Yeah, and I can already predict who: Trenken Tony R WCFIELDS Rushgoober Pound of Obscure ReflectedLight GeminiRising etc. All the usual new Rush dislikers. Yeah! I've been called out. Maybe I can make a Treeduck poll now. Sorry, just happened to see you in the thread earlier. Actually, I think we need a thread for predicting TRF members reactions to CA. Let's put everyone on the record and see who can best predict the fanbois and the haterz.
  2. QUOTE (jesse2112 @ May 2 2012, 04:22 PM) How much is a pair of platinum tickets? For the first few shows on Ticketmaster that have Platinum tix available, they seem to range around $200-$350 each. But the best row you can get now seems to be around 7-8. The trick may be to snag these Platinum tix when they first go on sale.
  3. QUOTE (Storm Shadow @ May 2 2012, 04:16 PM) QUOTE (rummut71 @ May 2 2012, 04:45 PM) I still say give the seat numbers, pick up tickets with matching ID and credit card, immediate entry into venue. Problem solved. Like that tidal wave of common sense will ever happen though. That's what Maiden is doing. Much better idea. Yup. After buying Rush tix ever since Power Windows, for the first time I am dissapointed in Rush and their management, as they surely signed off on the VIP Russian Roulette Mystery Seat Gambit. Prior to the S&A tours, Rush tix were actually very reasonably priced next to comparable bands. Then prices started to escalate, but at least you could still get pretty good seats through VIP, though the best seemed to be through Platinum. Now with the VIP Mystery Tour, there's yet another obstacle put up for the fans, and it's sad to think that Rush was okay with this.
  4. QUOTE (TheHonestMan @ Apr 29 2012, 05:56 PM)Interesting that they are releasing more tickets at different times. I was able to grab a front row pair for Manchester on Friday. Now they have seats in the 5th row or further back for $50 more than what I paid?!?!?! Sounds like there have been a good number of very close seats for sale. Chances are people that bought VIP packages may be SOL because of this. So the front row seats you got were Ticketmaster Platinum? Do you mind me asking how much you paid? And how near the beginning of the sale did you get them? Sorry for all the questions , but Platinum is looking more-and-more to me like the best chance (among lousy options) to get something in the first few rows. At least you know exactly what you're getting, and they're "official" Ticketmaster tix so you don't have to deal with a broker. It still stinks to high heaven though.

I can absolutely guarantee that I won't be disappointed. I think TonyR knows something we don't! Like what Clockwork Angels Sounds like! No, I think he expects that it will be "sh!t" (his usual assessment), so he can't be dissapointed.
  6. QUOTE (Todem @ May 2 2012, 12:10 PM)I expect what I always get from Rush, great playing, great melodies....another great album. Fanboi! Don't you know the last great album was Moving Pictures?

  8. QUOTE (Tick @ May 1 2012, 04:06 PM)That's very cool to hear, Daniel. I guess their is hope to get good seats. I feel better about my sale date for Bridgeport on Friday. I dunno... For my presale (Phoenix), NOTHING in sections A/B/C was available and only rows >8 in section D/E/F. I was right in there at the beginning of the sale, and it was extremely dissapointing. I also won't be doing the VIP Nation Russian Roulette this time. My concern is that even last tour when you KNEW your VIP seats, I only ended up with row 9 and 11. (SEEMS like it should be close, but was a bit dissapointing for $300/each.) I can easily imagine many VIP folks this time ending up with perimeter seats in sections 12-15. I'll be trying my luck again when the general tickets go on sale, and hope the selection is better this time. http://media.ticketmaster.com/tm/en-us/tmimages/venue/maps/mtn/22510s.gif
  9. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Apr 26 2012, 07:27 PM) It's all good. Except for New Rush.

I'm sensing a new member title here....... And deny him the chance to show off his LOVE for Vapor Trails? We would never! Oh stop. You love your title because you appreciate the joke. LOVE is a strong word. It wouldn't be my first choice of a member title, but I don't make those decisions. It is pretty funny - I mean, it was funnier when I first got it, but it's all good. As long as you let me get away with shenanigans like this thread, I really can't complain too much, can I? Well, maybe we'll be on the lookout for a new one down the road... Superior Cynic Eternal Pessimist
  12. Gee, another thread from Rushgoober designed to imply that Headlong Flight is a mediocre song. BTW, Astra sucks. And The Mars Volta sucks.
  13. QUOTE (Gedneil Alpeart @ Apr 25 2012, 04:30 PM) QUOTE (trenken @ Apr 25 2012, 11:54 AM) Hmmm... I like the intro, the music in the verses (not the vocals), like the ripping guitar solo and bass breakdown section, and absolutely hate the chorus (big steel wheels). One of my least favorite Rush choruses of all time. Sounds like an S&A chorus leftover to me. It sounds like something the Beatles would do, 40 years ago. Not a fan at all and it feels incredibly out of place in a song trying to have a hard edge. Completely ruins the flow and sounds like it was written for a different song and just shoehorned into this. Wow! He actually LIKED something of a modern Rush song!! Not really. Only half of one sentence is positive, the rest is all negative.
  14. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Apr 25 2012, 03:56 AM)That said, is Moving Pictures necessarily a better album than the two Astra have made? ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY!!! Easiest answer ever, based on several Youtube listens. Are you somehow connected with Astra?
  15. I really like HF and don't think it's "slapped together." But it might be just a tad repetitive in the vocal sections. For the radio edit, maybe they could have used a structure like Iron Maiden used to do a lot: intro, verse, chorus, long instrumental section (nothing cut), verse, chorus, ending (like Where Eagles Dare). This would have made for a nice tight version of HF, maybe even preferable to the full version.
  16. I'm sure someone will say that Rush should open for Dream Theater. I hope it doesn't happen due to the shortening of Rush's set. But it would make Geddy's live vocals sound much better to all the doubters in comparison to James LaBrie.
  17. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Apr 24 2012, 06:41 PM) QUOTE (They Bow Defeated @ Apr 24 2012, 03:49 PM) QUOTE (presto123 @ Apr 22 2012, 05:01 PM)Goober I don't understand your thinking sometimes. It's like you are doing anything you can to discredit anything that comes off of CA. Just admit it is a great Rush song and captures their classic mojo in a lot of respects. Just remember, Rushgoober is the world's most pessimistic, glass-half-empty Rush fan (seemingly). Rush could release Hemispheres Book III with Terry Brown, and he would find something to hate about it. Not true! I liked or loved more than half of S&A! Seriously, I don't dislike something or only like and not love something just to be stylish or to to maintain some kind of consistency based upon what anyone else might expect of me in terms of reactions, I'm just giving my honest assessments. If it's great, I will love it. I WANT to love every Rush song and every Rush album, but I also can't force what isn't there. Sorry, I don't think you're a hater, but you do strike me as the eternal pessimist. You seemed to like HF at first, now seem to be talking yourself into not liking it. You've been talking for weeks about how you were probably going to be dissapointed with CA, and now sure enough it comes to pass.

Rush could release Hemispheres Book III with Terry Brown, and he would find something to hate about it. The first part of that Astra video (Bull Torpis ???) was actually pretty cool. But the rest was just recycled Pink Floyd, including a near-direct ripoff of Have A Cigar. There was some cool melloton, trippy guitar, and a nice build at the end, but nothing very adventurous musically, just a slow 4/4 beat for 9+ minutes. But at least it was better than those terrible Mars Volta clips Trenken posted when bashing HF.
  19. Very cool! In before trenken chimes in to say it's "crap" and he could do better in Windows Movie Maker.
  20. The steampunk concept is reflected in the airship, right? I stoke the fire on the big steel wheels Steer the airship right across the stars But is the hero piloting the airship, or is he in the boiler room? Maybe he starts in the engine room and works his way up to captain? Or maybe it's a small "pirate" airship where he does both, and comes up against The Wreckers?
  21. Not to ruin the song... But is anyone else reminded of the Georgia Sattelites by the guitar at the start of the first and last chorus (2:09 and 6:23)? "I got a little change in my pocket..."
  22. Looks like they finally updated the artwork and label (RoadRunner) on RS.
  23. QUOTE (eshine @ Apr 18 2012, 05:46 PM)Kinda feel bad for the D.J. in the UK who thinks he's premiering the song tomorrow
  24. QUOTE (Tarkus406 @ Apr 18 2012, 05:16 PM)HOLY f*ckin SHIT HE ACTUALLY SOLOS!! And with a WAH!
  25. Somewhere between Like and Love, so for now I went with Like. I definitely prefer it to Caravan and BU2B, mostly for the FBN/COS vibe.
