  1. It's not a commercial, it's a clip from Family Guy. The creator, Seth, happens to be a huge Rush fan.
  2. If you handle a vinyl poorly, it won't sound good. If you handle a CD poorly, it won't sound good. The nice thing about CD's are they're tiny and you, usually, only need one for a whole album. Bad thing about them is the music sounds like crap and super compressed. Meaning you miss out on the little things but you get the gist of the song. Nice thing about vinyls are they sound fantastic. Like you are there listening to the band in the recording room. They can give people in my generation a "retro" feel to using them. Or give the older folks a sense of nostalgia. Bad thing about vinyl is if you scratch or warp them, it's not a good thing to use. Or you have to go side B when A is done (not a huge deal). Personally, I like the popping sound when listening to vinyl. Gives it a classier feel. Just take care of your damn CD's and vinyls. Put the CD's back in their cases. Put the vinyls back in the sleeve on a shelf VERTICALLY. You shouldn't have any problems. The fact of the matter is: if you want best quality, you go to vinyl. You want convenience, go to CD's. As for me, I like vinyls because I enjoy better quality music.
  3. Loved the original. The remix gives it a WHOLE new breath of fresh air.
  4. A lot of people, actually...many music listeners are now realizing the immense difference between MP3 and raw record sound.
  5. Awesome review! First time I was listening to the remix, I was with a friend and gushing the exact same words to him you just said. Thanks to this remix, we have another fan in our ranks. :D
  6. Use Spotify. Their radios are A LOT better and they have the whole Rush catalogue on there for you to listen to whenever you want! It's a great transition from Pandora.
  7. Neil was ROCKIN' during Clockwork Angels.
  8. This past decade has been great for them. They haven't become more "mainstream" but defiantly well known in this current generation of music lovers. Thanks to I Love You, Man and Beyond the Lighted Stage. Obviously, they will never be as popular as they were in the early 80's but it still makes me proud of the group that they are still pumping out good and fresh stuff. Most groups don't, usually, do this when they hit how old Rush is.
  9. It sounds fantastic! Part of the "The Studio Albums 1989-2007" pack. Only problem I'm feeling with this remix is the drums on One Little Victory sounds "tinny". Lacks that punch. Other than that, great to listen to if you aren't planning on getting the physical copy any time soon.
  10. Not saying I don't believe you, but are managers really supposed to give copies to people days before the release date? Seems irresponsible to me. Regardless...I don't think you're raining on anybody's parade. 99% disagree with you anyway. Managers do it all the time. I know someone who managed a GameStop and they gave their friends video games a week or two before release. Manager says it happens quite frequently. Even with other companies involved with media.
  11. Oh no... This means it may not work for mine too? What kind of phone? iPhone, sadly. Biggest piece of junk of a smart phone lol.
  12. Anyone have a mirror to the album? Rolling Stones doesn't work on my phone.. :(
  13. I thought the album releases on Sep 30? Yeah, seriously, what's going on here?
  14. Is somebody holding a gun to your head and forcing you to buy it? Didn't think so. You don't want to buy it again? Don't. Pretty simple. I know I'm newer to the forum and it seems Gemini's opinions are always hated but I mean...I kind of see where he's coming from. On a moral standpoint. If you have some way to prove you own the original Vapor Trails copy, the most it we could deserve is half off or something. I mean, we're major Rush fans, so a majority of us will buy almost anything they put out just because it's them. But I like Gemini's opinion on the matter. I see Gemini's point too, but another way of looking at it is, Rush (and many other bands) put out remasters of their older albums all the time. Those of us who have the original versions can choose to stick with that version, or buy the remaster. In some of cases, the originals sound fine and perhaps didn't need a remaster, but bands will issue them anyway to try to get us to "buy it again." Like, my original copy of Counterparts sounds perfectly fine, and I saw no need to get the remaster. I'm not one who needs to collect every single version of every album, but some are into that, and those are the people Rush are marketing these repackaged/remastered albums to. You have to figure Rush would have issued a remaster of VT at some point, and here we have it -- but it's not only remastered, but remixed as well. Yeah, it was remixed because they botched it up 13 years ago, but we're talking 13 years ago. Do we really deserve a discount on the remix based on us buying the original in 2002? How many of you still have the receipt from wherever you bought it 13 years ago? Think they'll give you a half-price Remixed CD if you submit a photo of yourself holding up the original one? VT Remixed costs only $9.00 USD on Amazon right now. That's cheaper than a new copy of Clockwork Angels. $9.00 won't even put three gallons of gas in my car, but it'll get me a shiny new remixed version of one of my favorite Rush albums. In the grand scheme of things, nine bucks isn't a lot of money. Depends on how much you like Vapor Trails, and how much you like or don't like the sound of the original. You can choose to use that nine bucks on the remix, or on something else -- like a super-size meal at Burger King, or in some places, a pack of cigarettes. What an outstanding rebuttal. There is no original VT remaster in addition to this. This is the remaster, with the bonus of a remix at no extra charge. I think this is what any questioner of Rush's integrity regarding VT Remix doesn't consider. And if anyone still has a problem, then they've got problems with every artist that has remastered or will remaster their catalog. Right, it was a good one. But I was trying to make a point, as well. I bought the remix copy, as well, so I'm not saying I'm siding with Gemini or anything. The point I was making is everyone on this forum gets so butthurt about an opinion a majority of the people here dislike. Goobs is a great example, you guys always get so crazy and mock him about constantly talking about how bad Vapor Trails is. Yet, you guys are the ones who bring it up every single time and instigate him to come out and defend himself. We all have different opinions, not one is better than yours or vise versa. Now, I like where Gemini was coming from, I know in the business market it's an awful idea. I just liked it is all. The fact that it is 9 bucks is a steal, granted. Your point was.. what? I'm not sure what your point is anymore. There's nothing wrong with disagreements about songs, albums, etc. There's a difference between disagreeing and trolling. Most folks are fine wifh differing opinions. I sure try to be. 'x' number of people aren't fine with trolls, and I think it's fairly clear who trolls here and who is just giving an honest opinion. I think most people here ignore the trolls, some disagree with them, some treat them like dirt for treating Rush or their fans like dirt, and a couple dopes may cheer them on. What was your point? Haha sorry! I guess I didn't really explain it. My point was people need to chill out on opinions and semi-good ideas. Even if it makes the band look bad in some way, shape, or form. hey I'm all for opinions and semi-good ideas. Most here are. But then look at GR's response to 1001 just above. Pure trollery with his "I see your point 1001, but let me ignore logic and reason and blissfully troll some more because I love insulting Rush in front of an audience of thoughtful passionate intelligent Rush fans." I know about trolling. What he's doing isn't necessarily "trolling" per-se. But he's just completely ignoring facts and REALLY, REALLY wants to be right. Just ignore it. Trust me, ignoring annoying people go a long way! :D

  16. I kind of like it with the text! I like to flaunt my Rush fandom. Make two versions. ;)

  19. This sounds great! Some of Geddy's vocal tracks were kind of taken over by other things. It kind of adds a new dimension to the songs.
