ILSnwdog
The next time I go to Wal-Mart, I'm getting dressed up to the nines in case someone snaps my picture. This is how I dress every time I go to Wal Mart...http://prom.hattiesburgamerican.com/sites/prom.hattiesburgamerican.com/files/styles/article-photo/public/field/image/dumb-and-dumber-tuxedos3.jpg?itok=HQHsWbkcHas anyone invited you over for tea and scrumpets?

I see myself in the middle of these two gents wearing a flapper dress, a boa around my neck, one of those very long cigarette holders in my hand, and a cloche, complete with a rhinestone broach, on my head with little curly ringlets of hair about my forehead. Stunning!! Wal-Mart, here we come!!! :) Edited October 8, 2014 by Lorraine
WorkingAllTheTime
Two thoughts: 1) I only go when I absolutely have no other option (generally when traveling and, even then, if I can I have the option I will pay 2 to 3 times more at an airport kiosk rather than give my money to the smiley faced demon). But the last time I was in a Walmart, I literally heard this conversation: Woman, probably mid-50s: What do you think of this shirt?Man, probably mid-30s: No! Come on, maaaaa.... that's the kind of s**t they made me wear in prison. :outtahere: 2) I am a social studies nerd. I have done a lot of reading on the supposed value of Wal Mart. Basically, here's the end result. For a small town that gets a Wal Mart, the research suggests a zero sum job impact. Translation: For every (part time, minimum wage, no benefit) job the smiley faced demon creates, another job in the town is lost - often at the expense of a locally owned mom and pop place that actually invests in local interests. Granted, I am at a point in my life and income bracket where I can choose to pay a little more to not support Wal Mart... but I still avoid it at all costs simply because I feel like an awful person when I give them money. Narps
Sometimes I wish I was smart enough to consider all of that. I just know I need something and go buy it (assuming I have any money at the time)..... :| Edit: I think I go to The Dollar General more now for just necessities than any other place.... It's a global economy, so people some where else are benefitting ... and no one is being forced to work for Wal Mart or buy stuff there.

Its so close and convenient and the clientele must be a bit different from yours. If it were in the sticks somewhere around the outskirts here I could see that.... :)

I go into Dollar General quite a bit but I've never seen scary people there. Now Dollar Tree, that's another story.

troutman
In this Wal Mart, there was a woman walking around in a cinched up trash bag... holes poked out for her legs, tied up under her arms like a halter top.http://media.peopleofwalmart.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/SafeRedirect-3.jpgHere's one for Aiken. http://media.peopleofwalmart.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/182.jpg Game on! :P
