war2112 Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 O.K., I know this is more than a little subjective, because what really defines a cult movie? Sometimes it's movies that are universally panned by critics and moviegoers alike but then build an amazing following and are rented over and over again. Sometimes it's small-budget releases that spread by word of mouth. My favorite is probably Repo Man. I really got a kick out of this movie. Completely far-fetched, but somehow it works. What's your favorite? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Emilio Estevez - "Wow, that was intense" Harry Dean Stanton - "Repo Man's always intense"
sfuentes Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 Not exactly a 'cult' movie, but I really liked "The Wall".

Moonraker Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 My favorite cult movie, none other then the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Is it wrong to know all the lyrics to the songs and have a Frankenfurter costume? http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Cinema/2636/pic-coll1/capeless.jpg

I really thought Rocky Horror would be the first response here. I'll never forget the first time naive me went to see this, on a rowdy college campus, no less. I just could not fathom that people were throwing popcorn at me or that guys dressed as women were doing the "time warp" again and again and again. I was in fear for my life during that show. What an experience.
xanadu66 Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 The Rocky Horror Picture Show is my cult favorite too... although I like Riff Raff more than Frankenfurter http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v477/rushchick/lips.jpg
Slaine mac Roth Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 I'm split between two. I'll confess that I'm also a bit RHPS fan (and I know most of the dialogue backwards and, being such a lecher, think Susan Sarandon had rarely looked better). Choice no 2 has got to be Dark Star - probaly the best SF comedy ever made (yes, even better than Red Dwarf).
Snowdog Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 Does Spinal Tap count as a "cult" movie? If so, it's mine
hap Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 Apocaypse now. But my favourite cult director is (was) Kubrick.
war2112 Posted January 23, 2005 Author Posted January 23, 2005 QUOTE (Cygnus @ Jan 23 2005, 08:03 AM) The original Darkman was cool That was a good one.

Jack Aubrey Posted January 23, 2005 Posted January 23, 2005 'Big Trouble In Little China' and 'The Adventures Of Buckaroo Banzai'.

war2112 Posted January 23, 2005 Author Posted January 23, 2005 QUOTE (Batman @ Jan 23 2005, 06:11 PM) Brain Donors and Army of Darkness Allright! You all are really bringing it. I have seen Army of Darkness. Great pick. I'll have to look for the Brain Donors. I hope it's as deliciously sick as it sounds.
war2112 Posted January 23, 2005 Author Posted January 23, 2005 I just thought of another one. How about Brazil. Oh, and Time Bandits, another Terry Gilliam film.
