Nate2112
Me and my friend started jacking around with our guitars and we were wondering, how do you get that specific shoegaze/washy sound that is noticible in My Bloody Valentine and Ride. Euphonius
I'd try messing about with chaining a reverb after the distortion. Even a light delay or flanger after that. No sound is set in stone as definitive shoegaze guitar. I'd say Ride have a harsher sound than MBV. It's down to personal preference. I've got some good sounds from applying the above technique. jdouglas
Boss ps2 or ps3, or so I've read. I just picked one up, does a lot to add space. I'm not familiar with the band, but they were mentioned in several of the pedal reviews.
rushfanNlv
Listen to some Cocteau Twins records. That will make your head spin. Most of these types of bands use delay and reverb with modulation of some sort be it chorus, flangers and the like. The Boss PS-* recommendation is a good one as well. Hook that baby up with a tone of reverb, slow delay and some chorus and play an E minor chord. Wow. There are also the 1000s of rack effects that are available as well that have endless tweekability and can really get you into a whole new space with respect to guitar playing. The Yamaha FX500 is one that I own and it can duplicate some of the Cocteau Twins sounds I like. One more thing, get an Ebow. Ebow + Delay + modulation is heaven. Nate2112
Great ideas everybody. But I got a g1next and it has tons of pedals built into it. So I'll fiddle with it.
