Big Al

In the majority of the photos i've seen, Alex is using Big Al, the heavy black Les Paul.. why is he using Big Al so much?! Surely not all of these songs are tuned down a full step, are they? Edited by FountainOfSyrinx

Not sure what a "Big Al" is... one of his Les Pauls? As far as I've heard from Geddy during interviews is the only song they tune down is parts of 2112... one semi-tone.

 

And, I'm just a dumb drummer so I'm not sure what that means.

He used during Between the Wheels and Stick It Out in previous tours. Both of which are in a Drop D tuning..

 

He talks about it being a very heavy sounding guitar. I'm curious.
