QUOTE (danielmclark @ Jul 18 2010, 08:49 PM) QUOTE (losingit2k @ Jul 18 2010, 07:40 PM) I only wish Chris Farley was still alive to interview them! R.I.P. Hey, do you remember the time when you guys played in Rio, and you played Closer to the Heart? That was awesome.
  4. I'm not up to speed on european connectors like Scart but a few minutes of investigation shows me that the connection is only standard definition. Component video allows HD quality video from the recorder, however that machine does not ouput HD or even close. I think it's just interlaced video, no progressive scan The big issue is the native reslotion of what you're recording. If you're recording onto DVD from standard def TV it's gonna look like ass on your HDTV. What are you recording? Or are you just using this machine as a DVD player? If it's just a DVD player, scrap this hunk o' junk and go BluRay!
  5. That's awesome! I used to work for a high end shop and sold Mac (that's what we called it before those guys at Apple stole the name) and it is awesome stuff. Might want to call Macintosh and speak to their techs about some service on those speakers, The surrounds mught need some work. I didn't see this thread when i posted my own audiophile thread a couple days ago. I owned my own shop for almost 10 years and recently closed it due to the economy. I actually nuilt my rig over the years and has had many different stages so to speak. For those of you thinking it's not a big deal, find a local shop and listen. You'll hear things you've never heard before in music you've listened to for years.

    Final Album?

I said before it was anounced they may tour again next year that I thought this might be end of it for them. The sad thing is I got that feeling even more after watching the BTLS doc. I honestly see them going their seperate ways and just 'meh', i don't need to do this anymore. I think they're getting tired of each other. They're all pushing close to 60 and although they could go on more, why? They have plenty of cash I'm sure. I can't see the NEED to perform or record. At 60 I'd be tired of the touring. I see them doing the Caravan tour, a one to two year break and then maybe one last tour of a bunch of Hard Rocks or something. Depends on Caravan's success though. I mean if Caravan (the album) actually got some airplay, it is a great song, I think they might get bouyed by that and possibly try one more record. These guys really are one of a kind and I don't see them doing the "farewell tour" gig. They'll jsut announce they've thrown in the towell. I will cry that day.

Not pretty! http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q224/briremo/briangoinfishin.jpg Is that a bottle of Pepto?.... IDK WTF it is! But that was about 7:00AM after a hard night of drinkin' at a club that featured "Big Dick and the Extenders". Fun as hell. Dick is a big Indian and he sang mostly southern rock tunes and told the funniest friggin jokes! We fished till 5 that day here's the big one... http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q224/briremo/brianscuda.jpg

  12. QUOTE (marblesmike @ Jul 18 2010, 02:35 PM) I never saw that pic as being of Alex in pain. He's been making those faces during guitar solos for years. It's like he's really into it, and as a musician myself, many of us have our trademark facial expressions when in the groove. Either that, or he's pinching a big loaf :-D yeah, the point was his hands show no signs of discoloration, not whether or not he's in pain! He's just gettin into it!

    if you could ask

Alex, we're all really upset you never beat the crap out of Geddy during his keyboard phase. Why didn't take a friggin sledghammer to his keyboards? Neil, before we get started, I want to present you with this WWJD bracelet. Hey wait! Geddy, you must be a black belt or something right? How else did you stop Alex from trashing your keyboards? Seriously though, Are you a control freak that demands attention? Isn't it enough already you're the singer?

    Rush on SNL

I too was watching SNL last night and thinking the same thing. Look if a guy like Frank Zappa can do SNL, which he did, then RUSH should be able to do it. Zappa was also a no compromise, 'don't "F" with my music' niche musician. And he was really good on the show. He was in the sketches and played as well I can tell you this, a TON of RUSHies that don't normally watch SNL would be tuning in for that one!
  17. QUOTE (liddybuck01 @ Jul 18 2010, 11:28 AM) To add to this... Did they ever actually air the classic albums episode of them??? It kept saying it was going to be on but never was! Well, i never caught it, and i tried to dvr it 3 times! I heard the release date was changed to sometime in September.
  18. QUOTE (randyferron @ Jul 18 2010, 11:04 AM) QUOTE (Mara @ Jul 16 2010, 08:54 PM) I believe he has psoriasis or something similar that flares up from time to time and affects his hands. Maybe why always wears long sleeves? I thought about that, after seeing him time after time in long sleeves, but he is short sleeves in many of his recent shots. I looked up psoriasis on wiki and to my surprise it is not always accompanied with skin discoloration, so maybe its not an issue with him. It does cause discomfort though. See my pic below.
  19. QUOTE (danielmclark @ Jul 17 2010, 02:09 PM) QUOTE (briremo @ Jul 17 2010, 12:38 PM) nothing short of spectacular! Best Film I've seen in years, YEARS! The director toys with us, thrills us and literrlly leaves us breathless. There were several points in the film where you could hear the whole audience reminding themselves to breathe. The score was emothional and bombastic, reminding you that 'you aint seen nothing like it'. Staggering images and scenes that portray more than story line. You will have to see it again! The last 20 seconds of film are well,,,you gotta see it. Literally leaves you breathless? Like what, they suck all the air out of the theater so you can't breathe? Literally? Damn, that doesn't sound like a good time, to me. Some of the scenes are so intense that you forget to breathe. I'm serious, everyone sitting around me did the same exact thing after one of these long tense scenes. You could hear everyone sucking in a big breath at the same time and then go "whew!" Superior film making. At its highest art form. And the end of the film...Chris Nolan just pokes you in the eye to let you know he's been in total control of you! Awesome.

  21. It appears all the WPB tickets are gone in reserved seating, except for what the scalpers are holding that may be released later. Lawn seats still available. I'm happy all the griping and pissing and moaning has disappeared. This looks to be a killer show.

  23. Yeah, bring the camera. Just go early enough so if they don't let you in with it you can run it back to the car.
  24. I just ordered this. Amazingly Ive never really been aware of this recording and what it was. I was on this tour stop in WPB with my good buddy Mark LeClair. We sprang for the big dollar scalper seats for 4th row seat in front of Alex. Cost? $80 more than double face value. Harf to beleive. I can't wait to hear it cause I remember this as being on of the best shows I've ever been to. And boy howdy, Ive seen a bunch. Thanks for bringing this up!
