"Best" is pretty subjective of a term in this case. Most of the people in that list wouldn't have been as big as they are without being surrounded by other top-notch talents. Elton John couldn't make it without Bernie Taupin's pen.

 

And really, who gives two rats asses? Of all the years I've listened to The Who, this is the first time I've read things about Pete Townsend being gay. So what, the guy got a rush when he saw Mick Jagger go into spastic fits on stage. David Bowie probably did too. Sexuality is not related to talent in any way, shape, or form.
