I just listened to Tool for the first time today, and they were really good. Maybe my opinion will change over time, but I think DT is better.

Tool virgin ohmy.gif

What did you hear? Check out The Pot, the other tracks I suggested and the OP on the other tool thread, reflection. biggrin.gif enjoy smile.gif tool is a unique band, just ignore the fan base and stuff. Maynard really is a great singer and unique lyricist, Adam jones is a skilled guitarist who adds a lot to the song, JC is a great bassist and brings out a meditative depth to the song and Danny Carrey is one of the best drummers out there.

I listened to AEnima. I also have 10,000 Days which I'll listen to tomorrow.

Get Lateralus too! (my fave track is on there!) 1022.gif

Opiate and Undertow are very good albums.

Aenima and 10,000 Days are great albums.

Lateralus is a BRILLIANT album.

Thanks for bringing this poll back to the surface Duck!

The answer is too easy.

TOOL FOOL!

LOL!

Wet Dream Theater fans think that TOOL is just one dimensional, yet in reality they are Beyond Beyond.

TOOL is a 4 dimensional band with a drummer that blows most away. That included Cap't Blueballs, I mean Bluebeard Mike.

Danny doesn't need two drum thrones or have three kick drums.

Danny blows Mike away.

You really can't compare Neil to Danny because they come from different decades of supreme kickassness.

You see, to me Danny Carey is Neil Peart Jr.

He has the torch held proudly high in hand like the Red Star.

The last time I saw Tool was in Oakland and Danny's kit looked like Neil's from the Seventies. Gong included.

He blew my fuckking mind as usual.

Sure the videos can get old and stale, but the music is fukking EPIC.

Funny, I've never heard TOOL do a fukking lame ass cover song.

It's funny how many say my polls are apples to oranges.

Time to stick a banana up Mike's tailpipe and give Petrucci some more HGH.

Maynard grows grapes and makes wine in Arizona. He is a real winner and a risk taker that is paying off.

Thanks again Duck, now I might go into a serious TOOL phase.

When is their new album coming out?

They apparently started writing songs for a new album last spring, so they must be well on with that now.

Hey Earl don't forget to post your favourite TOOL song in the my top TOOL tunes thread!

Hey Pat!

I would love to pick one TOOL song as my favorite but they all sound the same!

(snare to cymbal crash)

I think I know it, but since this is a TOOL Thread have you seen Maynard's movie entitled "Blood Into Wine?"

It's fantastic and I hate wine.

Even Tim Alexander is in the movie for about 4 seconds.

Classic shit.

PRIMUS SUCKS!

I know little about Tool. I have never been a fan.

but why is everything an excuse to rip on Dream Theater?

Dream Theater makes great music is a music world that is mostly a sea of crap. If you want to rip on bands, why not do it to shitty bands like Nickelback who just plain blow.

Be thankful for bands like Dream Theater who actually make music worth listening to, or be a homo and listen to JayZ. Its your choice. atickhum.gif

My post was not a DT rip. DT has written some extremely creative material. IF DT took notes from tool, so what? Bands do that from DT and it's not an issue. In fact, it could be said that there is no truly original music, just further adaptions from existing music. Influence is a key factor when writing music.

pretty sure Tick was not referring to your post but to Earls on the prior page.

to my knowledge RUSHHEAD666 has seen DT more times than anyone else here at TRF. he must of been a huge fan at one point in time.

He is like a Fanboi turned Troll.

FanTroi?
