QUOTE (SchemingDemon @ Jun 11 2012, 02:38 AM) QUOTE (Kelly D @ Jun 10 2012, 07:44 PM) QUOTE (beherit @ Jun 10 2012, 05:47 PM) They could play anything and I'd be happy, but The Weapon would be a real treat. With the Count Floyd intro?!?! Yes! But only if they do the concert in 3D! Now THAT would be cool!
  2. QUOTE (LeaveMyThingAlone @ Jun 10 2012, 09:53 PM) So not only is Geddy going nuts on Bass, but he is definitely hitting some high notes I haven't heard him hit in a while. I don't know how the man does it every tour, but seems with this tour in particular, he's gonna wipe himself out with the vocals on top of everything else he handles Neil and Alex always do their thing and play incredibly, but it always amazes me watching Geddy handle everything. Dude is without a doubt one of the most talented musicians in the history of rock and roll. "How can Geddy still hit those high notes?" "Voice of an angel" "I swear to God he must drink a lot of tea-" "Totes" "Or at least hot water with lemon. . ."
  3. QUOTE (danielmclark @ Jun 10 2012, 08:55 PM) I love VT, and I won't even qualify it with a "besides the awful production" or some such thing. I don't have a problem with the production at all. Same. I just want two versions because I love it so damn much
  4. QUOTE (beherit @ Jun 10 2012, 05:47 PM) They could play anything and I'd be happy, but The Weapon would be a real treat. With the Count Floyd intro?!?!
  5. QUOTE (third hand grace @ Jun 10 2012, 04:42 PM) I have a cleaned up version of VT, and I think the muddiness of the Rush version is why so many dislike it. Strip away the NOISE and its an impressive body of work, IMO. When when WHEN are they going to remix it?!?! Rich Chycki where are youuuuu?!
  6. QUOTE (BU4B @ Jun 10 2012, 04:02 PM) An unexpected side effect for me. I just couldn't dig VP no matter how hard I tried. But felt that clockwork angels reminded me of it and maybe how VP should have been in someways. So decided to give VP a spin for comparison and have discovered I actually like it now. Good old some sorta reverse Psychology going on ha ha. Huzzah!
  7. QUOTE (Bangster of Goats @ Jun 10 2012, 07:39 PM) I'm in the "2112 cannot be denied its historical significance but CA is definitely a better overall work" camp. I was never a HUUUUUUUGGGGEEEE fan of 2112. In my 30 years of being a Rush fanboy it was always one of my less-played Rush LPs/CDs. Dare I say it, but I always thought the story of 2112 was a little... corny. I dunno, too much Rock 'N' Rule or Heavy Metal or other 70s-ish sci-fi-rock-n-roll-fantasy stuff or whatever for my tastes. But on a semi-other-hand, I think the story of Hemispheres is a little daft as well, but it's 18 minutes of some of my very favorite Rush music, story aside. I always thought Hemispheres (both the suite and the album) was superior to 2112 (both the suite and the album). But I will say this: listening to Hemispheres or 2112 for the first time didn't evoke the strong emotional reactions that I had listening to CA for the first time. CA is a top-fiver for me. My desert island list of 5 Rush albums would be Moving Pictures, Permanent Waves, Signals (all because I just think those albums are just plain freaking awesome), Presto (strong personal emotional attachment more than freaking awesome), and Clockwork Angels (back to just plain freaking awesome after several albums of "hey, this album's pretty cool... BUT..."). I was driving with a very good friend/fellow Rushian-Rat-whatever a few weeks ago and we put on "Hemispheres" and I said something to the effect of "Gawd if this isn't the most pretentious piece of music ever! . . . Not to say I don't love it with all my heart!"
  8. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Jun 9 2012, 11:54 PM) It was a reference to Kelly's "tie the room together" - it's the dude dancing on the rug that tied the room together. Man, it's not funny when you have to explain it. I'd still like to see this image but if you look up in the comments you'll see it never showed up in the first place! Technology!

So many more layers and the only proper word that I can think of is "sprightly" Edit: And of course it's great to hear with all of the new songs to go along with them and "tie the room together" if you will. . . http://cityrag.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/where-the-hell-are-we.jpg ??? It's probably a picture of him dressed as Captain Beatty from Fahrenheit 451, burning a pile of Vapor Trails CDs. Goobs is obsessed with the works of Ray Bradbury. I think Ray's death has sent him over the edge! Pourin' one out for Mr. B Obviously you guys have never seen The Big Lebowski. Oh well... Actually goobs, my comment was that the image never showed up! And for the record, the Big Lebowski is one of my favorite movies of all time
  10. QUOTE (presto123 @ Jun 10 2012, 05:44 AM) CA is way better than 2112. All it takes is more spins and more familiarity. 2112 was an important record in the bands history for sure but it has weaknesses. CA has few weaknesses once you give it a chance to sink in. I never would have believed it. This record just gets better and better the more you spin it. Agreed. There are no clunkers on this record ("Wish Them Well" isn't grabbing me like all the others, but that's okay. *pats it on the head*) There aren't any goofy tracks like "The Twilight Zone" or maudlin Geddy-penned tracks like "Tears." So. . . while the beast of "2112" the song cannot be denied its longevity and badassery, Clockwork Angels the album, in my opinion, is much better than 2112 the album.
  11. QUOTE (losingit2k @ Jun 9 2012, 11:44 PM) This album is way above everything they've done since Moving Pictures! Its Rocks, It jams, Its Epic and it keep getting better with ever listen. Its like climbing Everest! Caravan and BU2B were just Base Camp, Headlong Flight got us trekking towards the summit. Every other song is just another step skyward! Just when you think you've reach the summit the skies clear and your reach another plateau of appreciation. We are so high on this album we can actually feel the Halo Effect! Bring on the Tour! TOO TRUE! Even my hater friend (Player Hater of the Year) who likes to tell me he thinks Rush died in a plane crash after P/G was made, believes that what little he's heard of CA (up through "The Anarchist" in the track listing and "Headlong Flight") blows anything he's heard since 1984 out of the water.

Ehh.. not so sure about that Knowing their sense of humor i'm positive they made as bad of a video as they could just for a laugh. If they really wanted to they could've made a video that matched the greatness of the song. They just wanted to mess with everybody. I hope you're right, because that video is so bad I laugh every single time at how stupid and cheesy it is It's really a shame because it's my favorite Rush song

I think they were proud of their "twirly object" technology and wanted to show it off. No trolling here. The late 80s. . . *cringe*
  14. QUOTE (SchemingDemon @ Jun 10 2012, 08:22 AM) It's kind of annoying. Reminds me of a tye-dyed softball shirt I had to wear in the third grade. Love it!
  15. QUOTE (micgtr71 @ Jun 10 2012, 07:49 AM) You know, in the era of cds and even smaller digital downloads, the art of the album cover is gone. If you had to look at the PoW or PeW cover for the first time on your ipod screen, a lot would be lost. I do wish that it were different, but that's the way it is... Interesting theory!

QUOTE (Barchetta82 @ Jun 10 2012, 03:37 AM) QUOTE (Kelly D @ Jun 9 2012, 05:22 PM) "The lenses inside of me that paint the woooorld black. . ." "The booze of boys in the scarlet mist that's billowed into rage..." I agree - the lyrics on this gem are superb. Neil has really nailed it on this one!! Now that's some clever interpretation!
  17. QUOTE (SchemingDemon @ Jun 9 2012, 09:25 PM) We don't really need to hear Witch Hunt again, but I'd be very happy with The Weapon and The Enemy Within. I wouldn't be disappointed if they played Freeze though

Let the fray began, in a sense A Farewell to Kings would never sully itself! And now back to the Randall Bailey interview at the Manadalay Bay! Jesters need love too. . .
