  1. QUOTE (Ya_Big_Tree @ Jan 18 2012, 03:54 PM) QUOTE (NobodysHeroine @ Jan 18 2012, 02:37 PM) QUOTE (Ya_Big_Tree @ Jan 18 2012, 12:42 PM) That's great news Janie. As for ovarian cancer... they are recommending even women my age 25-30 get checked for it because we are having a high development of ovarian cysts. I know 5 women who have had ovarian cysts before they were 30 and one actually had ovarian tumours so bad that they ended up removing both her ovaries. They say that ovarian cysts are benign but why do they keep coming back? Tumours on the ovaries seem to be occurring less frequently in our age bracket but if they turn out to be cysts, depending on the size and growth speed they can also cause a lot of problems. I've already had the experience of an ovarian cyst, and I'm quite young. It was completely benign and was taken care of easily. However, I'll be sure to get tested for ovarian cancer when the time comes, as well as other forms of cancer. Oh, Ged, I certainly hope that it doesn't go that far. Men sometimes just have no idea how great they have it compared to us. I detest being a woman sometimes... Well once they hit 40 they have to start getting prostate exams which let me tell you is much more uncomfortable than a pelvic exam. So they don't have it THAT much easier in that respect. A lot of men actually die from prostate cancer because they refuse to get tested because they don't want to have a doctor stick their fingers up there. That was a bit of a harsh generalization, and an unwarranted one. I apologize. Cancer is a tragedy. It can devastate anyone, man or woman, I know that.

  3. QUOTE (goose @ Jan 7 2012, 03:12 PM) QUOTE (NobodysHeroine @ Dec 24 2011, 09:18 AM) I already have, back in November. According to all the handouts given, a donation has the potential to save up to three lives. I don't like needles at all, but I went through with it despite that, given the aforementioned reason. That and it is the right thing to do, as well as something that not enough people do. It is a great cause, and I am honored to have contributed to it. Also, I plan to do so again in the future. So you could say that I'm not actually "Nobody's Heroine." (Rush puns, FTW!) Good work, NH! Thank you, goose. I believe that O- is the universal donor, so an even better job to you. I'll be donating for a second time this Thursday.
  4. QUOTE (SavageAmy @ Jan 17 2012, 05:00 PM) It's been pretty quiet around here lately! I feel like it's time to bring this back: http://i1143.photobucket.com/albums/n639/savageamy/niceview.jpg Yes, it has been unusually quiet. Don't worry, Geddy, we're not neglecting you. *Random song time* Geddy's bringing sexy back! Literally... http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y371/Priestess-of-Syrinx/Gorgeous%20Geddy/GeddyCleveland15.png http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y371/Priestess-of-Syrinx/Gorgeous%20Geddy/TheBoysinBrazilII.png http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y371/Priestess-of-Syrinx/Gorgeous%20Geddy/Bravado.png http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y371/Priestess-of-Syrinx/Gorgeous%20Geddy/vlcsnap-2011-01-31-15h43m27s238.png
  5. QUOTE (Sir Lerxst @ Jan 16 2012, 09:57 PM) Listening to "At The End" from Victor. Alex certainly has a distinctive vocal style. In both the spoken bits, as well as the sung bits. Also, some deep lyrical stuff going on. Deep. http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/pp141/Sir_Lerxst/r30-186.jpg Unfortunately, I have not listened to Victor in its entirety yet, but I plan to. I absolutely love Geddy's solo album, so I'm sure that Alex's solo album is also excellent in its own right. Oh, Lerxst. We love you and your craziness.
  6. I don't believe in the stars or the planets or angels watching from above But I believe there's a ghost of a chance we can find someone to love and make it last
  7. QUOTE (Vive le Rush @ Jan 6 2012, 08:10 AM) He sure wears a scarf well, too!!!!! Such a GORGEOUS man!!!!!!!!!!!!! He certainly does. http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y371/Priestess-of-Syrinx/Gorgeous%20Geddy/GeddySwoon.png http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y371/Priestess-of-Syrinx/Gorgeous%20Geddy/Geddy2010.jpg http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y371/Priestess-of-Syrinx/Gorgeous%20Geddy/time-machine-12.jpg "I'm Geddy Lee, and I'll wear whatever clothes I want!" Thank you, Geddy-esque Cartman.
  8. Yes, we teenage Rush fans are really awesome. My faith in my generation has been restored by them, as well as classic rock-loving teenagers. It would make my entire day if I walked in on two classmates discussing Alex's guitar work on Hemispheres. That would be full of win.
  9. QUOTE (alexlifeson- @ Jan 6 2012, 05:42 PM) Well, I do suppose I could share them now. No need to wait! http://i40.tinypic.com/k32hjc.jpg I literally couldn't breathe for a few seconds when I saw this one. ^ I wanted to faint, dfjsdls. So f*cking gorgeous, omg. http://i43.tinypic.com/n483zm.jpg Same with this one. ^ His eyes and lips and hair, his jaw line... everything about him is so sexy, so defined... Mmm, so perfect. Wow, I've never seen these before. They're beautiful. Where'd you get them? I have a fondness for young/70s and 80s Alex, myself. Those eyes...
  10. http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y371/Priestess-of-Syrinx/Gorgeous%20Geddy/Geddy2010-V.jpg I look at this picture and the first thought that comes to mind is: "Why must he be so beautiful?" Because he's Geddy Lee.
  11. http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y371/Priestess-of-Syrinx/SIRNeil.gif This is based on the "Sanity is relative" gifs on http://www.arwen-undomiel.com/. The above picture of Neil is from The Palace of Auburn Hills, taken by Joe Pesch, a fellow Rush fan. See, Neil isn't always serious.
  12. http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y371/Priestess-of-Syrinx/SIRAlex.gif This is based on the "Sanity is relative" gifs on http://www.arwen-undomiel.com/. For Alex, in particular, sanity is definitely relative. But we love him, anyway.
  13. http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y371/Priestess-of-Syrinx/SIRGeddy.gif This is my new avatar. It's based on the "Sanity is relative" gifs on http://www.arwen-undomiel.com/. Mine are Rush style. Geddy's was the most difficult, given that there aren't as many pics of him being goofy as there are of Alex.
  14. http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y371/Priestess-of-Syrinx/fangirl.jpg Yup, that's definitely me with Geddy. I don't say "Ohmigosh!" though.
  15. QUOTE (driventotheedge @ Jan 1 2012, 03:22 PM) QUOTE (Bastille Dave @ Dec 29 2011, 04:56 PM) QUOTE (The Mighty Dudad @ Dec 29 2011, 05:20 PM) QUOTE (NobodysHeroine @ Dec 29 2011, 01:58 PM)...snipped... I was only eight years old, ...snipped... This makes me feel f'ing ancient. yeah, I was 8 when I first discovered Rush......in f*ckin' 1976!! And I was 18 when I heard them the first time ("Working Man" on the radio and a friend had the first album).......in 1974!! You guys are youngsters!! Hey, there's nothing wrong with being "old." Believe me, sometimes I wish that I weren't so young! Sometimes I also wish that I weren't part of my generation. Most music simply sucks nowadays, if it can even be called music. That's why I love "older" music like that of Rush as much as I do; it is timeless and has actual substance.

A new picture for the nom files! Nice! I know, right? I hadn't seen this picture, myself, until only a few nights ago. New Geddy pics (especially ones as beautiful as this) are always welcome.
  17. QUOTE (proudlyrushian @ Jan 1 2012, 12:48 PM) QUOTE (NobodysHeroine @ Dec 31 2011, 07:48 PM) Ever since rewatching Live in Cleveland yesterday, I've been thinking this about our favorite bassist and singer: "Dammit, Geddy, why are you so attractive?" Only since then? Actually, no. I've been thinking that ever since I first became a Geddycorn (two years ago). But that question has been appearing more than usual lately.
  18. Here is my tribute video for New Years Eve. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAvDqWWFErA Happy New Year, Rushians everywhere.
  19. Ever since rewatching Live in Cleveland yesterday, I've been thinking this about our favorite bassist and singer: "Dammit, Geddy, why are you so attractive?" So here's a New Years Eve gift of the aforementioned attractive man: http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y371/Priestess-of-Syrinx/Gorgeous%20Geddy/geddy.jpg http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y371/Priestess-of-Syrinx/Gorgeous%20Geddy/GeddyCounterparts2.jpg http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y371/Priestess-of-Syrinx/Gorgeous%20Geddy/GeddyPresto.jpg http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y371/Priestess-of-Syrinx/Gorgeous%20Geddy/GeddyRed.jpg http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y371/Priestess-of-Syrinx/Gorgeous%20Geddy/guitar-11_1996-3.jpg
  20. Going through my Rush DVDs, I've noticed the many hilarious moments in the tour skits and outtakes for the skits. http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y371/Priestess-of-Syrinx/vlcsnap-2011-12-31-13h51m16s190.png Barbies: Wow, he's cute...sorta. Little Neil: I'm enormously powerful and handsome. That you are, Neil. http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y371/Priestess-of-Syrinx/vlcsnap-2011-12-31-13h51m34s163.png Harry Satchel: Cram it, bongo boy! *Little Neil plays the intro to "YYZ"* *The barbies sigh dreamily* Barbies: Gotta go! http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y371/Priestess-of-Syrinx/vlcsnap-2011-12-31-13h58m10s10.png Neil: Now, behave. Barbie: We're from Brazil. You're so strict!
  21. I believe that this isn't intended to be a poll, Bayou. It would be best for you to post the individual questions in the original post itself. We can't answer them this way.
  22. All the same, we take our chances Laughed at by time, tricked by circumstances Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose The more that things change, the more they stay the same
  23. Out of curiosity, did anyone here attend Rush's first show on the Vapor Trails tour in 2002? If so, I envy you on 2112 levels. I was only eight years old, and didn't know anything about such an exceptional band as Rush. My musical taste back then cannot even compare to what it is now. I didn't even go to my first Rush show until just this year. Why wasn't I born sooner?! What can you lucky concert-goers tell about the show, specifically? I imagine that the emotions were very intense among the audience, given that they were at the first Rush show in five years after a hiatus where there was no certainty that the band would ever return. Emotions must also have been intense among Geddy, Alex and Neil, given the events in the band's and Neil's lives before this point. Geddy mentions in Beyond the Lighted Stage that he kept checking on Neil, to make sure that Neil was smiling and laughing throughout the show. I recently read somewhere that Alex tossed one of his guitar picks to a woman in a wheelchair; he had to get a security guard's attention by kicking the security guard's back in order to get it to her. That was so sweet of Alex.
  24. QUOTE (Janie @ Dec 27 2011, 05:47 PM) I had my hereditary cancer genetic testing done this morning at the doctors. I went with the blood draw method but I guess there's another method where you rinse your mouth and spit. Should have test results back around Jan. 9th. I was tested for breast, ovarian and colon cancer. Good luck, Janie. I plan on looking into genetic testing when I'm older, as well. It's better safe than sorry, as they say. You never know, especially with the many medical conditions in my family.
