Natch
QUOTE (Spike @ Sep 6 2007, 06:38 PM) I guess I don't have it THAT bad.... My husband doesn't like Rush. I've taken him to 1 concert, and I had a miserable time, because HE was having a miserable time. People ask me why I don't keep taking him until he learns to like it. I don't think he'll ever like my kind of music (he should hang out with Natch's wife - he likes the Shakira type of stuff!!!!). That being said, he DOES let me go to Rush concerts by myself. He knows that I'll strike up a conversation with any decent Rush fan - male or female (and even though us wimmen are well represented here on TRF, the majority of fans are still guys!). At Mohegan Sun on the last tour, he gambled, lost his money, and slept in the hotel lobby - while I was at the show. He was in the car waiting for me when the show got out. I called him and told him to get back into the casino. I dragged his butt out to the bar with 2 guys I had JUST MET at the show. He wasn't happy - but we had a great time with these guys, and we closed the bar down. The only complaint that my husband has is the money. He just doesn't like me spending so much money on tickets. Of course, he's out with his poker buddies (again) tonight. I bet if added up how much he lost on poker every year, it would be about the same as my Rush tickets every 3 years!!! Damn Spike....we have SO much in common. Your story sounds so much like mine. We'll swap stories at MSG, ok?
LakesideMaiden
QUOTE (Natch @ Sep 6 2007, 11:26 PM) QUOTE (LakesideMaiden @ Sep 6 2007, 10:22 PM) QUOTE (Natch @ Sep 6 2007, 11:17 PM) QUOTE (LakesideMaiden @ Sep 6 2007, 06:07 PM) reading thru all this is reminding me of my marriage....the one that I walked away from 2 years ago in April. He couldn't understand my love of the band, couldn't understand why I spent so much time on here, or why I cried my eyes out when he forbade me to buy tickets to the Fleet Center show on the VT tour when they announced it - my mom felt so bad that she bought my tickets for an early birthday present He and I had so many problems, and it was really going down the tubes at that point. The final straw was when I would call him and tell him that I was hanging out with some friends after work at GC (which would end me up at home around 12:00am or so) and he would freak out, texting me every 10 minutes asking when I was coming home. He didn't trust me, even though I was faithful to him the entire time we were together - 10 years. I've been really lucky to find Der Trommler...someone who shares my love of , is a musician like I am - understands that I will always love my guitar just a little bit more than him (as I understand that he will always love his drums just a little bit more than me) - understands and follows my religious beliefs, just connects with me SO well on so many different levels I wish you girls (and guy) all the luck in the world....hopefully your husbands or wives (or boyfriends, girlfriends) will see the light before it's too late and realize that they area actually pushing you away by being so suspicious of you, and not understanding that you are on a Forum dedicated to a band that you love, and have made lasting FRIENDSHIPS with the members - who think like you do damn LSM...you make it sound so...right. Ya know...yesterday was my 15th wedding anniversary. And, it was like any other day. We both know that we're finished. I think we're both waiting for the straw that breaks the camel's back. Don't let my marital issues convince you that something is beyond repair in your own, hon. My marriage was doomed at the start when my mom asked if I was sure about marrying him, and I replied, well, if not, there's always divorce. I knew it wasn't going to last.... Jeez...I don't know how to respond to that one... I can say this though, there is nothing that you're saying now that is going to influence the current state of my marriage. It's already in shambles. We both know it. I was out tonight with a friend, having a few beers. Just got home a little while ago. And she didn't even give me a hard time!! Now I know we're done! wow dude.. The only thing that fits the bill there are David Gilmour's guitar solos from "Comfortably Numb," the live version of "Echoes" from "Live in Pompeii," and various other songs. There's just something about his playing. Oh my god, I sooo agree with that That solo is what made me get into Pink Floyd in the first place. Talk about chill bumps..... Add "Marooned" to that list. Love it.

You know this is the first time I've actually LET myself listen to an edited for radio version of Light My Fire. I don't generally go for edited crap But this one was a good one specifically because that TV recording was right when they hit their prime. So awesome you are phasing through the Doors. Wow, I've never heard anyone describe that song as bringing them down. Personally I find the lyrics, the beat and the melody to be very primal. All Grrrr... take what you want and enjoy the kill. I find that whole, animalistic approach to sex very intriguing. That song always puts me in the mood.
