  1. I would agree with your comments about the lyrics and that its one of the weakest songs on 2112. Thing is, even if it is the weakest song on 2112, that still makes it a top 100 song. I would rank it much higher than you have it.
  2. I had the same exact reaction to Stick it Out!!! Assumed everybody loved it. Guess you don't care for the ST album. Most of your bottom 15 I would roughly agree with. I might rank them slightly higher but thats only because there are worse Rush songs. The only real head scratchers for me are (1) Tears, (2) Second Nature (3) Speed of Love and (to a lesser extent) (4) Madrigal. They would be top 100 songs for me.
  3. Spindrift I would have higher than you have it. Likely top 100 but near the bottom part of the top 100. Sick It Out shocks me that you have it so low. But I don't really disagree. I don't really enjoy it. I might have higher than you do but thats only because there are worse songs out there. So no drastic argument - just shock a I thought I was about the only person out there who was not thrilled by the song. Peaceable Kingdom is one of the best VT songs so that means you have ranked just about where it should be - just the rest of VT would be below it. With the exception of Ghost Rider - that would be just above it. So I am fine with that ranking. Out of The Cradle is terrible - lower please. But you have it fairly low so I don't have a huge disagreement there. But The Larger Bowl at 152??? What??? No, no, no. Does not compute. Must respectfully disagree. Its a very solid top 100 song. One of the better songs on a very strong album. Should be much higher IMO. I really like this song. Next batch please.
  4. No major disagreement here. Its a decent song but nothing I am wild about. Controversial choices coming? Looking forward to them. That warning has me salivating (in an intellectual sort of way).
  5. No hate here. Some disagreement but no hate. Second Nature is a top 100 song for me so some clear disagreement there. Faithless I would rank high than you have. Its not a knock um dead awesome song but certainly not as low as you have it. At least for me. Neurotica I would also rank higher but again, its not an awesome song. Its just that I have other songs I would rank lower that you have not mentioned yet. Anagram is another top 100 for me. High Water is the weakest song on HYF (IMO) but it likely would still crack the top 100. Barely mind you so I am not saying its especially strong but again, I would rank it higher than you have it. But I can see the argument for placing it where you have placed it. It took a long time to grow on me. So far, from you list, the real head scratchers (for me) are The Speed of Love, Tai Shan, Second Nature & Anagram. Next please - this is fun.
  6. For me yes. Its much more enjoyable than Carnies.
  7. Been a bit busy recently but finally got the time to listen to some music on youtube: Demons & Wizard - Demons & Wizards Glad I checked it out. IMO its the best of this groups 3 albums. Good songs and Hansi's vocals were crazy great. Pity there won't be any more music from them but at least we will get more Blind Guardian. Still, very enjoyable (actually all 3 albums from this group were enjoyable).
  8. Interesting start. For me, Tai Shan and The Speed of Love are both top 100 songs so I don't really agree with you there. The other 3 are not anything really strong but they are better than the very bottom of the barell. But not close to top 100. Note - I would rank Half The World above the 2 S & A songs however.
  9. Respectfully must disagree strenuously with this one as well. This song is much worse than Halo Effect. At least for me it is. Should be ranked much lower. For me, up until Halo Effect the album is basically unlistenable. Is this song better than most of the material from VT? Yes. But thats not saying much (IMO). But I don't have the songs before Halo Effect on CA above much else. So it would be much lower on my list. Now I see why you said the next few might get interesting. Your picks did generate some disagreement. Keep this coming. BTW - glad to see you feeling better.
  10. No, no, no.. Respectfully disagree with this one. Top 100 song here.
  11. Not a song I go wild for so the ranking is not terrible. Mind you, I have The Way The Wind Blows, Spindrift, Hope &The Larger Bowl all in my top 100 so I don't really agree with your thoughts about the album but for this song you won't get any significant disagreement from me.
  12. No argument with this ranking either. Not certain if I would consider it uplifting but thats another matter. Interesting comment about the list getting to be even more fun with the next few entries. I smell some entries that may be surprises to us. Possibly entires that the common wisdom might have much higher on the list. Thats my guess what that comment means. We will just have to wait and see....
  13. Awesome to have you back!!! No argument here. I tend to skip this song. About where I would rank it.
  14. Exactly!! Side 1of Piece of Mind and the first song on side 2 are great. The rest of side 2 of Piece of Mind I basically skip. Powerslave though, when I listen to it, I never skip a song.
  15. Stratovarius - Infinite I have now tried 6 albums by this group and I think I am going to give up. Decent lyrics, good vocals, good musicianship and somehow it just does not add up. All the songs just seem to blend together - and not in a good way. They just don't click with me. I find (for example) Dragonforce to be far superior. Time to move onto something else. A group that just does not work for me.
  16. Took yesterday off from work to do a bunch of stuff that needed to be done. Dentist appointment (all fine, just cleaning) start looking for a new car (since some idiot ran a red light back in January and totaled my car - prices are still to high so I will continue driving my parents car, they are in their mid 90's and still drive, but only together and only locally, since they have 2 cars they let me use one all the time), a huge shopping job at the local co-op for the folks, etc. While doing all this I also stopped at the local book store (struck out - nothing interesting on the shelf) and the local FYE. FYE used to sell records and CD's. Now its mostly junk but once in a rare while I can still find a CD or record there. Well, I got lucky there. Found 2 records that interested me. Vinyl is my preferred medium so that made it even better. Listened to them today. They are: Demons & Wizard - Touched by the Crimson King Demons & Wizard - Demons & Wizards III What did I think? Well, the main reason I was interested was Hansi of Blind Guardian. As I have said before, he could sing the German phone book and I would likely enjoy it. Hansi did not disappoint. As for the music, that I approached with some hesitancy. Jon Schaffer of Iced Earth wrote the music and Iced Earth is a band I have tried in the past and not been thrilled by. Much to my relief it was generally decent and in some places fairly good. Overall, it was a very good purchase. Both albums were very enjoyable. Pity Hansi has stated he won't work with Jon again and the project is dead due to Jon's actions. But they obviously had put out one other album. Will have to check it out at some point.
  17. NP - feel better. I will patiently (but eagerly) await the next post. Get better.
  18. Worked from home today so that meant it was time to fire up the record player and whatever came out of the moving box got listened to. First up: Mozart - Divertimento #1, Divertimento #2, Divertimento #7. Next out of the box: Tchaikovsky - Symphony #6. Next out of the box: Johann Sebastian Bach - Cantata # 211 & Cantata #212. Next out of the box: The Art of The Baroque Trumpet. This is a collection of works from the Baroque era which involve trumpet work. George Frederick Handel wrote 1 of the 8 works on this record. Don't recognize any of the other names. Next out of the box: Prokofiev - The Classical Symphony, The Love for 3 Oranges Suite and lastly the Lieutenant Kije Suite. Last out of the box: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Symphony #23, Symphony #29 and Symphony #30. Turned out to be a massive classical music day. Not a shock. I have a lot of classical music boxed up. Probably own more classical then rock actually. Enjoyed everything I listened to today. All good stuff.
  19. I would addd that IMO Flick of The Switch is a very underrated album.
  20. Wow. You are either a saint, a lunatic or desperate for a pay check. Or a combination of some all all of those. Either way, you have my respect. Not a job I would want. Or hours i would want. When I was in my teens / early 20's (back in the 1980's) I worked several summers in a dairy plant and worked 60, 70, 80 even some 90 hour weeks. But the hours were my choice. I wanted the money - if I wanted to only work 40 or 50 hours I could have limited my hours. Mostly I worked in the ice room bagging ice. Ever wonder where bags of ice you might get at a convenience store come from? I know. Bagged them. 1,500 or 2,000 an hour. Running so fast so long that you worked up a sweat in 15 degree temp's for hours on end. The you went outside on brake, came back and briefly worked in the dairy room where they loaded milk on to trucks. I would get soaked even more there (lots of water there from washing milk off the outside of crates of milk - who wants to ship out something that smells of sour milk) and then back to the ice room where you soaking pants and jackets froze to you as you repeated the process. But I knew I was going to college in the fall. Best of all it was just hard work. Sounds like you have to deal with kids with issues. Not to my taste. Like I said, you have my respect. BTW - the only time I got to see Maiden live was on the Somewhere in Time tour in 1987. A group called Wasted opened. Have their lone album around here someplace.
  21. Not surprisingly I would rank it high than you did. Its another top 100 song for me.
  22. Just got home from the theater where I saw Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny. Decent. Not the best of the Indiana Jones movies but ok. Come to think of it, I sort of preferred the TV series "The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones" to it. I actually liked that series from the early 1990's. But the movie was ok. Glad I saw it.
  23. Just saw it. Decent. Yes, I liked it. Not crazy about it but liked it. Not as good as the original or #3. Was it better than #2? Hard for me to say. I only saw #2 in the theater and just once. I don't think I ever saw it again. I remember I sort of liked #2. So I would have to say I liked #2 slightly more. But that might change if I saw it again. As for #4, I a think I saw part of it on TV. Don't really remember it well so I can't compare. So although I liked it it ranks down my list of Indiana Jones movies. Note - I also liked the TV series based on the movies. I think it was on during the early 1990's and was titled "The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones".
  24. I would rank this song much lower. But since its off VT thats not a shock - to say I dislike it is an understatement. The very bottom of the barrel for me is Dog Ears and Virtuality, then VT. Interestingly you ranked Peaceable Kingdom as the bottom of the barrel from VT. Not that I really like it but, for me, it and Ghost Rider are the 2 best song on the album. Next please - keep these fascinating rankings coming.
