "MalNar" would be a good choice from S&A, though. Replace "Stick it Out" with "Double Agent" or "Cold Fire".....I dunno, this just seems like a very random setlist. lol
  15. This song almost touched me as much as Tears did. It's such a beautiful masterpiece. I hope they do play a massive chunk of these songs live. Neil's playing is godly, I am actually enjoying Ged's voice A TON, and Alex's clever placement of chords is just magnificent. The Wreckers also gives me this massive vibe The Garden has. All I want to do is close my eyes and bob to them for the rest of my life. lol
  16. Oh my, please no Force Ten. I love the song. But, Ged can not sing that anymore, IMO. His adams apple would crack in half attempting to sing that right now.
  17. Very well done, my friend. I am extremely excited to call this album the first one released since I became a fan. And your review has hyped it up for me so much more. Rush will live on forever.

QUOTE (LeaveMyThingAlone @ Jun 7 2012, 09:46 PM) Alex was fed up with the direction of the band and his continued lack of presence. He also said when they toured that album it was in the back of his head it could be their last, or at the very least there would be a long hiatus as they were burned out. It happened to be the end of their contract with Atlantic too. I don't think it was emphasized in the documentary but I do remember reading that was a dicey time for the band and Alex wanted to leave at one point If those guys broke up from that point on...Oh my goodness...
  19. QUOTE (Bastille Night @ Jun 7 2012, 07:56 PM) My initial thought, after hearing the album a few times, was that they should play the whole thing straight through.....similar to what Porcupine Tree did with The Incident (I know that Neil respected that concert, based on some interview somewhere). However, you make a good point about the vocals. This made me consider another option: Clockwork Angels seems to be a retrospective on life in general. It follows the protagonist through all the generic phases of life that you read about in philisophical-type things (i.e., bright eyed optimist goes on a journey and learns that life can be crap, then realizes what is really important in life). So, it might make sense to do the concert in different phases that follow the general timeline of the CA suite. To whit: Play the first few CA songs about yearning to leave one's upbringing and starting the journey (Caravan/BU2B/CA....discovering the world), then follow with a couple of early Rush songs. Segue into the Anarchist/Carnies/Halo Effect....things initially seem great, but one soon learns the hazards of life on the road. Next, a few songs from the Rush heyday. Next, 7 Cities/Wreckers/Headlong (things start to go shitty in your life), followed by a few 90's songs. Then, BU2B2/Wish Them Well/The Garden (you finally realize that this is what you're stuck with, so might as well make the best of it), followed by some latter day Rush from VT and SA. Granted, this would be a lousy way to end the concert, so they would have to come up with a great encore! I wouldn't mind Far Cry being a closing song. IMO, it's an awesome song for that kind of stuff.
  20. QUOTE (UltimoGuitarist @ Jun 7 2012, 07:30 PM) I thought this was originally just meant for having rush play the clockwork angels title track in the tour. I'm sure they will play it, but, I'm not looking forward to it. The title track is pretty weak ass if you ask me. Only songs they need to play from CWA is the following and I'd be happy. Caravan BU2B Anarchist Carnies Headlong Flight. Annnnd that be it. The rest are mediocre. I beg to differ. lol. Seven Cities of Gold and the Wreckers would be awesome.

The new one doesn't do much for me. All of Farewell to Kings, Permanent Waves, or Hemispheres would be insane also. Not to mention it would be the end of Geddy singing live. He would kill his voice trying to do the most of the material from AFTK and Hemispheres. I don't mind if they play all of the new album on the tour but I would prefer if they break it up a bit throughout the show. I don't think the whole thing will get played though. There's still older material that needs to be played and even with as long as Rush plays, dedicating 12 spots in the set to one album is still a bit much. I say 8 new songs get played this tour. Very true. I kind of forgot about his voice because of my excitement thinking about it. lol. Maybe they can pull some strings to make the song match what his voice sounds like now? I thought they did a pretty good job with Closer to the Heart on the TM tour. Closer To The Heart really isn't that bad vocally for him though. I'm taking about the AFTK, Cygnus X-1 and Hemispheres mainly. I don't think any amount of reworking can make Geddy sound right doing those songs now. That's why those songs and others like Anthem and Bastille Day have not been in the set in over 30 years. Yeah, you're right. I'm just having super high wishful thinking. I wish I lived in the time where he could actually hit those notes. Cygnus X-II is probably my favorite epic from them. With Farewell to Kings being a classic favorite song from them.
  22. Play with your fingers, use a pick or both, just don't do the flamenco thing, it's not cool! It's a technique that allows for some really cool sounds and chordal work. It's not "lazy".. it takes a lot of strength and control. Agreed, whilst some of the earlier stuff doesnt sound as good with the '1 finger' technique, it is actually very difficult to play consistantly. I've been playing for years now and it KILLS my arm to play like that for any long period of time. It's such a rewarding feeling, though. It really is! I learned Caravan a little less than 2 years ago and I've worked the technique in more and more as I play it and to play through an entire chunk of the song like that is not only a confidence boost, but it makes me feel like a badass with the bass! Ooch! That must be a rough song. BU2B would be insane, as well. There's one part that I don't understand how Ged is playing, honestly. It is quite a rewarding feeling. Goodness, I just need to go start my own band now.
