  1. I'm surprised at how many people don't know what cornhole is. It's pretty popular here in Ohio. And it does have a dirty meaning too.

Right back at you. I have the same right to my opinion as yours. I am not the one trashing you for your beliefs. But whoa I come on here asking for some opinions and I get trashed. Not good. You would have thought I started a religious debate. I do think people jumped you a little heavily and didn't really understand what you were trying to say. What I got from it was that while it is 9:12, it is kind of ambiguous as it is hands on a clock and without knowledge that its a reference to 21:12, one might mistake it for being 9:11. Where I think you fell off the wagon a little bit is when you said that it was "in bad taste". Saying its in bad taste means that Rush meant to be offensive with this cover and meant to invoke feelings about 9/11. This is almost certainly not true. Agreed. I don't think that Rush did it intentionally but I still think it is a close resemblance to 911 and in bad taste. Okay, we're going around in circles here. My point was saying something is "in bad taste" means the speaker or author or what have you meant to be offensive. Rush obviously did not mean for anyone to think about 9/11 when looking at this cover. My question to you is, when The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers came out, did you think the title of that movie was in bad taste?

QUOTE (circumstantial tree @ May 11 2012, 02:25 PM) QUOTE (GeddyLeefan2112 @ May 11 2012, 03:24 PM) QUOTE (circumstantial tree @ May 11 2012, 02:22 PM) If there was any ever a reference to 9-11, it was on and in Vapor Trails. When that album came out, people said that the two black stripes represented the twin towers, especially when turned it 90 degrees, with the fireball coming down from the sky. Representational art, as it were. This is interesting, especially since Vapor Trails are left behind an airplane. Yep, and it was the album to come right after it happened. It's pretty compelling. Kind of shocking to me now that the thought never crossed my mind.

  6. What a thread. It has it all.
  7. QUOTE (drgrendel @ May 11 2012, 12:53 PM) Whining and discussion are not synonymous. For the sake of the better good, I will not continue this. Best of luck getting "good" seats. How 'bout you just go ahead and not enter threads which you view as whining? After all, this thread is called "Enough with the Pre-Sales!" Whining about us whining is kind of being a being a hypocrite. Thanks for the discussion. Fun while it lasted.
  8. QUOTE (drgrendel @ May 11 2012, 10:20 AM) I'm sorry if I am coming off as angry or disgruntled. I love Rush and I'll love whatever seats I get. I'm just a little frustrated with the process right now and I don't really appreciate being called spoiled. After I read this I envisioned a 5-year old throwing a fit when denied a cookie. Sorry.... If you are this upset over the process, perhaps the best avenue to take your anger and frustration is in the form of an email to the powers that be letting them know how awful it is. Whining here does nothing to change it. I never once insulted you, but you have called me several things. That's fine. Who's really the 5 year old? Hmmmm... Also, this is a place to discuss things with Rush fans. That's all we're are doing. How about you unbunch your panties? There. I can do it too.
  9. QUOTE (Snaked @ May 11 2012, 09:09 AM) CBus is a f***ing joke. zero tix in the front floor sections. The f***ing platinum man, I'm gunna pay 700 f***ing dollars for 2 tickets to not even be in the first 10 rows? What the f**k is this? Do the release more tickets as time goes on or is this it? Because I don't want to settle yet. Patience pays off, but god damn. And CBus is ALWAYS a joke. The people who want to buy their tickets first always get screwed. I'll tell this story because it is so relevant. In 2007 I was lucky enough to score 6th row tickets Geddy's side for probably about 350 each. The two people next to me got their tickets the day of the concert and probably paid about 1/3 what I did.
  10. QUOTE (drgrendel @ May 10 2012, 01:15 PM) Oh my...you really do not see it do you? I wish you the best in your search for a good ticket. All I want is a simpler ticket buying experience Buying a ticket cannot possibly be any simpler. I made my purchase right at 1200 hours and had tickets paid by 12:00.33. Done deal. I didn't mean simpler as in the physical process. I meant 1 day all the tickets come on sale. C'mon dude. That's what we've been talking about from the get-go. You're literally completely missing my point. I never once bitched about internet ticketing. I bitched about the 900 presales you have to wade through... even spending money or signing up for credit cards. I just think its ridiculous. Why can't we just have a real fan presale? Every other band I've bought tickets for its been boom one day there's the tickets. When did I ever bitch about it being online? Never. I love buying tickets online. I hate waiting in line. My point has been from the get-go that a million presales is ridiculous and many of them are deceptive. I would love to just have the MT presale and the general sale. Maybe that's just me. Oh I guess the VIP can stay even though I think spending that much money without knowing where you're sitting is bogus. Maybe that's just me. I'm sorry if I am coming off as angry or disgruntled. I love Rush and I'll love whatever seats I get. I'm just a little frustrated with the process right now and I don't really appreciate being called spoiled.
  11. QUOTE (drgrendel @ May 10 2012, 01:08 PM) Chopping that wood taught me to appreciate what was offered in life and that hard work leads to good things. I am thankful for that. Was good for my health as well... I was scanning various venues for tickets and there are some really good seats available at most to all of them. Much better seats that the ones I got in the early days. Sorry, but that is my opinion. And I take all the hours I can get at work and have saved up quite a bit of money to be able to afford tickets. And I can still only afford to go to one show. So that's fine that you think I'm spoiled for wanting to get the best out of the one show I can afford. I just don't have the same view of the situation.
  12. QUOTE (drgrendel @ May 10 2012, 12:54 PM) You missed the point. It is the general perception that pre-sales "owe" fans better tickets than other sales. Or...that pre-sales "should have this over that" that i have issues with. Where is it written that the best have to be offered first? Good ol' days indeed... Wish I had the opportunity to go online to get tickets when I was 13. Would have spared me chopping some wood in order to get my Dad to drive me to the city to get tix... Yeah....spoiled. I don't think presales owe fans anything. I think its a little deceptive though to force people to get a CITI card or buy an app, thinking they'll get good seats when really its not any better than when the tickets go on-sale to the general public. Maybe that's just me. Now was I upset when I had to leave for work and leave the Music Today presale behind? Sure I was. Does that mean I don't like the MT presale? Quite the contrary, I think its great, and if I hadn't left for work, I probably would have bought one of the row 20-25 tickets. I'm probably going to end up going Ticketmaster Platinum and shelling out quite a bit of cash to get nice seats. I wasn't lucky so that's what I have to do. I do like how you said no bleeding hearts but then proceeded to talk about having to chop wood to get tickets. It's a nice touch.
  13. QUOTE (Tigershark2112 @ May 10 2012, 12:22 PM) Unethical? Perhaps. Dick move? DEFINITELY. This is my entire point. To come onto a site made and populated by Rush fans and jack up the price on some tickets is undeniably a dick move. Keep that stuff over at StubHub or wherever you crazy kids are selling your tickets these days.
  14. QUOTE (drgrendel @ May 10 2012, 12:17 PM) I wish we could go back to the good ol' days as well. Two Reasons: 1. Would not hear all the whining about how bad the seats are that you were offered. What happened to being happy to get a chance to see your fav band? 2. Would be happy to hear anything they played as opposed to beeching about what they have played too much of and what they have skipped all these years. Whine whine whine......spoiled rotten. You know, it's great that a lot of people have had a chance to see Rush a lot... but I am 22 years old. I get to see them once a tour. So yes, I am quite invested in getting good seats. This will be my third time ever seeing them. Forgive me for trying to get good seats and thinking that 12 presales is a little ridiculous.
  15. I think people are way too hung up on the idea of Rush playing an entire album. They did it in 2010/2011. Fantastic. Who says they have to do it again?
  16. The sad thing is a lot of these presales (Citi card and Live Nation mobile, etc) make you DO something to get what you think is special treatment, when its really just the same ole shitty seats. Music Today was the only presale that had any seats that were REMOTELY good and I still didn't find any good tickets. I hate buying Rush tickets. This is the only band I've bought tickets for where I have to slave like this. I know it happens with a lot of other bands but I haven't experienced it. It's just really tiring.
  17. I'm Head Supervisor at a movie theater. Exciting, I know.
  18. Weird Al is awesome. I went to a Weird Al concert at the Ohio State Fair in 2007... it was actually like less than a month before my first Rush concert ever. As you can guess, my boyfriend was one of the people in my group. It was the second time I had ever seen him. We were steady 5 months later.
  19. QUOTE (kid-gloves @ May 9 2012, 11:51 AM) The policy that you agree to when you buy tickets through the MT presale clearly states that any resale "for a price in excess of the original purchase price is not permitted." It is a public sale, and the tickets are your property, but you abide by conditions when you buy them. Selling them for profit on a resale site violates those conditions. As for the ethics, I guess it depends on what you think a "community" is, and what obligations you have to other members of that community. To me, using this or another Rush forum for profiteering is exploitative.
  20. QUOTE (brat7760 @ May 8 2012, 05:08 PM) This is my first post since rejoining the forum from several years back, but I just scored front row ticket from ticketmaster for $375.00. I took the advice from several of you and just waited for better seats to pop up. This is crazy after 5 days these seats come available. Some of you might remember me from the Vapor Trails motorcycle I built and posted here many years ago. I just wanted to share this with those that would be as excited as I am! Ticketmaster for $375 dollars. Were these Platinum tickets by any chance?
  21. QUOTE (danielmclark @ May 9 2012, 10:56 AM) QUOTE (GeddyLeefan2112 @ May 9 2012, 09:44 AM) Fans gouging other fans. That's pretty sad. I'd never resell for a profit... I'd only resell at face value if I managed to find better tix. Jacking the price of bottled water in a city going through a natural disaster is gouging. Jacking up the price of a ticket you paid for when there are thousands of other seats to choose from is not. If you don't want to pay 3x face value for a front row seat, there are plenty of other seats in the house to choose from - and that's assuming that you can't score front row on your own, which plenty of people do. Front row is a little bit different. These aren't front row. That's fine if you want to sell tickets for 3x the face value. I'm saying I never would.

  23. QUOTE (Tigershark2112 @ May 9 2012, 10:08 AM) Oh, I remember the big Columbus seating debacle of 2010. I had seats in lower bowl closest to Geddy, awesome seats by the way, and they sold so many tickets that those f***ers decided to add another section ahead of me to sell more tickets. I was furious, and was in a battle with them for days to give me the seats I originally purchsed, I won in the end and got my seats changed but the whole thing SUCKED. I was in the same boat... except I didn't get my seats changed. I guess I just didn't have enough fight in me. But yeah I was section 104 and then they were like lol by the way....we added section 103. I kinda got screwed but I still had fun. EDIT: It might have been section 103/102 or whatever they did. Don't remember. Just remember getting screwed.
