terry brown

great things happened with him

afterwards not so much...........

I love every RUSH record up to "Counterparts."

"Hemispheres" will always be my favorite record until I die.

What if Terry Brown was brought in to produce the new KK's Priest album??

I'm in....

Hell, you know I am going to get the Japanese pressing with the bonus track.

There might be a few bonus tracks!

You might be right! Like what UFO did on the "Walk On Water" Japan release. Not only was there a Michael Schenker guitar pick inside but there were two bonus tracks. UFO covers.

So how about a few Priest covers as bonuses Pat?

correct hemispheres is king

i like to love post terry brown.

they finished strong with the last three. i am another vapor trails fan. over the snakes and clockwork

Hemispheres has always been locked in my top 5 RUSH albums for about 40 years and the rest of my top 5 have been locked in as well.

Nice Pat.

What Rush albums do you have ahead of "Hemispheres?"

Well the 5 albums kind of move up and down, it varies. Right now it's like this:

1. A Farewell to Kings

2. Hemispheres

3. 2112

4. Moving Pictures

5. Permanent Waves

Even though I've been listening to and thinking about and writing about Permanent Waves for about 40 years now, I still can't spell "Permanent", I have to spellcheck it every time. I don't get it, it's one of those words that I just can't get right! Am I evil?

Which Priest album do you think KK's Priest will be most like style-wise out of these 15 Priest albums? In fact rank them in order of most likely to sound like KK's Priest album.

1. Sad Wings of Destiny

2. Screaming For Vengeance

3. Jugulator

4. Firepower

5. Sin After Sin

6. British Steel

7. Point of Entry

8. Stained Class

9. Angel of Retribution

10. Turbo

11. Rocka Rolla

12. Defenders of the Faith

13. Redeemer of Souls

14. Killing Machine

15. Painkiller

I like the albums with:

Better songs

Heavier guitars

More organic, dynamic production values

No filler

Guitar solos

No layered backing vocals

No tupperware drums

I think I know what you're looking for. There's an album called Counterparts you should check out. ;-)

9/4's original post is pretty much my experience.

I don't think the musicianship flags at all later, but there's just a great sound to the earlier albums.

I'll go back to 1993 then and listen to it for the first time all over again. Now where's H.G. Wells with my Time Machine?
