Slaine mac Roth
Well I'm afraid you live a little too far away from me for that purpose.
sullysue
You're right. But if that's your way of saying, "I would if I were closer," thank you. Although, it could be your way of saying, "Thank God I'm not closer."
troutman
First of all "THANKS" to all at TRF who helped me with advise on where and how to purchase my "first Bass guitar"!!! I am getting a Squirer Affinity-P Bass Package. I have everything but the Bass Guitar which had to be backordered. I can't wait to start playing after my fly fishing trip to southeast Alaska for STEELHEAD TROUT troutman

sullysue
That's beautiful. Why do some play four-string and others five-string?
CygnusX-1Bk2
5 string basses go down to a low B, but the rest of the strings are the same, E A D G. It can be effective, especially for fusion type players. 6 stingers go down to B but have an extra high string tuned to either B (staight 4ths) or C (major third, like the second string on a guitar). Both 5 and 6 string basses have their place, but for good ol' rock and roll there is no real reason or need. Fender does make 5 string versions of J's and P's, but again unecessary. Having played 5 strings on occasion, the 5th string can mess with my head a bit, in terms of the feel of the neck and fingering. Geddy does alright with 4, as did Jaco. All else is superfluous. sullysue
One less thing, or "string," to worry about, huh? Works for me.
