nebbish2112
How did Alex use his MXR distortion back in the day? I'm assuming he would use the dirty channel of the amplifier for the main distorted/overdriven sound, and stomp the MXR to really make the guitar sing. Any thoughts? CygnusX-1Bk2
I believe he used the Distortion II not a + if I remember correctly and this was before switchable channel amps like they are made today. I always assumed he used it in line before all of his amps with a switch to change signal routing to different amps. Amps didn't come with FX loops then either. Players would have their amps modified to have a loop put in. He was using that box in the late 70s and was using clean and distorted amps into the 80s when switchable multi channel amps became available. Now he has direct and effected amps so clean and distortion are the same amp but different channels.
ctte2112
"I'm using an MXR Distortion Plus for distortion, which I only use in a couple of spots." Probably just for a lead boost.
micgtr71
That's a fine box and revs really nicely in front of an overdriven amp.
