sfuentes
I think that a lot of people draw a lot from his writings, as does anyone. Many see him as a serious and impulsive guy. I don't find him as serious as people draw him to be. I think that he just has a clever sense of humor that you just have to 'get' to laugh at. Pah, maybe it's all just in my head. Pah, maybe it's all just in my head. He can be serious, when the situation calls for that. However, I laughed SO hard at parts of GR...the letters to Brutus in particular...this man has a sharp, even biting wit, a brilliant sense of what's funny, and one of the most sensitive spirits I've ever observed. Okay...everyone can skip the "I KNEW GG would be all over this topic" posts. This is what I do!

Midway Hawker
is it just me, or does Neil look older when he was 25 then he does now?
physics23
QUOTE (sfuentes @ Mar 29 2005, 01:03 AM) Enjoy! You'll love it. I know I did! Have you also read The Masked Rider? Pick that up too! It's great! I haven't gotten around to reading Neil's books yet, but I am aware of the very mixed reviews they earned at Amazon. I'm wondering, since you liked them so much, what your general taste in literature is - favorite books, authors?

I've yet to read any of Ayn Rand's books, but I'm looking forward to doing so.

Margana
I finished Ghost Rider a few weeks ago and I am now 100 pages into Traveling Music. If you are a Neil Peart fan (which I am) you will find something to relate to in the books. Ghost Rider deals with his attempt to overcome the loss of his daughter and wife and throws in some good descriptions of various parts the US and Canada. I will be going on holiday in August to the West Coast of the US and I am looking forward to seeing some of the places he describes. Perhaps I may even meet him!! Travelling Music (as far as I can tell) details his life as he travels along listening to music which influenced him or played some part in his life. I was particularly pleased that his early interests included The Who and Keith Moon (my boyhood idol). He tells of nearly drowning and bullying at school (you can see where Kid Gloves and Subdivisions came from). I think reading tastes are irrelevant - if you like Neil, read the books!
