QUOTE (snowdog2112 @ May 11 2012, 08:33 AM) Either the changes to the first 2 songs are more subtle than the others have said or this person doesn't have very good ears. All he basically says is we've already heard these. Not even a reference to the added strings or remix or even the new intro to BU2B. I also can't understand comments like "There was some criticism that this song was very different from the other two previously released and that the album would miss the common thread that so many times coloured landmark albums such as 2112." both because I haven't heard anyone say that HF sounds like it doesn't belong with the other 2 and even more than that 2112 has songs that sound nothing like each other anyway. Oh well, still another positive piece. Thanks for posting! I kinda felt like this review was all over the place, pretty much a throwaway... LIKE ALL REVIEWS I'm with goobs. Lemme hear it, and I will decide for myself. Odds are I will like it though.

QUOTE (invisible airwave @ May 10 2012, 02:23 PM) "You framed an Asia poster? How hard did the people at the frame store laugh when you brought this in?" Is it true that if you don't use it... you lose it?

QUOTE (ILSnwdog @ May 10 2012, 12:20 PM) I voted for Letterman, although, I don't think he's nearly as funny as he used to be. I remember back when he was on NBC...damn that was some good TV. Craig Ferguson is a close second. I probably could have voted for him, but I get all nostalgic, and can't vote against Letterman. Yeah, Letterman used to be fun, with throwing shit off the roof and all the different "suits" (like velcro, etc) He has been dead to me for years, I just think he is a grumpy old man now.

QUOTE (workingcinderellaman @ May 10 2012, 09:44 AM) QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ May 10 2012, 09:23 AM) I loved Johnny Carson, and eventually made my way into being a big fan of Letterman. For the last few years, Conan has dominated for me. His off the wall idiocy really makes a great end to my day. I like Conan as well but my wife for some reason can't stand him. So I watch him with my son. That....... is....... AWESOME! Same thing in our house. My son and I always laugh our ass off at him, and my wife will come in the room after getting ready and make a face when she sees Conan on. Some things she finds funny - like the stupid mascots trying to dunk, or the Audiencey Awards Best Conan bit ever, IMO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Aax2V7a3S4

QUOTE (EveryNerveAware @ May 8 2012, 11:21 AM) QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ May 8 2012, 08:59 AM) Anyone watch this show? **SPOILERS Follow** if anyone cares I thought it was a disgrace that Penny made the final, she is a despicable self promoter, and thinks way more highly of herself than she has a right to. She was going on about how she beat Michael Symon in the first round, but only because he left an item off the plate. I think it was likely going to be here if he wouldn't have made that mistake. The winner - Marcus - I would love to try some of his food someday. I watch it all the time. I didn't like her either. I think the best guy won. I agree. My prediction before it all started was that it was going to come down to Symon and him.... I cannot stand Anne Burrel as a TV personality, but man, she sure knows how to cook. I have made some of her recipes... both her and Alex G.... and have never been disappointed.

QUOTE (Alex @ May 8 2012, 08:45 AM) QUOTE (hughes&kettner @ May 7 2012, 06:57 PM) QUOTE (ReRushed @ May 7 2012, 03:26 PM) I loved it. Top flight entertainment. And it's funny. But, I didn't walk out of the theater thinking it was the greatest superhero movie of all-time. It's certainly up there, though. Again, I LOVED it. not sure you can name a better superhero movie broseph... that was better than supermanII, the dark knight, ANY of the 90's batmans...and either iron man. not sure what you think is better than hulk being hulk, and thor, iron man and cpt america kicking loki's ass... plus scarlett is beyond hot in this movie. The Nolan Batmans I find are the best superhero movies out right now. I agree that they are superb, but it's hard to compare. The Batman movies are way more serious and dark. Hard to compare to Avengers simply due to the difference in presentation. Avengers is a light action movie with lots of humor, bright colors... I think it's like comparing apples to oranges, but I thoroughly enjoy both.

There is a golf league here at the office, and I missed the signup date, so it was full by the time I asked about it. I am a sub, and got to play last week. I ended up playing with a woman who just started. Couldn't hit the ball more that 60 yds or so at a time. I was giving her little tips and stuff, and she actually was doing much better by the end of the round. I know what I need to do, but consistently doing it is the hard part. Giving her tips made me concentrate on what I was doing more, and I had my best 9 of the year. I hit 6 of the 9 greens in regulation. 7 pars, 1 bogey, one double.... finished with a 38. My highlight was one of the pars I got. It was a 320 straightaway par 4. I put my drive just off the right fringe. It was perfectly pin high, just off to the right about 20 yds. Chip, 2 putts I could not putt to save my life. I had 7 friggin birdie putts, and didn't hit a single one.

MusicRadar: Clockwork Angels full album review

QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ May 7 2012, 11:52 AM) I read reviews not to determine the quality, but to get the song descriptives: tone, atmosphere, tempo, instrumentations, etc. The quality is for me to decide, but now I have a sense of how each song is mapped out and that's good enough for me. I completely agree. 100 people can tell me something is great, but it isn't to me until I decide it is. Like the movie Avatar - so many people loved it, I could sit thru it, but I basically hated the movie. -
The more I think about it, the more I really think the well placed humor made this movie. Yeah, there was action and everything you'd expect, but the humor, and especially the placement and delivery of the humor, absolutely made the movie for me. I would say Stark had the majority of it, but the rest of the cast each had a funny moment or two. So many times action movies force humor into movies and it feels out of place. A subtle $10 exchange was laden with humor, even the "so that's what it does" line was funny, and not at all corny.

QUOTE (The Mighty Dudad @ May 7 2012, 08:48 AM) 2. Unless I missread, I didn't see any instrumentals. Didn't every song review include some mention of Geddy's vocals? Not a bad thing, IMO...sounds like there are plenty of instrumental fireworks going on within the structure of the songs. First thing I noticed after completing my read of the review. -
QUOTE (Storm Shadow @ May 5 2012, 03:53 AM) The wife, kid, and I all played hooky to go see this yesterday because we're all big Marvel nerds. Movie is f'n awesome! Didn't disappoint at all. It's gonna be huge. We saw the 12pm showing and the place was packed, with people cheering during certain scenes...like Hulk with the greatest sucker punch ever! I don't know the last time I've seen that kind of crowd reaction during a matinee, so I can imagine what the later showings are like. Everyone seemed to love it. We loved it, and the sucker punch was one of my favorite light moments. Not a huge Marvel nerd, so the closing credits clip was lost on me, but looked it up and understand the crowd's reaction.
