rushringleader
For English Class, we had to make a chapbook and I did Fear, inspired by the Rush Fear trilogy. I am no poet, but I thought I would post it here for you guys to see. There are some music references/word play. This chapbook is dedicated to three Canadian fellows, Dirk, Lerxst, and Pratt, otherwise known as Rush and their Fear Trilogy (which happens to have four parts...) FEAR: The Overture can change us can make us can move us is what we are will come in many forms from others from yourself from knowledge surrounds compounds there is none is never born never dies is forever cannot be resisted is a united force cannot be conquered cannot be changed cannot be made cannot move is forever FEAR: Knowledge When a matter is not on the mind the fear is not there If the knowledge is not known the fear is not known Suddenly ahead, what is there? A motionless mass in a shroud of darkness It could be anything a bear a scare crow Curiosity overwhelms a fear of something or is it nothing? The comfort of knowning The terror of knowing The fear of a knowledge void The fear of the unknown Messages in words, in pictures, in sound the whole world around us the knowledge they hold can lead to indifference intrigue or Fear FEAR: Others People conform to fit a group a norm They feel as though they are missing something from being left out a longing Sometimes, people fear not being unique an individual And turn to extreme methods to distance themselves from the crowd a mob Some push others out of a group a bully or tell the other to change a reinvention You can choose to be yourself a soul Its your show a stage Step beyond a guilded cage an illusion And follow freewill a choice FEAR: Yourself The over analysis of surroundings Your imagination spins Was the shadow that passed by a car down the road outside or a swooping lurker? Nerves aware of all sensations A tickle Was that a stray hair or a venomous spider? These fears unique to just a few Is it a proper reaction or an unneccessary action? Events so minute or so large Led to an undeniable fear Letting fear control ones life Missing out on adventure Giving up on dreams Should be the biggest fear of all Fight or Flight? Neither here nor there... Visions Illusions What is tangible, What is here! Loss of insight Loss of fright The time is now Fight or Flight? The senses aware Still no scare The choice must be made A sense of Chaos Inner Turbulence Whats Happening!?!? Hair on end BREATH Your move Fight
