  1. PremierGuitar Magazine had an article on this awhile back: Those Daring Young Men and Their Doubleneck Guitars: A Brief History of Multi-Neck Players Eric Johnson posed with a Gibson double neck on the cover of GuitarOne magazine here. In the PremierGuitar interview with Alex Lifeson here, he gave his Gibson EDS-1275 to Eric Johnson as a gift but was later stolen by a roadie.
  2. This is the guitar tech from an old article. Scott Appleton: Guitar Tech for Def Leppard
  3. There is a documentary that came out last year about the history of the 1964 - 1974 Niagara rock music scene called 'The Big Story Of Small Potatoes'. The film makes reference to several bands that Neil played in which includes JR Flood - which has their song 'Giant Killer' (which Neil played on) that is included on the soundtrack. This is confirmed by director Paul Miil. While it's not the entire song, it is enough to get an idea of what their sound was like. Neil was not interviewed for the documentary. Paul Miil commented on Rushisaband that Sam Dunn and Scot McFadyen approached him for some Neil related footage from way back then.
  4. Here are a couple of video clips from Brazil's TV UOL from the Sao Paulo show on October 8, 2010. I found these and posted them on Rushisaband.com Concert Highlights: The Spirit of Radio Time Stand Still Interview and News Pieces: Alex and Geddy Interview Snippet Rush News Piece about Brazil Concerts In English translation Rush fans who wish to join the band's two shows in Brazil will have to cough up 500 dollars.
  5. I think Alex's guitar tech Scott Appleton is doing the best he can with keeping Alex's rig working. It isn't an easy job to do. If you could see what is involved in the YouTube clips below, I would not want to do it. Scott Appleton - Performing Musician Article
  6. From the San Francisco Chronicle - Sept 2002 Geddy Lee / Rush front man wants to put time on hold Q: What about your voice -- do you have to do anything weird before you go on tour? A: I just try to maintain a fairly strict diet. I have to avoid certain foods, certain spices that negatively impact my ability to stay clear-throated on the road. Q: What kinds of foods? A: Dairy products. Spices. I also try to avoid highly acidic foods like vinegars and white wines. I won't give up red wines. I can give up white wine, although it's painful for me, but I can justify it by knowing when the tour is over I can go back to my bad habits. Q: So during the rest of the year you don't sound anything like Geddy Lee? A: No. I sound like a guy who doesn't take care of his voice. I go to France every year, and you can't go there without eating cheese and drinking white wine. You just can't do it. It's not possible. Q: You need to make a record like that. Do you think that would sound like Shakira? A: Somehow or another I'm sure my voice will cut through all that mucous.
  7. The last time Alex's guitar gave out during 'Far Cry' after the pyro went off, was on the last date of the 2007 leg of the Snakes & Arrows Tour on October 29, 2007 in Helsinki. The differences between this one and the current is that the rhythm overdubs kept the guitar part going and that it was the amps and not the wireless system that was the problem.
  8. It appears that Neil is still wearing the headphones.
  9. It is a shame these days that concert etiquette has fallen by the wayside. If an individual is assigned a seat to go see a movie, that is where they go. A concert should not be any different. A concert is supposed to be of equality and democracy - not one trying to be more popular than the others. A good book that should be read by everyone is 'How to Win Friends and Influence People'. Some recognizable shtick tends to get old overtime. Regardless if someone is a long time fan or not should not be given any special treatment. What you buy is what you get. If I saw a fan from the stage doing anything that was disrespectful to other fans, they would be exited from the building. That is not normal behavior. This is not directed to any particular person, but general etiquette.
  10. QUOTE (third hand grace @ Aug 4 2010, 03:47 PM) my buddy said that supposedly the reschduled date is not even up at Rush.com. Haven't been there yet but if that's true, thats pretty weak. Your friend did not look hard enough apparently: Read the following from Rush.com: The postponed Wednesday, July 7 performance at Charter One Pavilion has been rescheduled to MONDAY, AUGUST 23.
  11. Except on the Vapor Trails Tour - they alternated a few songs.
  12. I don't see other fans going to this length who were also at the Chicago show to sue the band. They realize that if they still have their tickets that they can still go to the one that is rescheduled. Even if you do win - you may lose respect from the other fans out there who really think that this is a waste of time. This is the unfortunate thing with Americans is that they will sue for just about anything.
  13. I agree that this thread has gone on too long. However Chris should have had faith in the fact that the band would reschedule a date to make up for the weather mishap. Things happen. No one has control over Mother Nature.
  14. This is a companion piece to Alex's interview on the Hughes and Kettner YouTube channel:
  15. I believe the use of a camera at Rush concerts is 'grim-faced and forbidding'. I think that if fans considered taking a camera to a Rush concert, they need to have a re-listen to 'Limelight' and 'The Camera Eye'. I think the lyrics sumarize just how the guys must feel about camera's at concerts. I am sure that when Rush perform 'The Camera Eye' this upcoming tour, that I bet fans will be digging out their camera phones and aiming the eye at the band and snapping photos and capturing snippets of video. No pun intended.
  16. Rush are now naming songs like Prince, Van Halen and Cream: Cream - 'NSU' and 'SWLABR' Van Halen - '5150' (album title) 'OU812' (album title) and "A.F.U. (Naturally Wired)" song. Prince - 'F.U.N.K.', 'S.S.T'
  17. QUOTE (30kwpa @ Apr 17 2010, 07:24 AM) I think it's a great idea. It is a Max Webster song but it would have never got the airplay (if any) had it not been for RUSH. I remember hearing it for the first time on Atlanta radio. Sure had a lot of folks clamoring... new record already, break-up, etc. I see nothing wrong with it for one night. Hell, why not bring out Bob and Doug for a quick bit and then do Take Off. Neil could be showered and on his motorbike before Geddy cracked open his first Molson. I doubt Geddy could hit those notes like he did back then, but why not give those fans something fun, something special? Ten bucks is ten bucks, eh? Take Off Hosers. Thank you. It is good to see someone on here figures this out. Regardless if its a Rush song or not, the fact is Geddy sings on it. Both Max Webster and Rush were in the studio together recording the song. The above reasons I give is why Rush should do the song live.
  18. QUOTE (Syrinx @ Apr 16 2010, 08:01 AM) Kim Mitchell has jealousy issues!? Where did that come from?? Kim interviewed Alex and Geddy for Q107, before the last tour. I was there and it was like old friends getting together. During the commercial breaks they were huddled together, laughing. I listen to Kim a lot on the radio and he has always seemed very respectful of Rush to me. Maybe he was joking around one time and it didn't come across to you as a joke, or something. Rush and Kim Mitchell at Q107
  19. QUOTE (tangy @ Apr 15 2010, 12:08 PM) wow, such a great song. its my recollection that all 3 members of rush played on that tune. Sounds like an outtake from PW or MP. It isn't an outtake. The song is on the album Universal Juveniles by Max Webster, which was the band's last album before they split up.
  20. It seems odd seeing '2112', 'Finding My Way' and 'In The Mood' mixed with the 80's material on the Grace Under Pressure concert video.
