  1. The 80s, like the 70s had some great bands and had some shit bands. Aside from great Punk/New Wave bands, in terms of Metal/Hard Rok, we had so many good bands in the 80s.
  2. Ah, the Eaglezzzzzzzzzz........ Joe Walsh in the Eaglezzz was like putting Richie Blackmore in the Osmonds.
  3. Maiden. I wish I had clearer memories of Iron Maiden opening for Priest at the Glasgow Apollo on the British Steel tour.....now THAT was a good night !
  4. Muse = Queen without the charisma. Pretty lights. Great musicianship. Rocking songs. Elaborate staging. No connection.
  5. Not a well known song but "Sleep Like a Baby tonight" by U2 couldn't have gone down well with the catholic 'church'
  6. The reason I like forums like this is specifically to find good new music. It's there, you don't need to sift through 100s of bands, just peruse a few threads here. As well as the "won't listen to new music snob", the other one to watch out for is the "only their old stuff is any good" snob. This snob can be seen at a Deep Purple show yakking during the most excellent "Now what" material while he/she waits to hear Smoke for the zillionth time, or during a Maiden show taking a leak during the Book of Souls stuff while he waits to hear The Trooper yet again.
  7. They don't get a lot of love around here, but U2 is a great Arena/Stadium band.

  9. :laughing guy: Exactly. The zep fans on here said otherwise.
  10. Gary Moore is from Northern Ireland. Tht makes him British.
  11. We can add - Les Paul - Chet Atkins - Stevie Ray - Roy Buchanan - Scotty Moore Jimmy page Eric Clapton Jeff beck Rory Gallagher Gary Moore Pete Townshend Richie Blackmore Dave gilmour Steve howe I'm sure both sides could go on and on and on and on......
  12. Indeed. As are rap and bluegrass. I guess so is country/western? Bluegrass and C/W can be traced back to Celtic/Folk music brought from the British Isles/Ireland. Some claim Blues can be traced back to African origins. Jazz is a purely American originated art form.
  13. If you're including the first (and best) version of Marillion it isn't England, it's UK. Fish is a Scotsman.
  14. Both But had to go with NIN, barely.
  15. This was a poll of zep songs as rated by Rush fans, there were typically around 20 voters. This was not a vote of millions of hardcore zep fans. Stairway is exactly where it should have been, according to the votes it got. Why people didn't vote for it is purely conjecture.
  16. Levee. But my personal fave is Ten Years Gone.
  17. The Foos are a great live band and singles band. Full albums are a tough slog. Nowhere near as profound and important as they think they are.
  18. Rival Sons - Great Western Valkyrie Van Halen - Fair Warning Van Halen - Debut
  19. There's a lot going on in Levee. Far from simple. Oh and possibly THE greatest drum riff of all time. Absolute masterpiece.
