  1. I had missed them the year before, but I had become such a big fan by then that my parents let me go even though it was a school night. It made a big impression on my sixteen year old brain. I still have the shirt, but the sleeves are gone and it doesn't quite fit anymore. Ahhhh... the memories. Edit: I just saw the date in my sig and I was 17 by then, but you get the idea.
  2. QUOTE (snowdogged @ May 5 2011, 06:08 AM) QUOTE (tel @ May 5 2011, 06:04 AM) if lovin 70s is wrong i dont wanna be right Are you talkin' about women in their 70's? To a man in his 80s those 70s chicks are hot. As for this topic: Useless.
  3. QUOTE (Gilbertk @ May 2 2011, 07:49 PM) How do we know that you, "drbirdsong", is not one of the members poking fun at us? It ain't me, man. I'm too much of a fan boy to be a member of Rush.
  4. What member of TRF is actually a member of Rush?
  5. OK, I said I would never call Cosy Toes a troll, but that may be the best troll post ever.
  6. QUOTE (SeamusWiles @ Apr 30 2011, 01:51 PM) QUOTE (Derv @ Apr 30 2011, 03:26 AM) QUOTE (SeamusWiles @ Apr 30 2011, 12:33 AM)U2 should open for them Yes, open the door of their limo when they arrive at the arena. Awww come on now. Bono can shine there shoes or something.
  7. I'm a sucker for the MFSL versions, but the 97 remaster is one of the best from that group. On vinyl it always sounded so muted and almost dull. The day I got the 97 remaster and played it I just sat there through the whole thing thinking it was like someone put a cheese cloth in front of the Mona Lisa and then removed it. Overall I tend to agree that the 97 remasters are not terribly awesome, but in this case it sounds pretty good.
  8. I went with side one, but I haven't listened to the vinyl since I got the cd so I get it ALL (10+) every time I listen and it is the one I listen to the most.
  9. QUOTE (nealpert @ Apr 23 2011, 01:14 AM) So far ive found Rush fans very sheeplike and non innovative in thinking. Hmm Could it be? Nah. That would be unthinkable You're thinking of Led Zeppelin fans.
  10. nealpert is nominated for dickweed of the week. Give your facts or be labeled a loser.
  11. Don't tell me that you have been reading those billboards that are up all over the country telling us that the world will end in May. You do know those people are NEVER right don't you? (Actually if it is true then I will be on a boat in the middle of the Caribbean. Not the worst way to go. )
  12. Wow, love the Cleveland pics. Can't wait to see the Blu Ray.
  13. Bull pucky. I will predict that this is NOT their last tour.
  14. QUOTE (kooma @ Apr 20 2011, 04:05 AM) I hate acoustic guitar stuff! I hope Alex does not play any acoustic stuff in Rotterdam!! Well then right after the drum solo go take a piss (off).
  15. QUOTE (fordgt99 @ Apr 11 2011, 11:04 AM) QUOTE (drbirdsong @ Apr 11 2011, 08:28 AM) Last night I was looking around and finally found a rip of the MFSL that is an exact copy (WAV files). I know this still isn't the same as the real thing. You can get an unopened copy on ebay for like $600. Anyway this morning I thought I would give the 2011 CD and this one a quick comparison to see if I noticed anything. The details didn't change much at all to my ears, but the warmth of the MFSL lives up to its reputation. The 2011 CD is louder, no doubt on that one. The new one would probably be a good choice for your car and the MFSL a good choice for when you are alone in a room and just want to experience the album and have it be about as close the original vinyl as you can get. I deleted the files because copies are never as good as the real thing and it is stealing no matter how you rationalize it to yourself. If someone wants to send me their copy of the MFSL just let me know. Well here's a MFSL copy "cheap" on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Rush-Moving-Pictures-C...3#ht_2058wt_698 Otherwise, I don't think "acquiring" a flac version of this disc is as bad as those wanting $299 or $399 for it. I want to say these discs were $30 at the most when originally released. Nice mark-up there (or more like fantasy land pricing ) Geez, maybe I ought to see what I'd get for my MFSL copy of The Wall?!?! Yeah I found that listing, but I wasn't going to mention it until after the auction in case I won. It's gone from $10 to $40 in one day with about a week to go. We'll see.

  17. If you email them a picture of the damaged poster you are pretty much guaranteed a replacement.
  18. Ok it's my fault for giving this thread the "a mixed bag" subtitle. I am grateful that someone recorded the show and the sound is not too bad. I little distant. A few audience members that are too loud. But like I said, I'll take it any way I can get it when I was at the show. It sounds like an abridged version. The videos are cut off. Worst thing of all: 128 kbps. I'm still not complaining (mostly). I have heard much much worse. Thanks to the original taper.
  19. I disagree that it is filler. Yes Neil may need a break after the drum solo, but on earlier tours there was a longer break for him. On the second leg so far what he is playing is a very natural lead in to Closer To The Heart. Almost like a prequel. It will be on the live DVD. Watch, listen and decide.
  20. Not to worry if you missed it. It will be on the DVD.
  21. QUOTE (goathunter @ Apr 7 2011, 03:49 PM) Nashville, 2011-04-03 (though unfortunately MP3 format): http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OXGGOXRU (Found on Guitars101.com) Previewing it because I have a hard time delaying gratification when it comes to Rush, but the FLAC is always better (and easy to convert if you absolutely have to).
  22. Yeah and then the video is followed by a polka version of Closer To The Heart. I always stay for the end of the movie credits too. It drives my wife crazy.
  23. QUOTE (zogoto @ Apr 6 2011, 06:00 PM) QUOTE (drbirdsong @ Apr 6 2011, 04:17 PM) I haven't bought any vinyl in ages. I'm gonna try to get one. What do vinyl singles costs these days? The David Gilmour "Arnold Layne" 7'' single (the one with David Bowie) cost me $5 new, but I've seen stuff ranging around $12 as well. Wow. I remember thinking that 12 bucks for a new LP was high. If I find it I'll get it anyway. I have no plans to play it anyway.
  24. Forgot to mention the Cygnus X-1 ending of Working Man. I guess they didn't do that everywhere. Maybe they're getting it ready for the film. I just heard there is a recording or maybe two. Wooooo Hooooo.
  25. I've seen it twice at the show, but that is great quality. I just put it on my facebook page. Thanks.
