C.A. is a classic + stands the test of time

It can be truly difficult this early on in the game to determine if an album will be viewed as a classic.

That said, the fact that it's the first and only full-on concept album, AND the fact that it's filled with such amazingly strong material and the theme works like the best concept albums do (strong theme with most of the songs still working on their own), I think we pretty much have a no-brainer in terms of an all-time classic.

And then combine that with the fact that this is easily their best album in at least 25 years... a latter day classic for sure!

The thing that nails it for me are amazing songs and the good to great accolades it has received in the press. Hard to find negative press. Rush has never experiecned that with any album they've released.

If Clockwork Angels somehow came out in '83 between Signals and GUP, it would be regarded as a classic...and would be much loved, I suspect.  I can't think of a single reason it wouldn't be.  You can't say that about every Rush album.

Excellent analogy!!!

i can think of a few reasons or songs for it not being a classic. tongue.gif caravan and bu2b being the first two songs to start the album. 062802puke_prv.gif

It's a couple decades too early to call it a classic.

You might not think that way if you liked the album more.

And I would be wrong.

So if it grows on you, you'll be wrong? confused13.gif

The song "The Garden" will stands the test of time, but not the cd.

Sure it will. Just because a few clueless people don't get it doesn't mean it wont stand the test of time. The Rush fan loves this album, period. Its pretty obvious this has quickly become a classic whether you think so or not.

you say that it's already a classic, and at the same time you say that it will. Are you sure that it's the instant love of many Rush's fans that make a cd a "classic" or is it the judgment of listeners after a period of time. I think that people are emotional about the cd, and that in a year, it would be another good Rush's cd in the line of Counterparts.

To me its obvious this album is a cut above the last few albums. That opinion isn't going to change. I can't speak for others but this album is not going to weaken in time. I think it will get stronger in retrospect.

This album is way better than an album like Counterparts, and it always will be.

the difficulty for the pooch will be the "tossing" aspect of the pizza making...that and putting on the condiments!
