Crockettsonny84
I know that effects can be put in certain orders to give distinct tones. Does anyone know what his configuration is and what his primary effects are. Ive looked through all the tour books and got some reliable information but after P/G he makes a joke out of all of it (which he usually does ). Also, on the Permanent Waves tour book, it mentions he used an SG on that tour. Is this true? any pictures?
rushfanNlv
Click me.<--that is a pretty good representation of what Alex has used over the years. One error I have noticed is that he started using the MXR distortion way before the moving pictures album but this article does not mention the pedal until MP. As far as order goes, who knows. Most people say to always use chorus before delay but I've used it in the opposite order before and yielded good results (check my clips). Pedal order is a trial and error thing. I've been playing around with compression after distortion and it's very interesting.
1-0-0-1-0-0-1
QUOTE (rushfanNlv @ Jul 5 2008, 12:20 PM) Pedal order is a trial and error thing. I've been playing around with compression after distortion and it's very interesting. When I was using the MXR Dyna Comp and Distortion + pedals, I always had the comp before the distortion. Much smoother sustain and much less noise. The noise factor is why a comp is usually first in the signal chain.

That is the way I have my chain set up: dyna comp then the MXR dirt boxes (D+ and the Micro Amp) and the way I will keep it but just for fun, I swapped locations and it was very cool. The dyna comp basically fuzzed out the distortion pedal. Not a big fan of fuzz. Edited July 5, 2008 by rushfanNlv

Alex' Korg MPK-130 MIDI bass pedals control an Emulator II synthesizer, which is sent to the house. A Yamaha QX-1 sequencer controls another Emulator II (which is also connected to the house) and is activated by a trigger footswitch.
