  1. At first I was like, they are only doing MP? Then I realized its only 7 songs and they normally do a 3 hour show (didnt have my morning caffeine yet). So I am sure they will do all of MP in order one after another, then do alot of other oldies (and maybe some new stuff!). I think that the people that are getting po'd about MP in its entirety and the "marketing move" should chill out. They would play alot of MP no matter what tour anyway, at least they are touring (and writing!).
  2. I was trying to form one here in PA about this time last year. I came across a guitarist that is a fanatic too, and I was thinking about asking my current drummer (who loves Rush) to handle the skins. It didnt go anywhere mostly because of a singer. To me, thats the hardest part of trying to be a Rush tribute, the vocals. If you try to sound like Geddy, it just makes me wince. I am in a classic rock cover band now and we do 2 Rush songs, and my guitarist handles the vocals. He isnt trying to sound just like Geddy but he does sing up high, and it actually works pretty well. I would love to start one up and if I leave this band at any point, I am going to try to really get one going.
  3. I designed a buddies Rush tattoo. It turned out great too (no pics of his arm to show, but I might be able to dig up the original art) Basically, it was a hodgepodge of a few different things: the bunny in the presto hat along with dice spelling out RUSH (and it was years ago so I dont remember what else)
  4. I saw them years and years ago at a small local club long before they were famous and they definitely had a different sound back then. I like alot of their stuff, even some of the newer stuff, but they definitely found a "formula" that works/sells and are going with that.
  5. I wrote a response about this in a bass guitar forum recently and the topic was about meeting musicians and how sometimes they are not what you thought they would be... I am a shy person until I get to know someone. As I get older I have become less shy, but still that by nature. I have played bass in bands for 21 years now. In addition, I was heavily into sports and art (now my profession) all growing up. Through obsessive hard work, I was able to get to a proficient level at all 3. Ive had my fair share of butt-kissing tossed my way because of it and I can tell you, it gets old after a while. And, I dont know what it is, but I am not good at receiving compliments. Its nice, but usually puts me at a loss for words. I am sure people have viewed me as aloof or grumpy after talking to me when I am really on the shy and private side. Cant tell you how many people have come up to me after playing a set of music and kissed my butt...now magnify that by 100000 and I couldnt imagine how Neil feels. Just because you are famous doesnt mean you arent human (nor does it mean that you need to be a completely different person than you normally are)
