custom55 Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 I know this is an old interview with Van Halen ( 1989 ) but Eddie does a quick mention Rush and it's the first time I'm hearing it so I'd thought I would share. Listen around 6:00-6:40. I guess it's a compliment ?
Ancient Ways Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Not sure what his point is. He's talking meter which is a rhythmic element and says we are I, IV, V which is referring to notes/chords for example in the key of a the I is A the IV is D and the V is E. not sure what the comparison is but he did do a lot of drugs too.
EagleMoon Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I think his point is just that Van Halen is a basic band, they don't do anything technical. Kind of like AC/DC on steroids.
JARG Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 It doesn't strike me as a compliment or a slight. He was just throwing Rush out there as an example of a band that does more complex arrangements and compositions than VH.
