The Binary thread!

CISC is what I was talking about, Arnie...

We did a lot of machine automation in college for our final project, which was to build an automated process from scratch with hardware from home depot and a few motors, old computers and the electronic components we had learned about while in school.

We had to use 6 different types of electronic sensors, built by us, 2 types of motors, standard and stepping, and a computer with 8255 card to control it all with assembly language.

There where two teams and it was a race to finish the project, with 6 members per team.

I was team leader, in charge of conceptualizing the automatic process and assigning tasks to other team members to get it done within the 8 week period we had to do it in. I also did all the budgeting...we had to do it for less than $1000.

We built an automatic dry material blender with a computer controlled robotic drum removal system.

We not only won, but we all got A's on it.

I Guess me and Arndrake are geek brothers in a way... laugh.gif

47-64 are not on the table I used.

I think that some of 01101110 should have been 01101111 instead. And the 01101010 should have been 01101100.

I don't get the end part( * le) but I think I got the rest. wink.gif

I read a bit about CISC and RISC. smile.gif

I think that is too complex for me.

This was very interesting. yes.gif

Maybe I got some of the letters switched. But you can probably discern what it was supposed to say.

Good work. As you discovered, the message was in ASCII code. Because computers only work with numbers, there has to be a way to use and store letters and symbols in the computer. So ASCII was developed. In general, no math or logic operations are ever performed on ASCII data.

So what do you wanna learn next?
