  1. My town is home to the Augusta National and the Masters golf tournament, as well as the birthplace of the Godfather of Soul, James Brown. Oh, and for those of you who like jazz/fusion, the Dixie Dregs trace their origins to Augusta.
  2. I've had the first two downloaded for a long long long time, but I wanted to pick up the physical copies without spending $15-$20 a piece... and wow, FYE actually came through for once. Box Car Racer - Box Car Racer The Decemberists - The King is Dead The Decemberists - Long Live the King
  3. QUOTE (toscanobarga @ Jun 12 2012, 08:10 PM)Saw them live for the first time on their last US tour. Meh. Great music. Pretty lights. Zero stage presence. Queen without the charisma. As much as I loved seeing them two years ago, I have to agree. Dom was the only one who spoke to the crowd at all, and he didn't even say that much. Maybe they're more friendly at home in the UK...? That, or they wanted to get the hell out of Atlanta as soon as possible
  4. QUOTE (Steevo @ Jun 7 2012, 04:14 AM)QUOTE (Xanadu93 @ Jun 4 2012, 02:49 PM)Ramones - Leave Home Do you have Brain Drain yet? Not yet. And , long time no see
  5. I'm visiting my aunt in Jacksonville, Florida and their FYE is huge... not the biggest one I've visited, but the second largest. As a result, many albums have been acquired. Not sure how much more music I'll buy on this trip, but my wallet's getting kinda thin, so I'll probably have to slow down a bit. Angels & Airwaves - LOVE (Deluxe Edition) Coldplay - Every Teardrop is a Waterfall CD single Garbage - Not Your Kind of People Ramones - Leave Home +44 - When Your Heart Stops Beating Oh, and heh, this is the 3000th post in this thread.
  6. QUOTE (jesse2112 @ May 13 2012, 11:59 PM) Who cares what they play its ! I have never walked away from a Rush show thinking that the set sucked. And I've never had a bad time at a Rush show Apparently you weren't at the one where they played Tai Shan 30 times in a row.
  7. Hearing Rush's "Xanadu" at the age of 4 practically made my musical tastes what they are, otherwise I would have been raised on pop radio. Hearing "Dead!" by My Chemical Romance at the age of 14 showed me that there was new music out there worth checking out, without it I'd be stuck in the 1970s.
  8. QUOTE (Tarkus406 @ May 9 2012, 08:40 PM)This thread won't go away any time soon I take it... A grown man who listens to nothing but old-timey music is worried about a bunch of grown men watching ponies? http://dl.dropbox.com/u/42912553/rarity%20pony%2C%20you%20can%27t%20be%20serious.jpg

  10. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Apr 13 2012, 11:47 PM)Anything by Lynryrd Skynyrd. They were my first favorite band and they got me into music. I remember riding around with my dad when I was younger, and he'd have Skynyrd playing a lot, especially One More from the Road, so that record in particular resonates with me.
  11. Morrissey and The Smiths. Most fans of today's pop-punk/emo bands don't even realize that their favorite bands would cite Morrissey as an influence, yet Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance and Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy have cited both as a major influence on their songwriting. This kind of disappoints me, because all those kids will never get to experience hearing The Queen is Dead or Viva Hate for the first time, and seeing just how their favorite bands were influenced by ol' Suedehead.
  12. Would every Smiths song ever released qualify?
  13. QUOTE (Akron162 @ Mar 27 2012, 06:13 PM)QUOTE (GrandDesigner @ Mar 27 2012, 04:07 PM) Relayer is their best album. It's them at the peak of their creativity and displays a level of chaos they never explored again after this album. It is brash, it is ugly, it is chaotic, it is absolutely beautiful in every way. The insanity that is The Gates of Delirium sets up the gorgeous serenity of Soon so perfectly, it's the sunlight after a brutal storm. This song is the best thing Yes ever did, and the other two songs manage to capture insanity and tranquility in shorter packages. Their best album is and always gonna be Close to the Edge. Relayer just continue the decline that started in Tales From Topographic Oceans. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/42912553/dash%20let%20me%20laugh%20harder.PNG

  15. I think QuetzalDash has some kind of deal with EqD, because every Rush PMV he's made since "Manehattan Project" has been posted there, which isn't a bad thing at all. That said, .
  16. I'll have to go through my albums again because I haven't been accumulating much music or listening to what I've got. That said, a lot of what I got this year was pretty good. Standout album would probably be The King is Dead by The Decemberists, considering it's about the only 2011 album I've listened to with any regularity. As for gig of the year, I only went to two: My Chemical Romance in a small theater (about 3,500) and Rush in a medium arena (about 12,000). This was my first time seeing MyChem, and while they didn't perform my absolute favorites, the band were on fire and it was amazing being on the floor, 25 feet away from the stage. In addition, they played some older stuff, which was nice to hear. (And my god, the crowd was so loud... they may have been part of the reason my ears were ringing on the way home. On the Rush front, this was my first time seeing Rush indoors (the others were amphitheaters), and, being the first show of the 2011 gig, they were incredible. Sound was amazing, Geddy sounded good, everyone played great, and the crowd was great... I haven't seen all of the new video but this show should have been recorded instead.
  17. It's almost like they're trying to highlight her bad side, which disappoints me, considering that she's my favorite. She's been acting like an ass for most of the last two episodes, except for the endings. I want more Wonderbolts-focused stuff in Dash episodes - has she suddenly lost interest in them? I will say that Hasbro needs to put out a Dash with sunglasses toy, I'd buy one in a heartbeat
  18. QUOTE (Litehawk @ Nov 14 2011, 06:49 PM)QUOTE (Xanadu93 @ Nov 14 2011, 05:15 PM) Oh, and EP6 was bawss. I wasn't really surprised by the Lebowski reference, considering that they were at a bowling alley, as well as the fact that there was a Lebowski reference in Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, a show that Faust worked on. Nonetheless, 'twas truly awesome to see them as ponies Do you know that Madame Foster is in the train car in the season 2 theme song? I've been looking for her but I can't find her. I'll have to look closer next time I watch a new episode of MLP.

  20. QUOTE (Tarkus406 @ Nov 12 2011, 05:43 PM)This thread still exists? I'm scared.. I'm scared of YOU There's nothing but love and tolerance in this thread, what's there to fear?
  21. I was at a Georgia Bulldogs game yesterday and didn't get to watch Episode 5 when it aired (my first miss of this season), but thanks to YouTube I was able to watch it on my iPhone while waiting for the shuttle service to start. Gotta admit, Rarity may not be my favorite, but she's probably the most developed character in the show, and this episode pretty much cemented that thought. Also, Rarity in the rain is fukken adorable. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZxGAaEPvm_g/TrX5JjXLLvI/AAAAAAAASAc/mQvSlc79UIE/s1600/yrarityplaceholder.png
  22. >nothing new on EqD >decide to check TRF >remember MLP thread >moar new pages ponyiamproud.png I will have to miss the initial airing of episodes 5 and 6 because I'll be at football games each day, but episode 7 airs on my birthday! I'll withhold spoilers for obvious reasons, but needless to say I'm very excited for that episode
  23. QUOTE (The Spirit of Xanadu @ Oct 7 2011, 09:46 PM)You guys have no idea how long i've been waiting for this thread to show up. BRONIES UNITE. Oh and Rainbow Dash is best pony. Gonna have to agree with this.
