  1. ATWAS. Heavy, raw, in your face! Geddy prefers it because of the live audience, it sounds more like a real snapshot of that era. He explains that Exit Stage Left "haunts" him because of their decision to pull the audience back.
  2. Wait a minute. We have another entire hour of Geddy for the Rock Icons show? :haz:
  3. They are getting ready to debate which is better: ATWAS or ESL? Whaddaya got?
  4. F**k it. AFTK's is still number 1 no matter what he says.... :codger: Yeah, what does he know anyway? LOL.
  5. Can I just say one more time, nice Caress of Steel t-shirt!
  6. Asked to rank a selection of albums: Moving Pictures Permanent Waves 2112 Hemispheres Rush A Farewell to Kings Signals Caress of Steel Fly By Night He explained that it's based on songwriting. Fly By night is lowest because it was transitional, Neil was new to the band, everything felt new and inexperienced, so he ranked that lowest among the preselected batch of albums. They played a copy of the forthcoming 2112 vinyl reissue, which has star holograms etched into the platter. Host said, "Comes with rolling papers too, I bet" :smoke:
  7. If Geddy could join any band? The Who. John Entwistle is his bass idol If he could have written any song? "Won't Get Fooled Again" Best concert? Jethro Tull (I think that's what he said, right?)
  8. You guys want show spoilers or should I stop? Anyone planning to watch this later?
  9. WIll you touch on all eras? Geddy: "Yeah, we're going to dabble... it's going to be a celebration of our entire history, I really can't give away anymore right now." :rush: :haz:
  10. Geddy: "Right now we have a set that's about five hours long, but of course can't play that long... We're doing individual rehearsals...Learning songs we haven't played in quite some time... Can't make everyone happy... have to play Tom Sawyer... we try 'geek tracks' in rehearsal and sometimes we just can't play them." "Is this the last tour?" Coming up after the break.
  11. First time seeing this show. I'm digging it! And, um, nice Caress of Steel t-shirt.
  12. Cool! I just found the channel. Playing a "Guns N' Roses" concert at the moment... I'll stick with the Thunder game until Geddy comes on.
  13. Chemistry: the Definitive Biography is quite good. I recommend it. Rock biographies tend to be uneven and underwhelming in my experience, although there are a few wonderful exceptions.
  14. Within reason, hope they play: Vital Signs Xanadu Marathon La Villa Strangiato The Weapon Want them to play, but doubt they will: Cinderella Man Return of the Prince Fly By Night Entre Nous (don't think think they will play it again since it was played recently) Digital Man (ditto) Hope they skip: Red Sector A (this one was a headscratcher on the CA tour, especially its sequential position) Reggae Working Man (traditional Working Man would be great) Far Cry (great song, but not enough to warrant a fourth straight tour, give it a rest) Dreamline (another great song, but it's been played on every single tour since its release. Since Roll the Bones it's been played more than essential classics such as Subdivisions, Freewill, and Red Barchetta. Think about that) Force Ten (and another great song that seems like it will not go away, even though it has on occasion) Oh, and about a dozen tunes from Presto through Clockwork Angels. :codger: :D
  15. I do agree with this. A Farewell to Kings, the whole album, had great tone too. His best period. I've been contemplating his tone quite a bit lately, and thinking of starting a thread about his tone. Appreciate this post.
  16. When I first seriously got into Rush as an early teenager I loved Jacob's Ladder. But along with Witch Hunt it's a song that just doesn't grab me the way it once did. I actually think Jacob's Ladder and Natural Science are both overrated. Natural Science is quite impressive live. I like watching it on the concert DVDs, but that's mostly due to how I marvel at their musicianship. I mean, I would never deny that Natural Science is masterful where technique and dexterity are concerned. But both songs tend to strike me as a bit regimented and aloof.
  17. Yes, of course, Aja is a brilliant album.
  18. Giving it a spin now. Man, I forgot all about Alex's slide-guitar solo in "Making Memories." Good stuff! I tend to forget how I much dig this album.
  19. I don't know about the members of Rush, but I f***ing love it! I'm sitting here playing Castlevania II: Simon's Quest with the Necromancer cranked up. SO badass!
  20. An amazing post! He is underrated! He can swing better than Neil! LOL! I love the way Charlie incorporates the China Boy. "She's So Cold" is a perfect example. The Rolling Stones Rule! Wait, what? I'm a diehard Stones fan. And as you can see, I adore Charlie. But I've never noticed his use of a China Boy. This amuses me. I'll go listen to "She's So Cold" after I finish this post. But yeah, Charlie is a badass. You know the story about the time he decked Jagger in the face, right? "Don't ever call me 'your drummer' again. You're my f***ing singer." That must have been a scene, man.
