Lerxster Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Dedicated to STS-123 Lit up with anticipation We arrive at the launching site The sky is still dark, nearing dawn On the Florida coastline Circling choppers slash the night With roving searchlight beams This magic day when super-science Mingles with the bright stuff of dreams Floodlit in the hazy distance The star of this unearthly show Venting vapours, like the breath Of a sleeping white dragon Crackling speakers, voices tense Resume the final count All systems check, T minus nine As the sun and the drama start to mount The air is charged - a humid, motionless mass The crowds and the cameras, The cars full of spectators pass Excitement so thick - you could cut it with a knife Technology - high, on the leading edge of life The earth beneath us starts to tremble With the spreading of a low black cloud A thunderous roar shakes the air Like the whole world exploding Scorching blast of golden fire As it slowly leaves the ground Tears away with a mighty force The air is shattered by the awesome sound Like a pillar of cloud, the smoke lingers High in the air In fascination - with the eyes of the world We stare...
Lerxster Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 This is the springtime of my loving - the second season I am to know You are the sunlight in my growing - so little warmth I've felt before It isn't hard to feel me glowing - I watched the fire that grew so low It is the summer of my smiles - flee from me Keepers of the Gloom Speak to me only with your eyes - it is to you I give this tune Ain't so hard to recognize - These things are clear to all from time to time I've felt the coldness of my winter I never thought it would ever go I cursed the gloom that set upon us But I know that I love you so These are the seasons of emotion - and like the wind they rise and fall This is the wonder of devotion - I see the torch we all must hold This is the mystery of the quotient - upon us all a little rain must fall

Lerxster Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 How many times Do we tire of all the little battles Threaten to call it quits Tempted to cut and run How many times Do we weather out the stormy evenings Long to slam the front door Drive away into the setting sun Keep going on till dawn How many times must another line be drawn We could be down and gone But we hold on How many times Do we chafe against the repetition Straining against a fate Measured out in coffee breaks How many times Do we swallow our ambition Long to give up the same old way Find another road to take Keep holding on so long 'Cause there's a chance that we might not be so wrong We could be down and gone But we hold on How many times Do we wonder if it's even worth it Theres got to be some other way Way to get me through the day Keep going on till dawn How many times must another line be drawn We could be down and gone But we hold on

Lerxster Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup They slither while they pass, they slip away across the universe Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my open mind Possessing and caressing me Jai guru deva om Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes They call me on and on across the universe Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box They tumble blindly as they make their way Across the universe Jai guru deva om Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world Sounds of laughter shades of earth are ringing Through my open views inciting and inviting me Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns it calls me on and on Across the universe Jai guru deva om Nothing's gonna change my world Nothing's gonna change my world

joanneeeeee Posted March 14, 2008 Author Posted March 14, 2008 I've got my own moral compass to steer by A guiding star beats a spirit in the sky And all the preaching voices - Empty vessels ring so loud As they move among the crowd Fools and thieves are well disguised In the temple and market place Like a stone in the river Against the floods of spring I will quietly resist Like the willows in the wind Or the cliffs along the ocean I will quietly resist I don't have faith in faith I don't believe in belief You can call me faithless I still cling to hope And I believe in love And that's faith enough for me I've got my own spirit level for balance To tell if my choice is leaning up or down And all the shouting voices Try to throw me off my course Some by sermon, some by force Fools and thieves are dangerous In the temple and market place Like a forest bows to winter Beneath the deep white silence I will quietly resist Like a flower in the desert That only blooms at night I will quietly resist
Lerxster Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Like a million little doorways All the choices we made All the stages we passed through All the roles we played For so many different directions Our separate paths might have turned With every door that we opened Every bridge that we burned Somehow we find each other Through all that masquerade Somehow we found each other Somehow we have stayed In a state of grace I don't believe in destiny Or the guiding hand of fate I don't believe in forever Or love as a mystical state I don't believe in the stars or the plants Or angels watching from above But I believe there's a ghost of a chance We can find someone to love And make it last Like a million little crossroads Through the backstreets of youth Each time we turn a new corner A tiny moment of truth So many different connections Our separate paths might have made With every door that we opened Every game we played Somehow we find each other Through all that masquerade Somehow we found each other Somehow we have stayed In a state of grace

Lerxster Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Did I have a dream? Or did the dream have me? Set off on a night-sea journey Without memory or desire Drifting through lost latitudes With no compass and no chart Flying through hallucination Distant voices, signals fire Lighting up my unconscious And the secret places of the heart Dream - Temporary madness Dream - A voice in the wilderness Dream - Unconscious revelations The morning says, the answer is yes Floating through a darkened mirror Deep reflections in disguise Soaring through lost altitudes Without wonder, without fear Symbols on a field of visions Behind the curtain of sleeping eyes On the instant of waking Another world of dreams appears Dream - A walk in the wilderness Dream - Unconscious recreation The morning says, the answer is yes
joanneeeeee Posted March 18, 2008 Author Posted March 18, 2008 In a dog's life A year is really more like seven And all too soon a canine Will be chasing cars in doggie heaven It seems to me As we make our own few circles 'round the sun We get it backwards And our seven years go by like one Dog years -- It's the season of the itch Dog years -- With every scratch it reappears In the dog days People look to Sirius Dogs cry for the moon But these connections are mysterious It seems to me While it's true that every dog will have his day When all the bones are buried There is barely time to go outside and play Dog years -- It's the season of the itch Dog years -- With every scratch it reappears Dog years -- For every sad son of a bitch Dog years -- With his tail between his ears I'd rather be a tortoise from Galapagos Or a span of geological time Than be living in these dog years In a dog's brain A constant buzz of low-level static One sniff at the hydrant And the answer is automatic It seems to me As well make our own few circles 'round the block We've lost our senses For the higher-level static of talk
Lerxster Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 I can't get this great song out of my head today.. no problem though, i don't want it out. Both the music and lyrics rule! Anyone whos suffered a significant loss can identify with the "Have you lived a lifetime today -Or do you feel like you just got carried away?" line. Currently one of my favs on VT. Like the fly on the wheel, who says "What a lot of dust we're raising" Are you under the illusion That you're part of this scheme? Seems like a lifetime ago You could look with pride On your world of dreams What is the meaning of this? And the stars look down What are you trying to do? And the stars look down Was it something I said And the stars look down Like the rat in a maze who says, "Watch me choose my own direction" Are you under the illusion The path is winding your way? Are you surprised by confusion When it leads you astray? Have you lived a lifetime today - Or do you feel like you just got carried away? What is the meaning of this? And the stars look down What are you trying to do? And the stars look down Was it something I said? And the stars look down Something you'd like me to do? And the stars look down The stars look down

joanneeeeee Posted March 19, 2008 Author Posted March 19, 2008 A certain measure of innocence Willing to appear naive A certain degree of imagination A measure of make-believe A certain degree of surrender To the forces of light and heat A shot of satisfaction In a willingness to risk defeat Celebrate the moment As it turns into one more Another chance at victory Another chance to score The measure of the moment In a difference of degree Just one little victory A spirit breaking free One little victory The greatest act can be One little victory A certain measure of righteousness A certain amount of force A certain degree of determination Daring on a different course A certain amount of resistance To the forces of the light and love A certain measure of tolerance A willingness to rise above
joanneeeeee Posted March 19, 2008 Author Posted March 19, 2008 It went right by me, At the time it went over my head I was looking out the window I should have looked at your face instead It went right by me Just another wall There should have been a moment When we let our barriers fall I never meant what you're thinking... That's not what I meant at all. Well I guess we all have these feelings We can't leave unreconciled Some of them burned on our ceilings Some of them learned as a child The things that we're concealing Will never let us grow Time will do its healing You've got to let it go Closed for my protection Open to your scorn Between these two directions My heart is sometimes torn I lie awake with my secrets Spinning around my head Something that somehow escaped me Something you shouldn't have said I was looking out the window I should have looked at your face instead. Well I guess we all have these feelings We can't leave unreconciled Some of them burned on our ceilings Some of them learned as a child I find no absolution In my rational point of view Maybe some things are instinctive But there's one thing you could do You could try to understand me I could try to understand you. You could try to understand me I could try to understand you.
Lerxster Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 One shot all I need I've got rhythm when I bleed 'Til death do us part Break my heart so I can start Supercalifragilistic Kiss me in the futuristic Twisted but I must insist It's time to get on top of this It's right on time It's right on time It's right on time It's right on time it's right on time it's right on time it's right on time Lookin' fine you're lookin' fine get on 1999 It's right on time Discard to bombard Calling all you shooting stars Holy cow bow wow wow Now I'm here I'm nowhere now Joan of Arc reincarnated Maybe we could be related So much blood to circulate And so much space to decorate Plain and simple pain I want to but I can't complain Death row let us go It's time to blow up for the show All the world reverberated Coming through we motorcaded Vibrate when we operated Turning up in solid stated Oh Lord
TheRocinanteKid Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Hey you, out there in the cold Getting lonely, getting old Can you feel me? Hey you, standing in the aisles With itchy feet and fading smiles Can you feel me? Hey you, dont help them to bury the light Dont give in without a fight. Hey you, out there on your own Sitting naked by the phone Would you touch me? Hey you, with you ear against the wall Waiting for someone to call out Would you touch me? Hey you, would you help me to carry the stone? Open your heart, Im coming home. But it was only fantasy. The wall was too high, As you can see. No matter how he tried, He could not break free. And the worms ate into his brain. Hey you, standing in the road Always doing what youre told, Can you help me? Hey you, out there beyond the wall, Breaking bottles in the hall, Can you help me? Hey you, dont tell me theres no hope at all Together we stand, divided we fall.
asp324 Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Got some boys who were upset, They were headed out to India Point Two in the bucket backseat of the Pinto said You could lose your mind for all your mind is worth. One got up on a soapbox and proceeded to take his point Said, What god's are you to take this, And turn to blood 'Cause the revolutionaries on the rooftop Climb down to the cemeteries Where the missionaries line up For the mercy of the military's time Treat bodies like the bullet ridden clothes on a clothesline Puts the praise on the hunter in his own blind And it won't be the last time We use them eyes to see Them all hanging I believe I can make you whole See them all go back again And I dont think well ever know How it goes and why it runs down To the place we often bled 'Cause it's a manifest destiny Like a genocide recipe Telling the knowledge That rests in me to fear my own race Challenge your good Another thick of your callous Don't underestimate the fate of preordained malice Where are my boots And where the hell is my balance The hell, you did Come down from your palace To see us all Reaching up To see us all Reaching up 'Cause the revolutionaries on the rooftop Climb down to the cemeteries Where the missionaries line up For the mercy of the militarys time Treat bodies like the bullet ridden clothes on a clothesline 'Cause the praised hunter are during his own blind And it won't be the last time We use them eyes to see Them all hanging I believe I can make you whole See them all go back again And I dont think well ever know How it goes and why it runs down To the place Cause Im slowly turning in Dont you have to go? Dont you have to go? Dont you have to go, child? Dont you have to go? Take them to your cousins land Where sweet Madeleine has got his hand And she's asking the last man to fall Don't fall When I'm listening Holy water Go ask your friend And may your fever be gone When I'm listing Holy Llama Go ask your end And may your freedom be gone
Slacker Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Here I stand head in hand Turn my face to the wall If she's gone I can't go on Feeling two-foot small Everywhere people stare Each and every day I can see them laugh at me And I hear them say Hey you've got to hide your love away Hey you've got to hide your love away How can I even try I can never win Hearing them, seeing them In the state I'm in How could she say to me Love will find a way Gather round all you clowns Let me hear you say Hey you've got to hide your love away Hey you've got to hide your love away
Lerxster Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 It was a beautiful day, sun beat down I had the radio on, I was drivin' Trees went by, me and Del were singing Little Runaway, I was flyin' Running down a dream Never would come to me Working on a mystery Going wherever it leads Runnin' down a dream I felt so good, like anything as possible Hit the cruise control, rubbed my eyes The last three days, the rain was unstoppable I was always cold, no sunshine Yeah running down a dream That never would come to me Working on a mystery Going wherever it leads Runnin' down a dream As I rolled on, the sky grew dark I put the pedal down, to make some time There's somethin' good, waiting down this road I'm pickin' up whatever's mine
Lerxster Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 My uncle has a country place That no one knows about. He says it used to be a farm, Before the Motor Law. And on Sundays I elude the Eyes, And hop the Turbine Freight To far outside the Wire, Where my white-haired uncle waits. Jump to the ground As the Turbo slows to cross the Borderline. Run like the wind, As excitement shivers up and down my spine. Down in his barn, My uncle preserved for me an old machine, For fifty-odd years. To keep it as new has been his dearest dream. I strip away the old debris That hides a shining car. A brilliant red Barchetta From a better, vanished time. I fire up the willing engine, Responding with a roar. Tires spitting gravel, I commit my weekly crime... Wind- In my hair- Shifting and drifting- Mechanical music- Adrenalin surge... Well-weathered leather, Hot metal and oil, The scented country air. Sunlight on chrome, The blur of the landscape, Every nerve aware. Suddenly ahead of me, Across the mountainside, A gleaming alloy air-car Shoots towards me, two lanes wide. I spin around with shrieking tires, To run the deadly race, Go screaming through the valley As another joins the chase. Drive like the wind, Straining the limits of machine and man. Laughing out loud With fear and hope, I've got a desperate plan. At the one-lane bridge I leave the giants stranded at the riverside. Race back to the farm, to dream with my uncle at the fireside.
Lerxster Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Mamunia mamunia mamunia Oh oh oh Mamunia mamunia oh oh oh oh The rain comes falling from the sky, To fill the stream that fills the sea And that's where life began for you and me So the next time you see rain it ain't bad, Don't complain it rains for you, The next time you see L.A. rainclouds, Don't complain it rains for you and me Mamunia... It might have been a bright blue day But rainclouds had to come this way They're watering everything that they can see. A seed is waiting in the earth For rain to come and give him birth It's all he really needs to set him free, So the next time you see L.A. rainclouds Don't complain, it rains for you. So lay down your umbrellas Strip off your plastic macs. You've never felt the rain my friend, Til you've felt it running down your back So the next time you see rain, it ain't bad Don't complain, it rains for you. The next time U.C.L.A. rainclouds Don't complain it rains for you and me. Mamunia...
