Fellow TRF Family, It's been a few minutes since I posted here, but felt an update was necessary. OG Members remember DonnaWanna but I'm not sure if she was active in recent years. Back in March Donna went in to the hospital with heart troubles, high potassium levels and they admitted her to run tests and try to figure out what was going on. Her Facebook friends were able to follow along with her updates. Cheer her on with her recovery, cheer her up with her set backs. A couple of weeks ago she posted about not having any fight left. Being ready to go. Being ready to be reunited with her father, and Indica, (when you know) and her sister. But she came back from the depths with new hope, and a procedure was planned to try to find out why her heart was failing her. Then last week she took a real turn, and was put into hospice care. Last night she passed on. Her BFF Kimberly and I were in contact regarding her hospice care. There are no details from the family regarding her services. I never had the opportunity to meet Donna in person, but we were sisters none the less. For those of you that did meet her, I'm sure you have wonderful stories to share. Light a candle, send good energy out into the world in her honour. Know that she was one of the good ones. She leaves behind a lot of people that love her. DonnaWanna, you will be missed. Rest in eternal peace, my sweet friend. </3
Finally, a thread where namedropping is a good thing! So... My uncle left today for California to visit my great uncle, Stan Anderson. Cousin Stan is a character actor that's been working in the Business since 1967. He's one of those guys that you can't name, but might go "Ohhhh..." when you see him. This got me thinking about connections that TRFers might have with the (not so) Rich & Famous. Have at it. I'll start. Here's Stan as Judge Vandalay on Seinfeld... http://i.ytimg.com/vi/hmUX2bKruqM/maxresdefault.jpg Stan as General Slocum in Spiderman... http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BMTcxMTU5NTc4NF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNDUzMzI2Mw@@._V1_SX640_SY720_.jpg Stan as the President in Armageddon... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBEtmUdQRWE
So I had this thought a while back and reoccurred to me earlier today. If you met someone who had never heard Rush before, but wanted to know more about them and hear them, how would you introduce them to the greatness that is rush, and preferably with what album or song? And don't forget to tell why! Me, I would play 2112 (the whole album) for him or her. For me 2112 may not represent all that Rush has to offer, but it's a great start and much more accessible than the unsuspecting first time listener would assume. And if they don't like the title track, there's always side two!
