  1. Subject: Airline Pilots Part of Air Canada's recent settlement with the unions was hiring handicapped people. So the other day passengers on a small commuter plane were waiting for the flight to leave. The entrance opened, and two men walked up the aisle dressed in pilots' uniforms and both wearing dark glasses. One pilot was using a seeing-eye dog, and the other was tapping a white cane. Nervous laughter spreads through the cabin; but the men enter the cockpit, the door closes and the engines start up. The passengers begin glancing nervously around, searching for some sign that this is just a little practical joke. None is forthcoming. The plane moves faster down the runway, and people at the windows realize that they are headed straight for the water at the edge of the airport territory. As it begins to look as though the plane will never take off, that it will plough into the water, panicked screams fill the cabin. At that moment, the plane lifts smoothly into the air. The passengers relax and laugh a little sheepishly, and soon they have all retreated into their magazines, secure in the knowledge that the plane is in good hands. Up front in the cockpit, the co-pilot turns to the pilot and says, "You know Bob, one of these days, they're going to scream too late, and we're all going to die...."
  2. Ah yes.............. Saturday mornings. "This Old House" with Bob Vila, "The New Yankee Workshop" with master carpenter Norm Abrams, and lotsa home improvement shows on the Discovery Channel, so I could PRETEND to be taking notes about how to fix stuff around the house, but was actually checking out the female co-hosts. Oh wait.................. you mean kid shows??? Umm, I remember School House Rock between episodes of Looney Tunes and Speed Racer, Spiderman, and the Three Stooges. Yes, and Captain America, too.
  3. Age and sex poll? "Old enough to be your umm.............. older brother", and "yes, please."

  5. QUOTE (Test4VitalSigns @ Jan 11 2005, 06:01 AM) QUOTE (BSG @ Jan 11 2005, 05:09 AM) I have a nice collection of grey hairs. (Thanks mainly to my 3 offspring.) I also collect vinyl records. I have close to 2000 selections, spanning the history of Rock, but also classical, reggae, and R & B. etc. Nice! I'd like to get a collection of vinyl that big.....I'm trying to find Derek and the Dominos Layla album..among other treasures.... Sure. I've got that one. Indispensable. Here it is on Amazon.

  7. QUOTE (kazzman @ Jan 4 2005, 12:45 AM) QUOTE (Indica @ Jan 4 2005, 12:43 AM) QUOTE (kazzman @ Jan 4 2005, 12:42 AM) QUOTE (Indica @ Jan 4 2005, 12:39 AM) When I was a kid, Tommy Wizzed in a MT.dew bottle and capped it and put it in the fridge. Two hours later he asked Allen if he wanted to have a soda drinking contest because we knew he could suck down a soda as fast as it came out of the bottle. He handed Allen the bottle of piss and the contest was on. Allen sucked down about half the bottle before he said "ewww this is PISS!!!!!!" Today, Allen drinks Dr. Pepper. That is both hilarious, and disgusting at the same time. And True!!!!!!! I'm gonna try that sometime... Remind me never to have a soda at either one of youze guy's houses. Oy! __________ ESL = Exit Sanity Left, a group of local TRF crazees.
  8. QUOTE (pixey @ Jan 4 2005, 09:38 AM) Our dog Q. Dont mess with him! Its the morning after New Years Eve, he must have had a rough night. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v408/pixey/Q.jpg Yes. He looks hung over.
  9. Lennie Brisco is one of THE great TV characters of all time. The often-married, just as often divorced, crusty, worldly, wise-cracking, techno-phobic, street-wise detective was a role he seemed born to play. He will be missed. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v411/bsg2112/Forum/orbach.jpg
  10. Every thread needs a contrarian, and in this one, that would be me. In my estimation CoS is appropriately rated lower. I have never gotten into CoS. The sound is much too leaden, sludgy and frankly, dull for my tastes. Sure there are a couple great songs, Bastille Day and Lakeside Park, but as many times as I listen to the rest of it, it just leaves me cold. As far as being underrated, my vote would have to go with the album which is much derided by Rush fans, but which is among my favorites, Hold Your Fire.

QUOTE (Rivendell @ Dec 26 2004, 11:55 PM) QUOTE (BSG @ Dec 26 2004, 09:58 AM) QUOTE (Rivendell @ Dec 25 2004, 08:31 PM) It was a little confusing in the beginning, but I thought it was a brilliant movie. Plus you get to watch Kirsten Dunst dance around in her underwear...worth the price of admission right there! Except for the part about Kirsten Dunst, that sounds pretty gay. Gay? Dude! Excellent tata's Thanks, dude! My man-boobs have rarely been complimented like that. Oh wait................. you meant Kirsten? Yep! She's mighty nice!
  12. Glad to hear it. I've always admired the Cos.
  13. QUOTE (Slaine mac Roth @ Dec 26 2004, 04:29 AM) I'm not sure I can limit myself to 5 only, but my list of definite classics (as far as I'm concerned) are: The Day the Earth Stood Still Them! (set the template for Atomic creature features but done with documentary style seriousness) The Thing From Another World Blade Runner This Island Earth (the Mutants creatures are iconic) Metropolis (the first robot on screen) Akira (a defining moment is Anime) Invasion of the Body Snatchers (both the Don Siegel and Phillip Kaufmann versions are paranoia masterpieces) The Andromeda Strain (redefines the word tension) 2001: A Space Odyssey (pompous and overblown but beautiful) A Boy and His Dog Solaris (I've never managed to see the original, but I loved the remake despite George Clooney) The Time Machine (the orignal of course) Things to Come (again the original) Planet of the Apes (yet again the original) and, despite it not being a film, a special mention has to go to the BBCs TV adaptation of The Day of the Triffids - pure poetry on a low budget. Yes! Good choices all. I especially like your mentions of: "This Island Earth" (I thought I was the only one who liked this one). "The Andromeda Strain" (LOVE this flick! And I thought I was weird for liking it so much.) "A Boy and His Dog" (Excellent! A young Don Johnson and an old Jason Robards.) "Them!" Yep! Mustn't forget the exclamation mark! THE classic irradiated massive insect movie. The scene with the boy who could only say "them!" still chills me to the bone.

  15. "My seats suck and screw that scalper!" (Now, which album was that on?)
  16. QUOTE (Sodoff Baldrick @ Dec 24 2004, 10:02 PM) It's a Wonderful Life. Yes, I agree. It certainly is. Oh? The movie? Yes, that is correct. Your turn.
  17. Cool! Here's one for y'all: "You want the moon? I'll lasso the moon for ya!"
  18. The singer/actress is Cher, and the movie is.................... umm................ the one with Eric Stoltz..................... as the boy with the deformed face.......... Mask.
  19. "Hey baby! It's a quarter to 8! I feel I'm in the mood!" Ooops! Sorry, wrong game....
  20. Great mentions all, guys. But now an old(ish) dude needs to go retro and pay respect to the classics. I give you: Forbidden Planet Invasion of the Body Snatchers The Day the Earth Stood Still The Thing (From Outer Space) Earth vs. The Flying Saucers (don't laugh, this has awesome effects by the incomparable Ray Harryhausen) Now, granted Blade Runner surely belongs in ANY top 5 list, but since it's already been mentioned, I thought it apt to recognize the "Golden Age", eh?
  21. An Irish woman "of a certain age", visited her doctor to ask his help in reviving her husband's sex drive. "What about trying Viagra?" asks the doctor. "Not a chance," she said. "He won't even take an aspirin." "Not a problem," replied the doctor. "Drop it into his coffee. He won't even taste it. Give it a try and call me in a week to let me know how things went." A week later she rang up the doctor, who directly inquired as to progress. The poor dear exclaimed, "Oh, faith, bejaysus and begorrah! 'Twas horrid. Just terrible, Doctor." "Really? What happened?", asked the doctor. "Well, I did as you advised and slipped it in his coffee, didn't I? The effect was almost immediate. He jumped hisself straight up, with a twinkle in his eye, and with his pants a-bulging fiercely! With one swoop of his arm, he sent the cups flying, ripped me clothes to tatters and took me then and there, making wild, mad, passionate love to me on the tabletop! It was a nightmare, I tell you!" "Why so terrible?" asked the doctor." Do you mean you didn't enjoy it?" "Of course I did doctor! Indeed, 'twas the best sex I've had in 25 years." "But I'll never be able to show me face in Starbucks again."
